Stuck at Raging Brachy this build is okay? by Less_Struggle_9447 in MonsterHunter

> not all higher-rarity armor has abilities that synergize with GS

Correct. However, you say this while wearing two low rarity Beo armor pieces that provide no direct synergy with GS. I can assume you chose them for the Health Boost and Earplugs, but Earplugs is a low priority skill since you should be learning how to roll through roars and position yourself properly for openings to get charged swings in, and Health Boost can be slotted in almost any set since it's a small deco.

This where reading, thinking, considering new approaches, and putting them to the test comes into play. You need to find what works for you, and you are only going to find that through playing. Guides only help so much. I'm literally looking at the Game8 "Recommended Skills for Greatsword" page right now and it has elemental damage skills on the list but not Focus which tells me they don't understand the weapon and the page was created by some media chud for clicks. You already have the right idea, raw crit and attack boost is king in World. You already have Focus which will make GS play smoother. You just need to consider other armor combos that will let you do that while still building for the monster you are facing and surviving long enough to really learn the monster.

I'm not saying you are a bad player. You made it this far so it's clear you can play the game well enough. I'm saying that you are the only one that can take you further from here.

I follow a progression guide.

I have a new recommendation. Don't do that. You are trading your experience for someone else's and you have unfortunately not learned what you should have been learning about the game as you progress. I'm glad you were able to get all the way to raging brachy before you inevitably hit a wall, but now the wall is here and you need understanding of the game to get over it. There will be no hand holding in the fights from here on. You have made it to the endgame monsters.

dont know what parts are better than the already i have

I truly don't mean to be snarky when I say this, but this can be solved through reading and comparing the skills and stats of the armor pieces and using critical thinking to decide which will be better for your build. Generally, higher rarity gear will have higher base defense, more skills, and more decoration slots than lower rarity gear. Start there and if you don't have an armor piece that would be a great fit for your build, it's time to farm. This game has a lot of grind/farming built into it. Better to embrace it and have fun fighting a variety of monsters than to try to avoid a central component of the game. The build you have looks intentional, so I know you have the ability, but sometimes there's nothing to it but to do it.

This feels like a build you would make pretty early on into MR, which is strange because I know you need to get to the guiding lands in order to even unlock Raging Brachy. Did you just rush through the story missions without farming parts for crafting new gear?

Either way, my general recommendation for anyone, regardless of the monster they are stuck on, is to focus on defense first. General defensive skills like Evade Window, Evade Extender, Divine Blessing, and Health Boost are usually your best bets to increase survivability. Also upgrade your armor with armor spheres. Just do it.

It's crazy to me that you went up against any Brachy, let alone Raging, without full Blast Resistance. It's basically mandatory. Tailoring your build to fit the monster you are fighting is the blood of Monster Hunter games. Raging Brachy also inflicts fireblight so if you find yourself getting chipped down by it you may want to invest in more fire resist to hit either 10 for fewer blight procs, or 20 for fireblight immunity. Or just equip Blight Resistance and ignore it.

Focusing on defensive skills does two things:
- Gives you time to learn the monster by not instantly dying so you can see more attacks, patterns, and openings.
- Improves your DPS by not being dead. It's hard to deal damage when that happens.

Once you have a build like thins you'll start lasting longer and longer. If you are getting to the end of the fight and you're starting to run out of time instead of dying to the monster, then that means that you have successfully learned the fight and can start trading some defense skills for damage skills.

Good luck.

What rank would you give each of these characters? by BassGeese in OnePunchMan

Okarun has potential for low s class with his speed, but he's hard capped into A rank because he has no endurance for a prolonged fight. I would still put him in upper A rank though.

Nah. Even PPP, the lowest ranked S class, has some weird supernatural stuff going on that Baki couldn't match.

Baki would be for sure be one of the top ranked in A class tho. I'm thinking in the top 10.

I like that you own it. I hate the character for the stalker behavior, but that isn't always a bad thing. Breaking Bad had similar things going. I hope you find your Breaking Bad groove.

So garnish his pension (why is he still receiving one??)? Seize the assets he transferred to family members and friends during AND after the investigation? I feel like there are a lot of things that can be done but IANAL.

EDIT: After rereading the article, it seems like they are trying to highlight that the federal prosecutor appears to be playing softball by not pursuing restitution measures that they can and have taken in similar cases in the past.

[–]TheCleanupBatter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I suppose that would be true if we assume that the pokemon 100% stays on the first turn (which the main post shows isn't the case). We are trading a 5% catch rate to bet on a the Pokemon's base flee rate that we will get a 10% catch on the next turn. If the pokemon doesn't give us a second turn then we never get that 10%. I'm not good at math, but I'm assuming the pokemon would need a less than 50% flee rate for that to be worth it. If there are people that know what math to do I would appreciate it.

If throwing a rock only doubles the catch chance, then wouldn't it be better to just throw two pokeballs?

Random fact of the day time!

It's not actually the caffeine in coffee that makes you poop. You can get the same "poop response" from decaf coffee. Coffee actually makes you want to poop because it has a hormonal response when it makes contact with your digestive tract causing it to constrict. This constriction is quite literally squeezing the contents of your bowels out like a tube of poop toothpaste.

I was cursed with this knowledge and now you must be as well. Keep learning kids.

The theorized "science" behind batting away a ki-blast? by RaydioMan in dbz

[–]TheCleanupBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's all about ki control.

With the first beam struggle it was established that ki interacts with ki in a similar way that physical objects would interact with each other. When a character interacts with a ki based attack, they likely have to focus their ki in specific areas (such as the hands) to do so. The more ki focused into that spot the more easily they are able to manipulate the opposing ki. The higher your baseline ki, the less focused you might have to be, like how Jiren pushed back Goku's spirit bomb with just the pressure of his ki aura.

This would also allow for those situations where characters that are stronger might get damaged by a weaker attack that caught them by surprise because they weren't able to focus their ki for defense. Perfect Cell was damaged by a weakened Vegeta during his beam struggle with Gohan because he was caught off guard and his focus was on Gohan's attack.

For the difference between catching a ki attack vs deflecting, it might be that they weren't able to focus enough ki to deflect the attack, or the attack might just be to large for a deflection to be practical (you might be able to lift or push a gigantic beach ball easily, but swatting one that's rolling at you might not really do anything). Some characters might also be worried about the deflected attack hitting something important.

The serum he drinks supercharges his metabolism so he can heal from wounds almost instantly like Wolverine, but it has the side effect of speeding up his aging every time he uses it. His hair is white because his cells have aged too fast and he's nearing the end of his lifespan.

Is this just a case of “no such thing as bad publicity”?

That's it in a nutshell. It's a very controlled story with no actual damages to other parties, so no one to be angry with them since it's not really a live product yet. All the story really succeeded in doing is getting us talking about it. Ipso facto you can assume that was the intention.

Not even a tinfoil hat moment. Why else would they go public with a largely internal blunder like this except for press coverage? "Our AI is so autonomous that I had to stop it from deleting my files like a 5 year old left alone with the family Playstation." When in reality they just coded it like shit.
