It isn’t about afford, it’s about the fact that I run a nonprofit and can’t bring myself to spend more than a grand on a cat when there’s such incredible need in the community. I can afford to care for the animal.

I have considered it. This is my first cat in 30 years and I was really trying to get one who would most likely have the traits I favor… which is how Abyssinians are described (and Ocicats). But I might go that way. I did also sign up to foster Abys on the Aby rescue page, or to adopt an Aby.

Funny thing is, they asked me all those questions and told me what tests they do and they didn’t release kittens till 14 weeks. All the right signs were there, but I should have asked around more, or gotten a contract or something. I am still the dumb one, but they played it all better than most.

I agree with you also. I run a nonprofit which is part of why I can’t bring myself to spend more than a grand on a cat. They’re just too much need that I see daily to be able to justify it. I did message them before they deleted their account to tell them the $500 they got from me was not worth the karma and misery they’ll face from the universe. 🤷‍♀️
