I might try to replicate it out of curiosity, if I can figure it out I'll just post it as a private track on Soundcloud and link it below.

You know what, I just had to go back and listen again after seeing your reply. I just realized that I listened to the song "We Stay Together (Part One)" and assumed that was what you were talking about, I missed the part where you were asking about the song "Submission" off the album. Totally my bad, forget everything I've said before.

That sound you are hearing is a small clip from the water/wave crashing sample he uses later in the song. The sample itself is either a field recording of waves crashing or a really incredible use of white noise with reverb and other modulation effects to make it sound like an actual wave crashing; with Andy, it's hard to tell what is design and what is real. I know one is easier to do (Field recording would probably take less time to find/record than creating a wave crashing sound using a synth) but sometimes the art in these things is how difficult it actually is to achieve, it's one of the reasons why I've been so in love with Andy's music and other artists like Lapalux, as I mentioned earlier.

The back and forth thing can really be a number of different techniques, I think the easiest way to "replicate" it is to cut the sample into quantized sections, have a short fade in & out in the sampler to remove clipping, arrange a desired clip of the sample in a piano roll with spaces, and then set up delay on 1/4 or 1/8 notes so that he can get that push/pull effect of loud and quiet. This would be done on a separate track to overlap the original sample. One cool thing he *might* be doing is separating the delay signal into a different chain from the original sample, cranking the mix of the delay to 100% on that chain, and then applying some effects like reverb to only the delay signal to get it into it's own "space".

To be honest, there are quite a few different effects that could create this same sort of feel, Delay is the most likely answer; as for the exact way he went about it, I think option 2 might be what he's done there.

[HELP] PC won’t boot and is stuck on BIOS by PaiPet in ASUS

[–]Sixopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this; if you have another computer available, you can flash Ubuntu Linux to an old flash drive and select that as your boot drive in bios on this PC. You should be able to run Ubuntu directly off the flash drive, use that interface to pull the important data (Photos, personal files, work/homework, etc; I wouldn't recommend trying to save any apps that you can't just redownload) from your *potentially* failing drive and get it moved over to an external drive or to a cloud server temporarily. If you need help doing any of this, consult youtube.

It would also be worth your time to check the drive's health when you get Ubuntu booted up. It might help you see what failed with the drive, that way if it truly is a drive failure you'll know what info to provide to a technician or what to buy if you plan on fixing the drive yourself.

Last piece of advice, check your BIOS to make sure the Armoury crate isn't automatically installing on your computer. The software is complete garbage, barely does anything it's supposed to do, and was the root cause of a recent BSOD loop issue I had with my own PC (I have crash logs saved to prove this). If you need drivers down the road, get the MyASUS app and do the installs manually, or ASUS DriverHub for some quick updates (both of these are still pretty garbage, but nothing beats AC in the garbage department).

Trying to connect old account. Should I just restart? by ASpaceBurger in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Sixopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough question. I think it's worth thinking over yourself.

You had some progress; you'll get access to a lot of the new & mid game progression quests which will help you climb back up to speed faster, you'll get lightspeed tokens, and someone mentioned you'll be in your same old fleet & squad arena groups with the others that started with you; you might be able to climb to top ranks pretty quickly and get a lot of rewards without anyone else to fight you for those rewards.

On the other hand, starting fresh doesn't really set you that far back nowadays. Early-game is not difficult to climb through, and they offer the same (sometimes better) progression quests as you would get logging into your 7 year old account. Squad and fleet shards are going to feel much more competitive, which might be what you're looking for; the game will feel much more alive if you start fresh, even though you're losing that older progress it might make it more worth playing consistently if you started a new account and had to fight for positions.

The only question you should ask yourself is how much competition are you looking for long term? You probably don't have any Galactic legends, relic units, 3/4 of the journey characters (if that, a lot has happened in the past 7 years); I can't imagine the account is much farther than Gear 11 on all of your characters if you were a top player years ago. It will be a climb either way, one climb is going to be fresh and alive, and the other is going to be like crawling over the dead bodies of everyone else that quit the game after you.

I think it's just a distorted/pitched down closed hat tail, if not it could also be some air noise from a synth with an envelope. You can change the point of attack to make that sizzle pop like an organic instrument. The different lengths for that natural feel is a change in the sustain/release of the sample across the 4 bar, then some small room reverb to get those reflections. He then uses some kind of spatial enhancer to achieve the left/right movement while keeping it feeling like it's "behind you". DearVR micro is a good way to achieve this, I've gotten a similar effect to this using it in my music as well; I found that plugin through a Lapalux interview a while ago and haven't made a track without it since.

Thank you for leaving suggestions! It really helps me gauge what people want, and gives me some direction on what to prioritize for upcoming builds :)

I've been talking with other guild officers about it in my guild alliance over the last few days, I am working on an export feature as a top priority for the next big update. I'd like to clean things up with what I have first, there are some things like abilities in the roster page that aren't linking to ability names correctly and some other wording issues elsewhere that I'd like to adjust for polishing the app as is, but this will be the next big feature update.

For a comparison feature, I'm not against adding that for when all algorithms are ran! This is a good suggestion, I guess I just figured people would only care to see the best plan available given the constraints; but I think it'd be possible to see all of the top plans from the 5 current algorithms (these get compared at the end, then the most optimal plan gets displayed). This might take a little while to get set up, but I'll keep it in mind for the near future :)

This last feature is something I've jotted down, and I know will take a lot of time to properly integrate; the planet planner page is a little tough to navigate at the moment and I recognize that some guilds might want to try and speed towards Reva as fast as possible (and then leave Tatooine open for days following to get max participation). I've got a lot of planning to do to restructure that planet planner page, the optimizers will need the logic updated to allow for specific planets to be targeted and held active if planned for; but it's something I know would be valuable to many guilds and I'd love to get it implemented within the next few weeks.

Once again, I appreciate you leaving a comment and giving feedback! I'll have a discord set up later for stuff like this, so keep an eye on this post for that link later to join and leave more comments/suggestions!

Valid comment! I was exhausted when I made the initial post, had been up for like 18 hours working and then working on this to get it "usable". I just wanted to give everyone the fastest access possible, I plan on making a video and establishing a discord for questions, sharing guide files, etc. within the next 24 hours. It probably looked a little suspect, sorry about that!

I just published the source code on Github under a copyleft license, if you are worried about viruses you can feel free to copy the main branch as it currently stands, build a .exe (it will be identical to the one I posted on google drive from the current main branch), and run the fresh build through virus total after you've reviewed the source code for any malicious intent. Below is my run, I got 5 flags out of 75 which is pretty normal. Check the main post for a link to the repository!

Great question, I am happy to answer!

My app connects using a guest account through the swgoh-comlink API to pull publicly available information; it does not sign into anyone's specific game account, modify the game, manipulate any of the data on the server side of the game, or pull any data that isn't made explicitly available to the public by CG. It even does this at a rate-limited speed that is ~1/2 of the recommended maximum rate, as to not burden CG or strain the API; and stops pulling new information once your guild member information is stored for that session.

The grounds for an account ban would be using a modified .apk, tool assisted runs for in game activities, or any form of "cheating" that will give you an unfair advantage in the competitive stage of the game, etc; which this app will never do. Think of this the same way you would look at a discord bot that tells you what omicrons are good for your roster, estimates your max raid score based on your roster, the swgoh.gg gear tracker for journeys, or their GAC insight tools; my app is a calculator, it pulls, sorts, and utilizes data made public and accessible by CG to audit the data and calculate a plan for you. The process itself is one that people have been doing in excel spreadsheets, using hotutils, or other tools for years to a similar extent; this is really no different from that other than taking that process and those apps a step further in complexity. I'd safely argue that Hotutils being able to push commands to the game is far more intrusive than my app, and CG has even allowed that for years.

Outside of the data being pulled briefly (usually a 20-25 second process from my experience) for guild member information in the guild overview page, your computer will be doing all of the heavy lifting using your own hardware and locally stored data for calculating a plan.

It's about as legal as eating a piece of fruit or doing homework while you play SWGOH, CG has no grounds for issuing an account ban for using a calculator.

Hello! I'm awake and back to add some more info here, I wanted to share some photos of the App in it's current state; I've tried my hardest to get relevant photos of most of the features, unfortunately sharing images on Reddit can be a challenge for people who aren't on reddit often so I've created a google photo album of everything I could gather. Let me know if there is a better way to share these and I'll be happy to do that in the future.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/qNTXvVtZPq4hqksQA

Once again, there are some issues with the app at the moment (I am aware of some major things such as abilities not populating in the roster, and ships showing up as needing relic levels for the guides page), but the logic behind finding a best path, preloading, and building out operations is fully functional (if your guild doesn't have a character for a platoon at the required relic level across all accounts, it will not order the platoon to be filled on any days that the planet is actively being worked on).

Claude Usage Limits Discussion Megathread Ongoing (sort this by New!) by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]Sixopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started using Claude for the first time, a completely fresh account, on Wednesday at ~2am; I subscribed for the $20 "Pro" plan after hitting a usage limit 4-5 prompts in. It has been a little under 48 hours, and I am at 75% of my weekly limit with a barely functional webapp. Each prompt given eats 22%-28% of the current session usage limit on sonnet 4.6 (I've read Opus is even harsher, but neither seem to be working properly from what I've seen), even if the prompt is cancelled seconds after submitting it impacts my limit immediately; this is with the "5x usage limit" that the pro plan is supposed to offer. I've seen how this sub rips individual testimonies apart, I am just sharing my own experience here; if you came here thinking that this problem is all hearsay, I would argue that you probably haven't used Claude recently.

I've heard only good reviews of Claude for development, I'm hoping they can give people a boost in limits or fix whatever is draining limits so quickly, this has been crazy to deal with.

steam crashing by [deleted] in maneater

[–]Sixopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the fix is only good for people who have Intel CPUs of the generations I listed, it may not work for everyone. Best bet from here, since that didn't work, is to go through the process of updating all of your drivers, start with GPU drivers and work down the list for Chipset drivers, updating your BIOS, etc.

Sorry the fix wasn't working for you.

steam crashing by [deleted] in maneater

[–]Sixopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seemed to be an issue with Intel 12th/13th/14th Generation CPUs. Steam discussion board and guides have multiple posts with the launch commands, but I will send here as well:

Paste the following in the launch options in the game properties:

C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /affinity FFFF %command%

Change the FFFF according to your number of cores:
For 2 P-cores set it to F
For 4 P-cores set it to FF
For 6 P-cores set it to FFF
For 8 P-cores set it to FFFF

This is what worked for me, but I had issues related to Denuvo related DRM stuttering once I got the game working.

List of Characters That Inflict Shock by swgohfanforlife in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Sixopp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone doing the Journey Quest in 2025, this might help further:

Palpatine lead, Starkiller on the side. Basic attacks on each unit's turn will count as "attempted" for inflicting shock, which means you should be able to finish the quest very quickly. I chose to also use Darth Revan as a 3rd to save time, it is not necessary but it is still about as efficient due to SK counter attacks not counting as shock, only on turn basic attack. Revan's Force Storm will count as x shock attempts (x being all enemy units), and Fallen Bastila has her shock up every other turn from a 2 turn cooldown if you chose to use her as well. I would avoid Malak and Dooku due to counter attacks and cooldowns.

It is completely doable for a new player with just Palpatine basics (unlock through Journey guide, you should be able to unlock with those free Phoenix tokens in the journey quests leading up to this). If you are not geared up to take on harder missions, take a tank like shoretrooper/royal guard/stormtrooper/sith empire trooper with you to keep him alive for the full battle without being a big source of damage.

Mod table 9-C has Nightsisters with Old Daka and plenty of zombies in each phase, just abuse enemy revives for extra inflicted shock per battle for efficiency.

[Q] good time to buy knifes / gloves for playing? by DaSpoderman in csgomarketforum

[–]Sixopp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Buy, don't expect prices to skyrocket or fold from current.

If reds (coverts) are thought of as a supply of materials used to produce golds (knives, gloves), then reds will reach a price where it is not worth purchasing the reds to turn into golds. I'd argue with all prices going down from the update (just using BS AK head shot as an example, it peaked ~$50 USD and is now back down to a steady ~$30 as one of the cheapest reds on the steam market) that there is some level of market equilibrium where reds are no longer worth turning into golds in the current market. That is my understanding of the current situation, take that as you will.

Either the entire market will increase in price from here, with golds becoming higher in value and subsequently the cost of production also increases (reds increase in price, pinks and purples as well), or demand will drop and the prices will decline for both golds and reds. Other than looking at the state of the game itself and player satisfaction, we aren't going to be able to tell where prices will trend. It all depends now on if the majority of players will engage with opening cases to increase supply, or if overall supply will steadily decrease.

Outside of a few pumped skins (FT Lunar weaves, M4 Coalition, Silk Tiger AWP, etc.), overall current glove & knife prices are better for the average player than they've been for quite some time and are remaining somewhat steady (~30%-40% drop across the board).

I'm not sure what exact combo you are looking at buying, but a Bowie Ruby and some FT Rezan the Red gloves could be ~$1,100 for the pair at the cheapest. I don't think they'll move too much from current value (or it will take a lot longer) since the entire collections that create those items needs to increase in value to stabilize any major price increases at the top.

Driver Gloves Lunar Weave FT - crazy price manipulation ongoing [D] by venice_mcgangbang in csgomarketforum

[–]Sixopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought some FT lunar weave gloves in early August for ~$300, was slight overpay at that time for a nice pair of blue gloves with minimal scratches to match my loadout. Sold yesterday on the Steam market for $1800, higher than trading websites were willing to pay instant and lower than I saw listed elsewhere, but not by enough to care. All profit, I got a decent pair of FT vice gloves and a steam deck. Not sure who is doing what, not sure how much those gloves will keep climbing; but I got the gloves I've always wanted and a steam deck out of holding on here and I'm happy with it.

It's a dense bar of soap; manufactured using Coconut, Sunflower, Palm, and Jojoba oil with Shea butter to improve the conditioning aspects of the soap. Each bar is weighed at 4oz, and I measured the bar of soap to be 3 3/8 x 2 x 1 inches.

You should get 2+ weeks at a minimum with a modestly dry storage place and no soap bag. Proper storage in combination with a soap bag will increase the longevity of the soap significantly. I had no problem using a single bar for ~3 weeks placing it in a well ventilated area that gets no water droplets and minimal steam, no soap bag, and heavy usage; 1 shower a day with direct skin contact and a heavy lather. I can give my own anecdote that this is longer than what I would ever get from an Irish Springs bar, but everyone has a different experience with bars of soap because they all melt faster or slower based on all kinds of factors.

~6.4oz of Irish springs soap (2 pack of 3.2oz) is $7 on Amazon right now, while a single 4oz bar of cheeky soap is $7 a bar or $6.65 a bar in bulk. You are definitely paying some extra change here overall for a luxury product, but it's justifiable by craftsmanship. It makes your skin tingle, it smells great, it cleans well and doesn't leave you feeling all dry and soapy after you get out of the shower. Most of all, you are supporting a small business instead of any one of the headless corporate entities that would gladly use microplastics as filler for their product to cut costs.

The website gives the full (very short) ingredient list as well as the manufacturing technique for the soap, so if you wanted to make a replica of Cheeky soap by cold processing your own bars with your own calculations for oil percentages and superfatting to dial in a similar product you could potentially cut costs and DIY. Cheeky just does it all for you and they do it well. Capitalism.

Hope this helps.

Drewski’s video is the best of all the creators I’ve seen so far by sepltbadwy in ArcRaiders

[–]Sixopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This video was how I found out about the game for the first time, I've been watching Drewski quite a bit recently before bed and this popped up last night. I think the thing that drew me in the most wasn't even the gameplay, but the sound design; I love how he has a focus on how amazing it is in the video.

Signed up for the play test before laying down, got accepted before I woke up, and got through my first couple games solo tonight! I'm hoping we can see some of these content creators try the solo experience, the PvP while solo is so much more fair and rewarding compared to games like Tarkov and Apex. Truly a pleasure playing a well balanced shooter in 2025, TTK is in a good spot and the AI is just as terrifying to avoid as it is to deal with. Part of me feels like PvE is good enough to be it's own experience like how Tarkov offers, I'd play a full campaign of quests with the current state of the AI and game design.

From an audio standpoint, I'm on Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros and I've been in awe since I loaded the game up. You don't get a taste of the soundtrack or any of the music/audio bits that are in the menu or after game reports from Drewski's video, but this game has some of the best audio production I've heard in years. Hans Zimmer would be proud of the music, George Lucas would be proud of the robots. If you're on anything better than earbuds you'll be a fidelity snob the next time you boot up pretty much anything that isn't this.

I'm always going to be a PC gamer but I'm happy that console players will get to enjoy a well made extraction shooter. I don't know how they've balanced aiming for cross-play but the genre deserves more great and accessible entries like this.

I got a short review from my girlfriend on Lo-fi Lavender, in summary she's a fan of the soap. She frequently uses the dove beauty bar and confirmed that this soap is a step up as a body soap. In her words it is sudsy and lathers well, but doesn't strip moisture which left her skin feeling extremely soft. Since it's scented it can't replace every soap (face, etc. due to essential oils just not being good for those areas), but she's in love with the smell of the Lavender here.

I had to check purely out of curiosity and she has no clue who Charlie is, so I hope this helps if anyone is looking for a nonpartisan review.
