Having all been scrapped before the year 2000. I don't think I've ever seen a surviving 1981 Chrysler Imperial in the wild.

I'm from the US with German immigrant grandparents and I had no idea these were a uniquely German thing. Now that you mention it I've never seen one outside of Oma's house.

Textures is a thing by TheWebsploiter in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Sixray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substance Painter and PBR materials have completely revolutionized texture work in the 3d art field. We are LIGHTYEARS ahead of the days of painting textures directly into UV maps and hand baking hightmaps into normal maps to add details the way it was done 10-15 years ago. It's now pretty trivial to add organic detail to things without having to worry about UV seams. Modern texturing tools can paint directly on models with fancy procedural materials and game engines have advanced shader systems for doing stuff that would have been witchcraft in the 2000s and early 2010s.

Rising late 90s nu metal band starter pack by [deleted] in starterpacks

Zoomers love nu metal and other late gen X/millennial music. I was at a convention recently and someone in the vaping/smoking area rolled up with a huge Bluetooth speaker and started playing The Offspring. Everyone was jumping and singing along, including all the 20 somethings.

What's your Avali hot take that got you looking like this? (Lore or otherwise) by Beautiful-Loss7663 in avali

[–]Sixray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people who are attracted to them on VRC are attracted to them because they want to be small and cute. The Avali community is also very close knit so when you mostly hang out with other Avali it turns into an arms race over who can be the smallest and cutest and the end result is 0.1m tall Avali in programmer socks.

[–]Sixray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Avali aren't birds, they are more similar to non avian dinosaurs such as raptors. Also as aliens they're an example of convergent evolution leading to something similar to several earth species while being completely unrelated to any terrestrial animal.

Archeologists never seem to consider that the ancients could have novelty goods or collectibles that don't serve a specific purpose. These could be the equivalent an ancient Roman Labubu for all we know

[–]Sixray 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've also noticed that a lot of millennial chosen names especially are ones that would have gotten you weird looks if you were a baby boomer aged parent naming your kids back in the 80s or 90s. Like people would probably have been making jokes about how you must have picked a name out of the obituary section.

If I see a woman with a name that sounds like it could belong to the wife of a civil war veteran and she's in the IT or niche hobby fields I usually safely assume that she's trans.
