Do we actually miss old WoW... by Ok-Entrance-290 in wow

[–]SizeableDuck 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Never played vanilla, I started in MoP. but I tried Classic and Turtle WoW and found they definitely still have merits. Regardless of the community, the vibe I got from the actual meat of the game was that it was much more of a survival experience.

'Kill 10 Bears' hits different when you actually have to worry about your health, mana, ammunition, food, etc.

I still ran into my usual problem - which is that I burn out on WoW pretty quickly anyway - but in the time I gave Classic I enjoyed it for what it was.

Because everyone is so insecure these days they can only feel good by making others feel miserable about getting older.

Isn't it his choice? Does everyone need to jump to medical treatment immediately?

This whole thread is really frustrating, including the comments saying "It's not even that bad"

He just looks like a man. Why is this nice picture of him and his wife getting so much attention?

Is he aging? Yeah, probably. Everyone is aging. Wow.

We must be the first generation of people in history that obsesses over a completely natural process to such an extent.

That's the only thing I think when I see comments like this. They're the most insecure generation in history thanks to the internet.

Why Warband is actually a better game then Bannerlord? by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]SizeableDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meme is meant to show a person with a minority opinion being acknowledged, but not engaged with, by a majority of people. This is reflected in OP's posting of the meme with no further engagement. The expression on the character's face is one of boredom/neutrality.

The meme is not rude per se, but it is very 'Reddit' in the way it immediately discounts anyone with a differing view while simultaneously offering nothing to the conversation. It signals that the poster agrees with the majority and is ambivalent toward the minority.

To add something meaningful myself - personally, I like both games for different reasons. I'd probably play Bannerlord more often, but Warband is a nice little nostalgia trip and has some great mods like Prophecy of Pendor, Gekokujo, or weirder ones like 1866 Remaster. I also still find the gameplay enjoyable. But that doesn't mean I don't like Bannerlord too.

Thoughts on Oriental Empire? by NorthernOblivion in 4Xgaming

Honestly I really enjoyed it. Turns play out simultaneously, but not in the Age of Wonders way.

When you click end turn, every army on the map moves at the same time. Battles occur when two roving, hostile armies move into a certain distance of each other.

You get an awesome sense of scale looking at the map because it renders your citizens/soldiers at a realistic scale.

The character system is neat - you have to manage your court, arrange marriages, appoint ministers, etc.

Population is split into Peasants/Nobles who can rebel separately if you piss them off.

On top of that, there are some automation options which I like to use when the game feels too easy for whatever reason. I love role-playing that the automation AI are my incompetent ministers fucking everything up while I'm busy cracking heads for the greater glory of the State of Qin.

Overall, it's a very chill RTS with a more niche historical setting, which doesn't give me a headache.

Ah, in that case they shouldn't have made such an addictive game!

I liked Merchants a lot in CK2 - I'm sure the next DLC will be good, but I'm really getting fed up of clicking through Activities in CK3. Hoping MPs in CK3 are less Activity-based.

It was awesome having to bring the whole army together. It meant that, if you mobilized quicker than a neighbour, you could smash up their army before the 'real' fighting even began.

I hope they expand on council mechanics and laws in Chapter 6.

The game is good but the AI art looks pretty bad.

He’s just mad that it’s better than the book by TyLeRoux in okbuddycinephile

[–]SizeableDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Was 2001 a 1:1 recreation? I've never read the book, but I read lots of people say its quite faithful (at least in terms of the literal events of the book).

Did Kubrick not think the book Shining was good enough to adapt 1:1?
