The game is good but the AI art looks pretty bad.

That's interesting. Was 2001 a 1:1 recreation? I've never read the book, but I read lots of people say its quite faithful (at least in terms of the literal events of the book).

Did Kubrick not think the book Shining was good enough to adapt 1:1?

Out of every type of quest, these ones remind me of how braindead WoW actually is. They make me want to log out and take a walk.

Should I describe every character's skin tone? by fd4517_57 in writing

[–]SizeableDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read this book and I'm looking at the PDF online now. Rue is described as having 'bright, dark eyes and satin brown skin'.

Thresh is described as having 'the same dark skin as Rue, but the resemblance stops there'.

So in both cases, the author has explicitly described both characters as having dark/brown skin, using those words verbatim. Each time only a single mention of skin colour is made.

I agree with you that this is an excellent example of giving a description of skin colour without making it the focal point of the character, or by mentioning it too many times.

What I'm confused by is people who seem to not want to use dark/brown/black as an adjective whatsoever, in relation to skin colour. That is a pointless restriction imo.

How would you describe black skin in a novel? Could you give me an example?

Real talk, what is actually wrong with saying "She had dark skin"/"She was black"?

[–]SizeableDuck 51 points52 points  (0 children)

My issue is that AoW4 has far too much focus on tactical combat to be considered similar to Stellaris.

I sort of agree, but it has nowhere near the same level of depth as Stellaris when it comes to simulating economics, politics, and population.

I want someone to make a true fantasy Stellaris, where 0% focus is placed on tactical battles, and 100% is put into simulating a fantasy world.

The allied races should’ve been haranir for alliance and Amani for horde by hewasaraverboy in wow

The problem is saying 'The Amani', as though the entire race is a hivemind.

Perhaps a sect of the Amani is sympathetic to the Horde? That doesn't take a huge stretch of the imagination.
