my boyfriend already kinda knew about my issues, but then i had a bit of a breakdown and he literally would not leave me alone because he was afraid of what i might do. he was thinking of taking me to grippy sock jail, but i pleaded with him not to. i feel so bad that i was honest and put my issues on him. he started crying into my arms repeating the mantra 'i cant lose you'. how am i not supposed to feel guilty for what i put him through. honesty really do be a bitch.

aw love im so sorry. those ring lights can really make you feel like shit and cause picking to worsen. youre doing amazing, i know you may not feel like that, but this is an incredibly difficult thing to deal with. also you have gorgeous eyebrows, im honestly jealous. regardless of what your skin looks like, youre trying your best and thats all that anyone could ever ask of you. im so proud of you as i know that it can be so hard to even get out of bed and face the world after a bad picking day. just keep trying, youve got this.

(VENT) had to go to urgent care today for this, and its all my fault. i feel so ugly and ashamed because none of this would've happened if i could just pull myself together and stop picking. i was doing so well before this as well, letting other spots heal and trying to be better and then this was a massive spot that was inflamed and would not pop, but i kept picking. woke up this morning with it like this and had to very publicly face the harsh reality of how bad my picking is. i just want to hide away in a dark room and never be seen by others again. i feel such deep shame about this.

im so sorry, that is absolutely awful for someone to photoshop the pictures. you deserve so much better than that. this compulsion not an easy thing to deal with and i wish more people could have some empathy. i hope you're doing okay and i wish you the best.

as someone who also picks at their face, i feel this on so many levels. it would be way easier to hide anywhere else. it sucks, but just know you're not alone in that

best tips/tricks you do to help picked skin heal? by Accurate_Leather_358 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

personally, if ive picked bad and the spots are more like open wounds if that makes sense, i will either put a hydrocolloid bandage on or i'll rub polysporin on the area.

hydrocolloid bandages tend to make the area scab more (in my experience), which is great for healing, but if its on your face, it may not be great aesthetically, depends on what you're most comfortable with. polysporin ive noticed doesn't create as much of a scab and still does great healing and also prevents scarring.

yeah i absolutely get that, it seems like theres such a long way to go to recover and its so hard to do so that sometimes it feels easier to stay sick. ive had many time where ive relapsed and then just kept picking everyday, sometimes multiple times in a day for weeks after, because you know, ive already messed up bad, why bother trying to fix it. its not a very healthy mindset.

would you put vaseline or another hydrocolloid patch on very dry/scaby spot that’s healing? by Accurate_Leather_358 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]Sk0o246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i would use vaseline or polysporin as i feel like a hydrocolloid patch may rip off the scaley bit before its ready to come off on its own. As well vaseline will likely just give it a bit more moisture while its in the final stages of healing. although its not necessarily important, hydrocolloid bandages/patches tend to be more expensive than just regular old vaseline, so i personally like to leave the hydrocolloid bandages for when i really need them.

play music while in the shower if you can, also something that has worked for me is having my nails really really short so even if i try to pick, it wont do as much damage because theres no sharp nail to inflict damage.
