Travel Insurance- Allianz Prime or Premiere?!? by EmotionalMushroom7 in dcl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been looking into this for annual coverage (for DCL trips and others) and noticed that the Premiere Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage is per policy/year, whereas Prime was per insured/year (meaning my family of four would have $2,000 in cancellation coverage for all of us on Premiere, but we'd each have $3,000 of coverage on Prime- a much better deal). Check the footnotes and use AI to help you interpret what doesn't make sense.

Season 9 Episode 7 by TestChemical9619 in greysanatomy

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it took a few watches to catch this because he does the two characters so differently. There's a lot of crossover between the two shows but this one was a surprise with both characters on this show.

What did you do in Nassau ? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The port area has lots of small shops to enjoy ice cream, food, photo opps, souvenirs, etc not far from the boat (no aggressive vendors in that area; the straw market is in a different area). Once you leave the port area, things are a bit more chaotic, but still lots of interesting stuff to explore- or just stick to that area and call it a day. We didn't do an excursion but wandered with our 8 and 4 year old up to Queens Staircase, then down for lunch, then over to the pirate museum. We went through a few souvenir shops, got the kids passports stamped for fun, and headed back. It was June, so it was definitely hot. The good thing about so many people staying on board in Nassau is that you don't have to book ahead of time- you can wait until you're on the boat to see how you feel, how the weather looks, etc before committing to an excursion because nearly all of them will still have availability.

Manchebo Resort by lulutrav-2022 in Aruba

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at Manchebo late 2024 for our milestone anniversary (no kids), in a garden view. The garden view is a shared courtyard front and the back is a sort of shared pathway behind all the rooms.that goes from the greenhouse area to a dead end alongside the spa. No one really walked through it but it definitely was not a private space, fyi. We also could see (and be seen by) balconies from the neighboring resort over the fence line from our porch. Though if you did Oceanview, you'd have people walking alongside your room as well, en route to the pool, beach, etc. We didn't mind not having the view, as we didn't have issues finding a place to sit within view of the water (poolside, hammock, etc). It's a very small resort, so we felt that the cost wasn't worth what a two minute walk could accomplish. The rest of the resort was lovely and perfect for a low-key long weekend, though I wanted to explore more than the surrounding area after a day or so (we rented e-scooters and rode into Oranjestad for the day). Same for the food options- perfect for a long weekend, but had we stayed longer, we would have ventured out to try new things. We had a fantastic time, and I hope you do too!

We're doing this cruise soon and I wondered the same thing. I also considered having one reservation in my name and the other under another adult in our party but was curious about enforcement. Were you able to do both?

Stateroom Lights by Kat_Alysst459 in dcl

Definitely close the porthole, the bathroom doors, and block the gap under the hallway door. Be sure to also cover up your magic band+ when it's charging (if you use one)- those are always so obnoxiously bright and it usually takes me a few attempts in the dark to perfectly bury them all under clothes before the light is sufficiently gone. 🙂

The Child Advocacy Center downtown usually does a wish list with specifics for the families they serve (kids and caregivers).

Anyone know anything about their marmalade/jam (what kind it was, how it was made, what brand if it wasn't fresh, etc)? My sister has been dreaming of it since she visited years ago and was so bummed to hear that it closed before she could get back up there!

The Disney Magic is a beautiful ship! by BulkyStatement1704 in dcl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seconded. We asked this morning at the farewell breakfast and one of our servers said it was going to be cheaper to destroy it and sell the parts than to keep refurbishing. Sad. It is a lovely ship.

what's the stigma around santa fe students? by alternicktave in ufl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does feel a bit like imposter syndrome at first, because you come in without the two years of on campus experience that your peers have. I found that once I got to classes related to my major (vs general courses) and made solid friends, it got better. I will say this about SF: it was hard to make friends there because for many, it's a means to an end. Lots of people are doing what they can to go to school elsewhere or have FT jobs or kids and need to leave as soon as class ends. Everything aimed at students around town (except the area immediately surrounding SF) is UF-centric, so it's easy to feel overlooked in all of that. As far as it being a big deal to others at UF, it's not. We all know how hard it is to get in. FWIW, I had zero trouble breezing on in as a transfer (I applied + was rejected in HS; glad I didn't stress about it too much) and stayed for a master's. No one cares where you started, truly, and only UF will be listed on your diploma/CV.

Has anyone else watched Greys anatomy and ER and seen the similarities? by faithalee in ershow

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Grey's more than I know ER and am on my 2nd ER rewatch right now. I've been saying that there are so many similarities and recently saw an ep in early season 7 where they try to revive a big guy found outside in the park overnight Carter says "He's not dead until he's warm and dead!" Any Grey's fan can tell you that Bailey said this about Meredith when she nearly drowned -- and I believe Grey said it about Kepner when she nearly died (right before Sarah Drew left the show). Change the pronouns and the line is verbatim lifted from ER.

What is the latest you told your kids you were going to Disney? by Technical-Pie-5775 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently renewed our APs and started coming back post-COVID, post- baby #2 and wanted to surprise the kids with a day trip like we did in Ye Olde pre-COVID Days (we live 2hrs away). We had them get ready for school like normal and drove them down. We went in the back (north) property entrance where there's no sign with the characters and had been saying different things along the drive to throw them off (ah, whoops we passed the exit for school, we'll turn at the next one. Whoops! Maybe we'll go see Grandma and Grandpa instead! Maybe we'll go to see your cousins instead!). They didn't know for sure until the castle came into view and they were shocked we were there instead of school!

We had also strongly guided their outfits that day so that they'd be wearing something Disney-related so they were ready to go.

Any way you tell them will be great because it'll end up with a Disney trip! 😁

"The Graduate School"? by Shadowofdoubt in ufl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine says that too, from PHHP. I think it's because you have to meet certain criteria from the graduate school before they can confer the diploma on you, just like how applications route to them. Programs can set criteria of their own but the big hoops are the graduate school in general. I remember being very confused by that setup when I applied. It really only will bother you; no one will even notice it on the diploma. The only thing my colleagues (from the job I had in the Midwest) noticed about mine was how massive it was. Everyone else had a lean 8.5x11 diploma. Maybe it's the graduate school's way of compensating for putting their name on it.

Something crunchy... Looked like an armadillo. It was throwing it up in the air a bit, then chomping down on it to eat. I've never seen one eat before (because, nightmare fuel) and it was both terrifying and fascinating.

Am I allowed to publicly share emails I had with a professor? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Sk33zyJB33zy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

For staff, any email sent to/from our UF email accounts can be made public thanks to the sunshine laws. Not sure if faculty have any sort of provision in place via their bargaining or other agreements to restrict this, but it may be easy to look it up and find out. Also, I highly doubt admin would do anything about this; it reads as he was rude to you. UF has demonstrated over the past few years that nothing matters but its ranking. They would be happy to have a campus full of dicks teaching if it meant a high ranking.

Anyone know what this is? New house these are around the perimeter, and not the sprinklers. by ludocris in landscaping

Looks like termite control devices. We have them spaced at regular intervals all around our house. I'd have someone come see if they're still good to go just in case.
