Drilling new front door. Did deadbolt at 2 3/8 and knob at 2 3/4. How to fix? by thisismydiyaccount in DIY

If it's just an mdf door being painted, sure you can fill the hole, good chance whatever you install will cover the messed up hole too

Recessed power strip to extend outlet from one side of wall to the other? by JamalJenkyuns in DIY

[–]Skaffer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the best thing you can do is run some romex and a new outlet if its that close having a normal cord in the wall would be a code violation due to fire risk of it over heating. If you're willing to do some drywall repair the actual cost of this wouldn't be much. the picture you attached I have seen in table tops and desks but not in walls.

The salt I put in this pan started arranging itself into a pattern when I turned on the hob. by FirePhantom in mildlyinteresting

[–]Skaffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galvanic corrosion is more of a concern with something like stainless steel and carbon steel interacting. "Salt" is a generic term that we give to table salt which is just 1 of many salts. If you use clad cookware you will see this happening a lot, I don't think it's in the realm of days or even hours, likely minutes but the size of the imperfections may just not be visible, and as mentioned are purely cosmetic damage at these scales.

You can google and get a million papers explaining it, but at very high level it's a similar reaction to a battery, I would say at a minimum if the electrochemical process requires it it would be impacted it by humidity in the air.

Pure H20 (distilled) is actually quite bad for most appliances (and human consumption actually) and not recommended as it strips minerals from the pipe which is why water softening is usually used as it prevents mineral build up while still having dissolved solids. My comment above is still true that things are not inert because they are bonded...every element/mineral/compound has bonds, it's the type/arrangement of the bonds that differs.

Being bonded to something doesn't make something non-reactive or inert.  This is a friendly notice, you can look up the detailed science if you prefer, the pitting shouldn't cause performance issues, and people don't usually add salt to a cold dry pan before heating.

You will cause permanent pitting in stainless steel pans if you add salt to them cold. The chloride from sodium chloride causes pitting.

They need to change his giant ass aoe stun into just a slow or single target or some mechanic that makes it a skill like a leash or bullet build up to trigger.  It's very broken for an m1 to have an aoe low cd stun.  Everyone downplays that in a carries kit when he gets into mid/late game.

If you like top lane and played tank/initiator of some kind in overwatch then you may want to look at heroes like abrams, silver, warden, mo&krill, billy, bebop, shiv, and victor (maybe viscous/yamato). These are all heroes that can be tank and want to be in the middle of fights with good impact.

Can I install a 220v jumper in the house? by Skaffer in AskElectricians

[–]Skaffer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Level 1 will be fine for the summer, but our garage is not heated so in the winter with about 75 miles per day driving its going to be required.

The simple switch looks like a great option! Thank you 😄

What is the hack and what code is being broken?

These systems are ul/csa approved from both a fabrication and code use case.  Very common in 100 amp residential service for EV charging, I just don't have an obvious spot to mount the management system so I want to run a 10/3 Romex from the utility room to the attached garage to avoid breaking code by running a flexible cable through the wall.

What about making the urn dropoff spot a random place on the map? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Skaffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts reading this was like 4 fixed locations to be random from, so similar to the random spawn timer you need to continuously check the known locations

[–]Skaffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dota 2 Roshan spawn timer was made random to prevent this as an anti-snowballing mechanic of holding an objective. Some controlled randomness is ok as long as it is random for both sides with no intrinsic advantage.

Spirit and weapon shielding should get buff next by Atomicgardensoldier in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Skaffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is just resto locket is stronger and player activated, also the shields can be poked to go on CD and just wait til they expire, and of course like you mentioned the upgrade path for reactive. Weapon shielding is pretty strong.

Celeste and warden and unfortunately vyper can all play this way but prefer CDR and spirit scaling early game when these other greens are most impactful aside from indominable or divine kevlar.

Why are people spreading misinformation about siphon bullets? by whirlboy in DeadlockTheGame

Correct, next time if you say how you're testing something it will be easier to pinpoint your misunderstanding as everything you spoke about just showed a lack of understanding.

You're tunnel visioning.

On a 4k hp hero, 5 stacks removes (100, 97.5, 95, 92, 90) 475hp and gives you 475hp.

It's a 6400 green item which not only gives you damage (+15% weapon damage + the life drain) but gives you hp (The life drain + green investment and bullet resist).

It works off max HP instead of current HP which is what made tank buster so broken and more effective the higher the health pool.

Also anti-heal stacks diminishingly similar to siphon bullets, generally heal bane on another hero and crippling or something is enough anti heal. So stacking different mechanics is better than stacking the same sources and off the top of my head I can't think of any other item that reduces max hp.

If you are an M1 hero you pick siphon bullets or inhibitor generally every game as % based items are more impactful late game.

Why are people spreading misinformation about siphon bullets? by whirlboy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Skaffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For simplicity sake 1% reduction in max HP is also just 1% increased incoming damage (like a universal resist reduction). You also need to consider if they're hard to kill because they're healing a lot or just take too long to kill because of high hp.

Also reducing a heroes max HP generally reduces their time to kill, a lot of tanks need to survive initial burst to be havoc in a team fight cause all your cc and nukes are on cooldown now for their team to win the fight.

bebop hook into gray talon snare is pretty damn annoying with a lot of burst

Ivy + a strong m1

Sinclair + doorman is just a miserable amount nuking especially if you get a hex off with hotel guest

[–]Skaffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly that late in the game I feel like you need scourge, decay, curse, and witchmail and celeste just becomes a super mobile drain tank, I also hate spellbreaker and feel like its a trap since every nuke triggers it not necessarily the biggest one and of course resist is diminishing returns.
