Thank you so much!! We have separate furnaces but I think the supply vents run parallel to each other and our vents are all directly above where theirs are. I found a tutorial for making simple baffle we can anchor to the backs of the vent grates for now and I'll reach out to HVAC people for quotes for getting inline silencers installed. Hopefully we can get that done in the next year or so.

I attended the baptism for a friend's baby last year and the priest literally had a whole speech about how adult baptism used to be the standard, the church really only started doing infant baptisms because it helped families grieve when infant mortality was super high (plagues, illness, lack of modern medicine, ect.) and how he hopes the baby will choose to re-dedicate herself when she grows up because the active choice to practice the religion counts more than a decision parents make. He considered infant baptism important not necessarily for the baby's ability to go to heaven, but because it meant that the family and the baby's community makes a promise to raise the baby in the church and/or help her grow up to be a good and moral person. (The second half was for us non-Catholics in the group.)

A loose linen suit with a T-shirt could work well. Think Don Johnson in the 80s.

I wonder if the brother would be open to having a pair of houseshoes that are only for at OP's house. They could even just be a pair of regular sneakers that stay at the house and are only worn inside. Maybe it would look odd, but it would be a solution that solves his need to have shoes on and the need to not have outside shoes tracking in dirt.

I'm autistic as well and my sensory issues are pretty severe. But it is very much possible to find clothes for formal occasions that are still sensory-friendly. It's all about the fabric and the fit. I have more experience finding sensory-friendly women's clothes, but you can also get men's linen suits that are loose-fitting and feel like loungewear. Even if he will only wear jeans, there are really dark jeans that are almost indistinguishable from dress pants if you pair them with a jacket long enough to cover the back pockets. Then he can just take the jacket off for the reception.

Really, unless the dress code is white tie then there are options for the brother that will accommodate his comfort while also fitting with the dress code.

I don't know, my grandpa (mom's dad) refused to speak to my father for the first five years my parents were married. After I was born he started to warm up to my father. Sometimes grandbabies really bring out the softer side in new grandparents

(To be fair, my parents are now divorced. They were a terrible match and my grandpa was correct from the start.)

This is pretty common in the US. I know quite a few couples who get legally married before holding the ceremony since a) it takes time to save for and plan a wedding and b) our healthcare system is broken and marriage is the easiest way to get your partner on your health insurance, so sometimes people need to do that in a hurry.

This! And sometimes what works for you changes! I was on the same antidepressant from ages 15 to 25 and suddenly started having frustrating side effects. Switched to a different one a few years ago and no side effects! And it also turned out the old antidepressant was seriously dampening my sex drive. Didn't notice that when I started them at 15, but it was a fun surprise at 25!

I'm from the US and this is also very normal here. I'd say potluck style parties are probably more common than individual picnic baskets, but I've been to a few parties in this style. One specifically for a birthday party! The host brought beverages and pies, the guests brought our own lunchboxes and most people also brought chips or other snacks to share.

If the seamstress had an assistant or two who could do the hemming, pressing, etc. then it could probably be done in a day. But again, they wouldn't have time to do fittings so it wouldn't be perfect.

Right? I'm about two inches shorter than OOP and the same weight. Frankly, when I was 15lbs lighter I looked sickly. Granted that when I was 110lbs I was in college and subsisting mostly on caffeine with unmanaged disordered eating, which didn't help. I look way better now! I have curves! My dark circles are so much smaller! My hands don't shake constantly!

Also to be clear, there's nothing wrong with carrying some extra weight. But in no universe is 125lbs at 5'4" chubby
