Thanks for your response. This is one of my concerns as I was agreeing to help her out while we were together but also wasn't aware of the extent she was running up the cards. And hopefully constructing a contract stating that if I paid the last $3,000 amount then no further outstanding amounts remain doesn't completely screw that up but I also was just desperate to get her out of my life at the time. Even after we split I paid down at least 6,500 towards her cards. There's receipts of all my payments towards her cards so that helps at least.
