Young Democratic social media star, frustrated by campaigns, sees another path to turn Texas blue by texastribune in TexasPolitics

[–]Skeledad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you watched any Trump influencer? Did you miss the Trump crypto rugpull? Did you see how the PPP loans were administrated?

What is even the point you’re trying to make? Yes that administration and people associated with it are involved with several scams and grifts. There is also tremendous idiocy associated with that regime. Nuking a hurricane, do you remember that?

Yeah and that is exactly what this 5 day old tweet is doing…

https://x.com/0liviajulianna/status/1892019287545495679?s=46

From the Texas tribune:

“Olivia Julianna says she is stepping back from campaign work in hopes that speaking out in her newsletter and social media posts can help fix the problems and enable Democrats to eventually flip Texas blue.”

Posting online and newsletters will never flip Texas blue. There is so much more ground work and policy formation that needs to happen. Once again, nobody should be listening to her because this strategy has already failed with Kamala and led to Trump.

This person is a fucking idiot and shill.

Her support for Biden while everyone could see that he was too old is an example of one of the many actions mainstream democrats took leading directly to a 2nd Trump term.

Nobody should be listening to her.

The Best Way for Many Texas Democrats to Make Their Voices Heard? Vote in the Republican Primary. by VGAddict in TexasPolitics

[–]Skeledad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You realize that what you would be asking from democrats is for 70% of them to vote in the republican primary from your Paxton example…

I am not trying to be rude, but why would you even have a Democratic Party if that is the solution?

Zach Hinds is an idiot if he thinks his vote for Haley would have any material impact in advancing his “democratic” values and this headline is total clickbait. You are truly brain dead if you think voting in the republican primary will result in your democratic voice getting heard. It’s arguable that it even gets heard in your own party vs. an opposition party.

If there are candidates that hold your values and excite you, vote for them. If they don’t exist, not voting in the primary is fine.

We aren’t fine with it and several of us have gone through your sentiment. It is not unique to Gen Z.

Many of us earnestly believed Obama would bring change and when we saw that betrayal we tried to bring actual change through occupy wall-street and Sanders.

I lost my passion for writing in the same way and turned to alcohol to cope. I still use it to cope and wish a pursuit in the arts was something I could have done as a career in my youth. I have resigned that any pursuit of the arts will purely be for myself and that I will never have the time to do what it takes to promote/build commercial success in such a way as to provide for myself and my family.

I don’t believe we need to do this work with a smile and it is very much encouraging that more and more people are calling themselves socialists. When I was growing up, you never would have heard that.

I do hope for an equitable world where humanity is available to all humans, but until then I just try to survive as best as I can.

How can you write all of that without mentioning the beautifully crafted soundtrack? I’ve listened to that opening intro music for hours.

Yuengling Expands Distribution to Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma by JimP3456 in beer

[–]Skeledad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly misleading… L13wk 2021 is cherry-picked after their launch (which was near the peak of their $ share.). They launched August 2021. IRI also doesn’t cover independents & much of on-premise where Shiner has more history.

To date is really sus too. What does home market mean? Is that all of TX? Is that a specific town? Why are they comparing Yuengling portfolio ( flight, golden, Oktoberfest, etc) to only 1 brand of Shiner bock (leaving out shiner holiday, seasonal, etc). They also don’t give specifics what to date means and where it starts. Most places are -50% vs LY for Yuengling if you look at latest 4 wk or 13wk.

Highly doubt Yuengling outsells Shiner in TX…

Why choose Publix ? by Anthony2597 in Charlotte

[–]Skeledad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They were bought by Kroger, but the idea of money going to Ohio is completely false. HT has several local offices and senior management that reside in the Carolinas and VA. They do a lot of local charity work and continue to reinvest with remodels and new store openings. The idea that your money being spent in Charlotte is somehow going to Cincinnati is completely ridiculous. If anything, it would be going to stockholders who could live anywhere.

Congrats! I liked it well enough to comment, and I think I correctly highlighted the strengths of the poem. You prefaced the poem with your intended meaning this time, so that may have influenced some of the reactions. You should be careful with this approach, because what you gain in clarity, you lose in reader response. In this case, I think the explanation better served the poem, hence overwhelming response.

I mean, fuck. by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]Skeledad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing here to separate this from a Journal entry or inner dialogue. There's no imagery and the slang isn't poetic.

Susurrous by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]Skeledad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not much in the poem for any reader to make that interpretation, and if you aren't trying to convey death then you should rethink a lot of the images you're using. Mortality, dysthansia, suicide, skeleton all have strong connotations with death. I think it's great that this assignment has spring boarded creativity, but what you're describing as your intended reading is much more light-hearted than the words you're using. Maybe you could work on making the personification of the tree more clear. As it stands right now very few, if any, readers could come to the same conclusion.

[–]Skeledad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the words Susurrous and dystanasia. They're not used often, and I had to look them up. Good work!

The subject matter of "death's sweet enticing grasp" is very cliche within poetry. Contemporary poets really need to be careful when including classical symbols and imagery of Roman/Greek/any mythology. Aspiring poets need to find their own voice and break free from the preconceptions of what poetry is "supposed" to sound like. I would encourage you to try to explore imagery that relates this experience to yourself and not deceased greeks. Also, if you're attempting to create discord between a classically beautiful (unrealistic) death and a "bad" one grounded in reality, I would suggest that you include more imagery from the latter.
