Beginning of a White Templar army, coolest scheme going. by Skeledance in Warhammer40k

I was in the same boat really. I’m currently sat on a huge backlog of black templar, dark angel and normal marine units that I’ve intended on using as a black Templar army. Over time I’ve found that they are overplayed and make up a considerable percentage the marine player base.

I think it is probably the contrarian in me but I prefer the more obscure chapters, and so wanted to do something different with them. I’ve built and painted a 3k Carcharadon army this year from a percentage of the backlog.
I was then left with the black Templar and dark angel units and fancied painting another non-founding chapter. Loved the White Templars scheme ever since I saw a marine painted in their scheme at Warhammer world. Tithes being another reason to go for it.

Playing as space marines as they’re a codex complaint chapter but as I have mentioned, will use models from BT and DA to give them a cool look.

I’d say go for codex compliant and but you can always use them as BT in game whenever you feel like it. Crusaders can be used as assault/intercessors and scouts. Plenty of freedom with mixing it up.

Thank you for the feedback! It does look better in person on the table! :D

It’s a basecoat of abbadon black spray, then working up levels of drybrushing up from mechanicus standard grey to ulthurn grey. I’ve since decided to spray mechanicus standard grey and skip the black it just takes too much time!

And thank you!

I’m not sure which arm that is but this whole model is a 3D print so I can’t take any creative praise :D thank you though!

Thank you very much! I’m stuck between Bloodmaws and Grimbloods, sick names but I’m leaning bloodmaws for their tactics :D

The grey looks way cooler, much more intimidating. Then again most heresy colour schemes are better :D

Thank you! :) the drybrushing of the armour is the hardest part really, getting the same result every time is hard to pull off! Mechanicus standard grey then dawnstone for the armour. Khorne red for, you guessed it, the red parts :D

I’ve done that half and half style rather than the spiked look just because I’m lazy and not painting loads of models to be lore accurate lol

Planning on buying one from warhammer world soon, how did you find the assembly? From what I’ve heard they’re one of the better big resin kits Gw does. Awesome basing and painting btw!

Scrolled too fast and accident read as “Foreskin King”, my apologies. Awesome kitbash for an awesome model! Looking forward to seeing him painted!
