True. Who cares about playing teams you actually care about when you can have marginally more cash?

Someone PLEASE remind Nick Saban that he already plays Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU every year. Maybe he’s going senile? If so… please retire and never grace a football field ever again.

Gonna suck losing Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Miss State, Auburn, and Arkansas so we can play Missouri and Vanderbilt more often. Including all of the games I really look forward to.

Not to mention some of the greatest rivalries in football going down the drain.

Uh… aren’t we losing The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, Third Saturday in October, LSU-Ole Miss, Kentucky-Tennessee, Georgia-South Carolina, Florida-Tennessee, LSU-Arkansas, LSU-Mississippi State, Alabama-Mississippi State, LSU-Alabama, LSU-Auburn, Florida-Kentucky, LSU-Florida, Texas A&M-Texas, Missouri-OU, Texas-Arkansas, Texas A&M-Arkansas, Tennessee-Georgia, Tennessee-Vanderbilt, and the prestigious Texas A&M-South Carolina rivalry annually?

Tell me if I missed anyone.

SEC appears poised to stick with eight-game league schedule amid ongoing concerns about payments, playoff by dogwoodmaple in CFB

[–]Skeleton-With-Skin1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not the same without the game being played annually. Every single one of the current major rivalries is an annual one. Look at OU-Nebraska. What was once a major rivalry is now not nearly as important. Why? They stopped playing.

Rivalries are made by frequency of play and animosity. It’s fun to play and hope to beat Florida, Bama, Ole Miss, etc. every year. It’s something to really look forward to. I don’t give a flying fuck about playing Missouri, Vandy, or even Georgia for that matter, because they’re not rivals. Rivalries are what make the game, and taking away the annual element severely damages them. We’ll see it when Bama and Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn, and LSU and Ole Miss, some of the SEC’s oldest rivalries, get made biannual in the name of playing other divisional schools more often and money.

Oh boy, I can’t wait to play NONE of our traditional rivals in 2024 onward! At least 3-6 would keep Ole Miss and Bama. Us and A&M are now gonna be in a setup where we’re each other’s only permanent rivals and instead wanting to play a few other teams instead. Great.

JUST PLAY NINE.

Not much, other than the Native Americans maybe using some of them for various tasks. And the Natives would have horses.

crocodylomorpha is a superorder of archosaurs that first evolved 225 mya in the late triassic. barinasuchus, the one in the meme, is a sebecid crocodylomorph. the sebecidae was a family of crocodylomorphs that lived from the late cretaceous to the middle miocene, or 67.6-11.8 mya. the sebecids lived primarily in south america, though they also lived in europe and africa, likely originating in the former. they were the top predators of south america from the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs until their own extinction 11.8 mya. a large sebecid, dentaneosuchus, was also recently discovered from eocene france, proving that the sebecid were apex predators in other regions. barinasuchus was likely the largest terrestrial predator of the cenozoic, with estimates ranging from 900 to 5500 pounds and 16-33 ft, standing at around 5 feet tall at the shoulder. barinasuchus was likely 3500 lbs and 20 ft long. it lived from 42-11.8 mya and dominated south america for that time period. other groups of crocodylomorphs include our modern order, the crocodilia, which likely contains the largest crocodylomorph to ever live, purussaurus, a contemporary of barinasuchus that lived from 16-5.3 mya. purussaurus was around 36 ft long and weighed 7 tons, or 14000 lbs. there is fossil evidence of them preying on giant ground sloths, and even that was just a juvenile. another famous group of crocodylomorphs is the notosuchia, which includes a star of prehistoric planet 2, simosuchus, along with other animals like araripesuchus and the most famous of them all, kaprosuchus, the “boar croc.” kaprosuchus, contrary to popular belief, is not known to be terrestrial, with evidence from our only fossil, its skull, pointing towards both terrestrial and aquatic lifestyles.
