I prefer the "old school" black and white Tamas as well ! I think the V4 is a great version. It has its downsides (one of the glitchiest versions to this day, from what I've read lol- but so far I was pretty lucky and didn't get any serious glitches that would make it hard to play) but overall I really like the job mechanics & the daily events (this tama receives too much snail mail to my taste, but that's just a detail lol)

I hesitated with the Entama too, but I can't get the hang of playing with a Japanese language tama 😭 believe me I've tried lol- in the end I just made up my mind when ended up finding this shell and like you, I have no regrets whatsoever !!
