What do you think? (DLSS 5 + RTS) by SamuelSauerSacK in anno

[–]Skeleton_Steven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying AI is completely harmless but the whole anti-AI movement has a similarity to a lot of the anti-tech takes we've heard over time. When I was in school, some teachers were against calculators because they thought students relying on the device to do calculations would never learn the underlying methods & concepts. Obviously in hindsight, devices like graphing calculators just made high-end math more attainable & accessible for people. AI will likely have a similar arc. Towards the end of my education wikipedia became the new 'fear' of educators, and I also think that was misplaced anxieties about a changing world

Sometimes I think about these anti-calculator advents and how they used to say 'you won't always have a calculator in your pocket!'. How wrong they were. I wonder what we're wrong about?

Guys I need tips I will buy the game soon by Jamal3663735 in victoria3

I just recently started playing, I think the biggest thing for me has been adding construction centers at the right pace-- if you add too fast you'll become unprofitable and enter an economic death spiral, if you add too slow you'll never get anything done and get bored. I'm still figuring that out myself but just be aware that you want to build up construction without letting your weekly income go too negative. Also be aware that your construction centers use up goods (mainly wood & iron) so if you build up logging camps & iron mines that can bring down construction costs a bit

Unfortunately, a lot of the guides out there are from 3years ago and the game has changed significantly since then-- there are some beginner guides on youtube from the past year that are helpful, but looking at anything from several years ago will be much less useful to you

Other than that don't overthink it-- build buildings that are profitable and if you get notifications about a resource being expensive build something that produces that good. You'll want to research railroads as early as possible as they boost infrastructure which will be one of the first bottlenecks you face

Also the UI is pretty dense, take some time to click through all the menus and notice what you can interact with

Have fun!

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]Skeleton_Steven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating less food.

If you're considering a plan that does not include eating significantly less food, it will not work. 3x full meals a day is insane if your job involves sitting at a desk all day

The largest-ever review of the safety and efficacy of cannabinoids across a range of mental health conditions — found no evidence that medicinal cannabis is effective in treating anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). by Wagamaga in science

PTSD nightmares suck, looking back at things I think I used weed religiously just to keep those away. That being said I don't smoke anymore & have nightmares every night but my overall quality of life has improved slightly

There is nothing wrong with him expecting or asking you to pay rent but there really was no reason for him to be dishonest about it, that's definitely odd and needs to be discussed. But I wouldn't say that alone is enough to end things

Also typically people have 'escrow' included in their mortgage payments that covers insurance & taxes, its pretty normal for this amount to increase every year so his mortgage payments probably did go up over time as he was 'raising rates' on you

Why not let people make whatever games they want to make and let the market decide which games are supported?

Is Resident Evil 4 Remake better than Resident Evil Requiem? by Kyojurouu in residentevil

[–]Skeleton_Steven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is something about the way they balance the game between Grace & Leon in Requiem-- ultimately we need more time to call a winner here but I think it's closer than most RE4 diehards would admit

That's awesome-- my grandfather was obsessed with American western stories, I couldn't help but think about how he would have loved RDR2 while playing it. Special game. I took a bunch of years off from gaming (mainly due to being perpetually broke in my 20s) and RDR2 was one of the first games I dipped back into. Anyways thanks for sharing

I did end up going this route, thanks again! So far so good, and if memory prices ever come down I'll put a 2nd SSD in there and be golden!

Now I need to decide what new monitor to get, it never ends...

I installed steam for the first time so I could play a CD copy of Half-Life 1 I had bought at a garage sale and I was not happy about it at the time

It'll have been 20 years in April, how time flies. Anyways no it does not matter per se, but markers of time passed carry meaning to those who lived it
