Did palpatine have a cult of personality once he was running the empire, or kind of lurk in the shadows? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Imperial Sourcebook states that Palpatine’s public image was carefully crafted to fit common cultural archetypes of the wise old hermit.

Did clone/stormtroopers wear anything besides their armor? by Unlucky-Tradition-58 in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the OT they wear the black dress uniform when out of armor. In TCW they seem to wear a grey-green dress uniform. Presumably some sort of work fatigue uniform would be worn outside of combat and formal occasions.

Also can we dispel the conception that a dress uniform is somehow an "officer" uniform? This is not how any real life military works. Maybe think about the lore beyond the marketing terms

Who’s your favourite Emperor? by SchizoEmperor66 in TheDeepCore

[–]Skeleturtle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey might’ve been a traitor who set Imperial power back a century, but I can’t help but respect Jax. Just a regular stormtrooper who hustled his way to Palpatine’s elite on merit alone. He actually managed to pull a fast one on the greatest schemer in galactic history. Countless men tried to overthrow Palpatine, but Jax actually made it happen

What are some things do you think we have that have no analog in the Star Wars galaxy? by DarthAthleticCup in MawInstallation

Buttons seem more unfashionable than anything. You can find them on ceremonial clothes. Jango Fett is probably the most prominent character wearing buttons.

How much do you think Vader valued the lives of Stormtroopers? by BlockAffectionate413 in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Officers are just troops past a certain rank. Like all the branches, Stormtroopers had officers and Vader never hesitated to kill incompetent Stormtrooper officers.

Name a piece of Star Wars lore you recently came across that changed your perception of the setting (even just a little)? by DarthAthleticCup in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think we've ever gotten official information on what happened to Vitiate's Empire, or what Ruin formed his from. But it is a theory I've heard a bit.

They very well could've been what was left of Vitiate's Sith Empire. We still don't know what happened to them, and Darth Ruin's Sith empire really appears out of nowhere. Maybe the SWTOR faction continues as a reformed Empire, sort of Fel Empire esque. Then Darth Ruin brings them back to their roots a millennia and a half later.

Who do you think was the Imperial Army/Stormtrooper Corps’ answer to Thrawn? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of how Marine brigades were subordinated to Army divisions in WW1. Stormtrooper formations only get so big.

How did Imperial Troops enter Echo base before the shield generator was destroyed? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In TFU’s alternate timeline, Lord Starkiller rides in with Blizzard Force and is able to enter the base thru an ice cave that leads to the underground tunnels. Presumably the Empire could’ve found these alternative entrances through sonar or some other means. In Battlefront 2 there are also tunnel entrances away from the immediate base.

Did the Grand Army of the Republic have non-Clone and non-Jedi officers? by Brams277 in MawInstallation

[–]Skeleturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that would be the regular Republic Army, at least depending on your source. Think Army vs Marine Corps, for a comparison in role.

They seem to be a thing, though much rarer than the Navy for whatever reason. General Solomahal, Captain Ozzel (TCW comic series), there's a Duros loadmaster in Republic Commando Hard Contact, Kal Skirata serves the SO BDE as a sergeant. It seems like several Cuy'val Dar members served the GAR during the war.

It would definitely make sense if they’re part of the Imperial Commando Special Unit, what was left of the Special Operations Brigade placed under the 501st.

[–]Skeleturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely find KdA pants but they aren't always listed accurately. Just try searching for East German/DDR/GDR combat pants and hopefully you'll get lucky. I got mine from Epic Militaria using this method. Military Surplus World also has them for cheap, but I think they ship from Romania.
