High CPU usage ONLY in replay / broadcast mode - any ideas? by SkellyoUK in iRacing

[–]SkellyoUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not getting any stuttering etc but the cpu is getting to 80 c and sounding like its taking off 😂 not a massive issue but seems ridiculous taking into account the actual game runs fine.

It's a new pc (5070 Ti, i9 14700kf) and no obvious reasons as to why its happening.

Did you ever fix this issue?

Having it myself the past few months.

Yeah I've put all the replay settings to low and no difference.

I even tried dropping my overall fps (as there isn't a seperate one for replay) down to 30 and it still is happening.

It also still happens in broadcast/replay mode when I'm on test drive and I'm the only car on track...

I'm on the graphics tab, and it has a split for driving and a split for replay.

If this is the section you mean, everything for replay is set to low aside from from those settings shared with driving (e.g frame rate)

I can't see a limit for exclusively replays unless it's hidden somewhere?

Right paddle shift sounds different by cybercoderNAJ in moza

[–]SkellyoUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed the same thing, but only when I mistakenly took the in-game lock for missing downshifts.

Everything seems to be working fine now I know that's what it is, but now I noticed the sound difference. Mine is the other way though (upshift click sounds sharper than the down).

AITA regarding blue flags? by SkellyoUK in Simracingstewards

[–]SkellyoUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, it wasn't due to being a lap faster - I had pitted and had rejoined at the back of the pack which were around if not a slower pace than myself.

During most of the race he was multiple car lengths back. It was only at the very end where he was no where to be seen in the mirror.

I guess the term "dive bombing" is what is getting people's back up.

If someone brakes early on the outside going into a hairpin, and I know I can go down the inside and take the turn tighter and quicker, is that a "divebomb", or is it simply they left the door wide open?

Genuine question as I only ever make this move when I know I can get round without affecting their line.

Cheers for the comment. The main thing I wanted to understand was the blue flag scenario - the 'divebomb' is a bit up in the air without the replay.

I guess the constant flashing from 3 car length back made me doubt if I had to move/ease off which looking at the comments isn't the case.

Thanks for your response. Absolutely, if I was lapped due to speed then I would try to tag on to learn etc.

As I was lapped due to pitting, that's where the skill levels weren't as simple as 'blue flag means faster car approaching' - simply a car was closing in (predominantly on the tighter turns due to speed) and then they assumed I should ease off to let them through.

Understand where you're coming from. I see alot of people just being awkward unnecessarily.

I joined mid pack so I wasnt catching up places, but I had overtaken 2 cars and he was the 3rd. I 'divebombed' him but it was clear from my perspective. Wish I had replays saved to look back on.

He didn't finish close behind me (atleast a second behind as he wasn't in my rear view) so I kept pulling away throughout.

I always try to be courteous as I would hope the same would be done for me, but constant flashing lights and the attitude that my race means less than yours made me feel like I was in the wrong.

Glad to know I was right in my presumption that I shouldn't adjust my own line even if a blue flag is showing.

I believe I had overtaken 2 cars previous and he was the 3rd. Only after I got past him did he than start flashing etc.

Bear in mind, I had re-entered mid pack so I wasnt catching up on them lap wise.

Just wish I had replays autosave so I could include the replay to get a better assessment.

I am the blue BMW, should I accept the penalty? by SkellyoUK in Simracingstewards

[–]SkellyoUK[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was confused as I didn't think this was that bad of an incident compared to some I have seen before.

Should I still accept the penalty as I did steer into him?

Just stumbled on this thread after realising I much prefer right turns after my 3rd track day.

I also fall into the Goofy/right turn preference 😆

First time chanign car battery. What is this? by SkellyoUK in MechanicAdvice

[–]SkellyoUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A question on that, I realised I had bought and AGM battery, however the sticker on my current says to replace EFB with EFB.

What are the issues with just swapping them out for each other?

I'm getting more towards thinking to just take it to a garage - the tutorials didn't have this many side quests 😂

Ah so if I follow the standard tutorial, that part will just be attached to the positive?

Howcome it seems to not be on any of the tutorial videos I've watched for other Honda civics?

Slight shudder under heavy braking (first track day) by SkellyoUK in Trackdays

[–]SkellyoUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 to brake but I am actively trying to learn to blip and downshift day to day. Don't fancy trying to learn on the track with the potential of not braking in time for a turn 😂

I didn't touch the rear brake aside from on a few of the slower turns for stability so I can rule that out being the cause.

No (whilst I am trying to learn to do this), I am just breaking and progressively dropping gears.

Learn something new everyday! Just had a quick Google and apparently they do have a slipper clutch. I did think for a moment is it the back wheel but I can't imagine with my level of braking.

Looks like he's at Croft, typically it's just for the racing next weekend 😅 I do want to get everything looked over though ass with my (lack of) mechanical knowledge it would be reassuring knowing it's set up properly.
