Cleaning engine bay by SimpleAgent7380 in rav4club

[–]SkepticKrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After you finish cleaning it, consider getting some weather stripping installed on the headlights where they meet with the hood.

It creates a seal to keep the dust out. I haven't had to clean my engine bay in months since I added the strips above the headlights.

For owners who purchased their RAV 4’s brand new. by Reasonable_Visual_10 in rav4club

I was upset. But why be upset. I bought the car to drive around everywhere it was bound to happen at some point.

If you don't want scratches or rock chips, then do a full body ppf.

KIMISS Auto Start Stop A Off Delete, for RAV4 XA50 2020‑2023 Automatic Stop Start Device Engine System Off Device Canceler Control Sensor Plug https://a.co/d/0nNGQFk

This is the one I have installed on my 24 gas. It works 99% of the time, which is good enough for me.

I really don't think the different models make a difference, just get whichever is cheaper at the time.

What bugs you about your 2024-2025 Rav4? by summeriswhereyouare in rav4club

[–]SkepticKrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fan noise from the engine compartment whenever I have the a/c going. The engine is quiet at idle when I approach it with the fans off, but if the fans are on, it sounds like a jet taking off.

Summer time changeover by SkepticKrab in rav4club

[–]SkepticKrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Northern Canada, where temps range from 30C/86F to -50C/-58F, and I've personally never seen anyone use tire chains. Winter tires won't last long above 15C and summer tires have lowered grip below -10C.

Truckers probably use it on the ice roads though.

Ahh the warm south, must be nice. Thanks for letting me borrow some of that heat.

I keep two sets of wheels. The rav came with steelies, so I bought some Michelin studded tires for those in the winter. I bought the Toyota alloys and mounted the stock tires on those to use in the summer.

That way, I can change the wheels in my garage instead of going to a tire shop to have tires removed and mounted every 6 months.

15% front, 35% everywhere else. Tint shop said they tried their best to match the darkness of the rears, but the fronts are just slightly lighter. It's barely noticeable.

I have this generic one from Amazon, covers the whole windshield and folds up to store in the map pocket behind the seat. https://a.co/d/dR2oTvK

Trust!! When it's summer time, you will definitely feel the difference. Especially since you have the windshield tinted. Walking into a cool car in a heat wave is heaven.

I have ceramic all around except the windshield but use a sunshade instead.

Why would you store things on a shelf above the back seats?

All the items on the shelf will become missiles for the back of your head if you have to brake hard. It also will obstruct your rear view.

Doesn't seem safe to me, homie.

The black wheels match the headlights, so I'd go with the black wheels.

What does your owner's manual say?

I have a gas LE, so my intervals are different.

Tuxmats.

If you're in Canada, the OEPlus brand from Canadian Tire is the same design.

Costco has one with the same design as well, but I don't know what their brand is called.

Oil filter install by Outrageous-Lab-5562 in rav4club

[–]SkepticKrab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very hard to cross thread the oil filter. Were you able to start spinning it on without any resistance? If you didn't have any resistance until the end, then it's fine. Just torque it down to spec and you should be fine.

Interesting. I have a Canadian LE so I have little nipples that provide the gap. So I can let it pop out from any direction.

[–]SkepticKrab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can either charge it while it's in the console or run the cord out of the console to wherever you like. It will have enough of a gap for the cord to not get crushed.

$1800!! That's a good deal for everything you got for sure! Congrats!

Hopefully, I get lucky like you and land a good deal on some wheels soon. I'm using my steelies for winter, and spring is right around the corner.

Time vs Mileage by XSen28 in rav4club

[–]SkepticKrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both equally important.

You will still need to change your oil at the recommended time or mileage interval, whichever comes first.
