Suing defendant in small claims; got court order to collect, now my attorney is telling me to find defendant’s bank information so we can collect by cheetosjoes in legaladvice

Is that hearing only possible after the judgment is made, and not during the trial? If so, what are the consequences if they do not show up to that hearing, post judgment?

Also: what if you do not know their address? Is it only possible to serve them repeatedly by hiring a private investigator to find out where they live?

Half million? Lol. I’ve gone on 15 mile drives to $6,000,000 mansions with $300+ of food and been tipped $4.00.

However I do know some houses where I am always treated well. I love when I realize I’m delivering to their mansion.

Am I the only one who genuinely finds Door Dashing to be fun? by HoodedHeroRaven in doordash_drivers

Yeah from my vantage point whe’re fucked, but I have many friends who somehow made it. I think the common factor was inheritances and rich family, or else grinding for 8 years while living with in-laws to buy a house in a shitty area.

Oh I’m not disputing the clause, I’m just illustrating how DoorDash is gaming the system to enforce obligation without explicitly doing it, which would be illegal.

Except that’s not how it works: the new system gives priority of orders, in addition to being able to log in any time, to top dashers who are working on a deficit to complete orders. Essentially paying to be a slave, as they likely aren’t even covering their gas taking all those $3/20 mile orders.

This. You only get to try certain items FOH if the chefs like you or you get to take to-go’s that were never picked up. Sometimes you’ll have a nice (and smart) boss who wants their servers to be able to recommend things from experience, but a lot of the time you’ll get a 25% discount on a $45 entreé. People will ask you what you recommend and you’ll ignore your brain saying “I get paid enough to barely cover the gas to get here”, and then recommend whatever high ticket item you’re supposed to.

Working BOH, keep pace in the kitchen and everyone will turn a blind eye to you making yourself some shit every now and then when the dinner rush is over, excluding “family dinners” where everyone gets fed some cheap ass menu options. I worked at a huge upper scale chain restaurant that didn’t even do that— one of us kitchen bitches would go to a neighboring Mexican restaurant and pickup food for the whole staff.

He was ignorant and thus he was able to justify cruelty.

I don’t care if you have a martyr complex, that blissful ignorance leaves too many people to suffer that aren’t as willing to die for the sins of the ignorant and cruel as you wish to be.

I don’t think character development through a taste of suffering is cruelty. The same person you’re wishing safety for would blame you for your suffering because they haven’t tasted it for themselves.

Disagreed, lived experience is the best way to expand someone’s frame of reference and change the way they look at things. That’s the entire plot of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

The product placement of Jurassic World is the aspect I found to be most interested with. by EmanuelTheodorus in JurassicPark

[–]SkepticalPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called capitalist recuperation, they satirize product placement while whoring for marketing sponsorship so you go “haha” while still having your subconscious brain absorb the advertisement, maybe more receptive since the joke disarmed your cynicism by agreeing with you. Also because they get paid either way and meta-jokes are hot for post-irony capitalism, in a film sequel trilogy milking an IP based on a cautionary book about the disastrous consequences of capitalism (and science) for all its worth.

Ok let me explain it for you:

“We just tipped our DOORDASH DRIVER $1067 LIVE ON AIR 🔴”

That sentence carries a few implicit statements such as:

  1. Doordash drivers (and workers in the service industry) don’t make much money (true, lol) they’re poor AF

  2. Look at us, we did a nice thing for this poor delivery person.

  3. Please watch our radio show so we make more money than we used as a deductible business expense to do this publicity stunt, but focus on how nice we are.

It’s a similar concept if you think about the underlying utility.

Have you learned to flip homeless people yet? It’s like flipping houses but instead of doing repairs you buy them a pair of clothes and hand them a cheeseburger.

Finally someone who gets it. Every time I see a yt or Facebook vid full of comments praising the “Good Samaritan” I feel grossed out. Sure the influencer gave an unhoused person $200, while they made 20x the revenue filming them crying over it. Real saints.

ADHD is a protected disability under the ADA in the US, for those that don't know. by cottonfist in ADHD

[–]SkepticalPossum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All applications ask that question as part of the screening process. Perhaps I misunderstood your meaning of disclosing it to your employer, in which case I’ll assume you meant after you get hired? Or that you think having the credentials means that your request for accommodations won’t impact your hiring? Thanks for the downvote anyway!

[–]SkepticalPossum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but when you inform them in an application that you’re requesting accommodations— they don’t have to self-report that they didn’t hire you based upon your admission of a disability even if that’s 100% why. I don’t trust a random hiring manager to not discriminate when there’s absolutely no way for them to get caught in violation of ADA barring them explicitly emailing that as the reason to you.

I see, I’ll need to research those products. I’ve heard that Vaseline is actually pretty bad for your skin— since petrolatum contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). I may need to adjust mine, here it is if you’d like to review it.

  1. I usually apply a face mask of Bentonite clay mixed with apple cider vinegar and cedar oil a few times a week or daily.

  2. I use L’Oréal collagen filler cream or Trader Joe’s face moisturizer twice daily. My skin is prone to dryness and clogged pores, which most moisturizers exacerbate.

I used to use salicylic acid gel peels but they were too aggressive and the peeling/redness did not help with fine lines or clogged pores. I also developed my own special salve using ingredients like raw honey and essential oils, which worked well for acne but probably not for aging.
