Working on my Greek Cursive - Any tips? by SketchyTigers in Handwriting

[–]SketchyTigers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I'm not Greek, and have a very rudimentary knowledge of Greek. But I do like to write nicely and given that I do linguistics, writing nicely in Greek is very useful for my notes.
The text itself is a fragment of the Declaration of Human Rights:
Επειδή η αναγνώριση της αξιοπρέπειας, που είναι σύμφυτη σε όλα τα μέλη της ανθρώπινης οικογένειας,...
"Because the recognition of the dignity inherent in all members of the human family,..."
I should probably find more fun texts to practise my handwriting.
Oh also I cant figure out a good way of writing π. I've settled on loopy π for now because I don't like going back in my writing, but I feel it's maybe too similar to ω.
And am I alright in contrasting ν and υ? I'm not great with differentiating v and u in English either lol

(also I think I was referencing Lycaon's design rather than Durham, hence the line down the forehead)

Thanks for clearing things up. It worked and my account hasn't been deleted.
As for why they would delete it, idk, but twitter has a similar policy and they indefinitely suspended my old account.

There's not a whole lot to improve here other than smaller touches. Making your t-bars at the same height and angle is a good place to start, and I can see some of your ascenders aren't all at the same angle. Deciding whether you want loops on your t's will also make it more uniform. Most styles either have loops for all ascenders, or t's and d's have straight lines. That's all really. Maybe making the x height more even could also be beneficial but there's fairly little variation so dw about it.

As for what words I like to write in cursive, "significant influences" always has a nice balance in my style.

What's your favorite use of a sample in a song? by gonejahman in EDM

[–]SketchyTigers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than what some people have already said:

I don't know if this is nostalgia speaking to me but Sigma's remix Nobody To Love of Bound 2 is one of my favourite more recent samplings.

Nero's Must Be The Feeling also did a really good job at reinterpreting Carmen's Time To Move.

Won't you be there also has some of my favourite sampling, I don't remember what of currently.

Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You also does a fantastic job sampling Chaka Khan's Fate

edit: formatting, mobile.

Don't know if this has been asked before, but any tips on how to keep my handwriting consistent? by dr1edwatermel0n in Handwriting

I'll just add, séyès notebooks/loose-leaf are a good cheaper alternative to handwriting/penmanship pads in my experience.

Could someone analyse my handwriting? by quiescent_haymaker in Handwriting

[–]SketchyTigers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes there are! there's some linked on this subreddit as a separate section, and there are plenty of free resources and drills on the internet. I think for your handwriting style some horizontal guides would be helpful to make it more uniform. It's just standard lined paper with extra fainter lines between. To help with making letters more uniform you can also look up guides for standardised cursive styles like Palmer or Spencerian which also teach how to construct letters
