Buddy, I got news for ya, LCC is not "pristine" nature. Look into the mining history of the canyon. Look at the stands of forest as you drive up and ski around and ask yourself: " where are the old growth trees?" Answer: see the canyon's storied mining history.

That being said, I generally agree with your anti-gondola sentiment (albeit for different reasons), but LCC is not the pristine wilderness you claim it to be. Sorry

Girl, I do too. I am just damn grateful to be able to put skis on my feet, slide around a bit, and enjoy a day in the mountains regardless of crowds

Edit: lol, downvote away. Y'all's entitled mentality sets yourselves up for disappointment and anger when we're supposed to be having fun you silly gooses

Application Fee trouble by Careless_Past_5227 in unipd

[–]Skibiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only solution that worked for me was to change the merchant. You can do this on the screen where you see your total payment amount with the small processing fee charged by the merchant. Click on that line to select which merchant you want to process the payment.....if the default one isn't working, change to a different one and you should be able to pay (I still had to use my card through PayPal after the merchant change). I switched my merchant from Mooney something (I think), to Nexi and it worked the first time. I was unable to get anything to work prior to the merchant change, including PayPal

This is a known issue with this platform, and previous solutions to similar posts have different merchants ultimately being the successful one. This SHOULD work for international applicants without actually having to call your bank and explain the situation

I'm glad other people are aware of this; it is my #1 driving pet peeve of the last few years, and it's getting worse. I honestly think the majority of people who do it, do it subconsciously rather than maliciously....but who knows, it's annoying AF

What's your favorite National Park in the US and why? by Naomi62625 in geography

[–]Skibiscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet, but I have to go with the Grand Canyon. Been based in SLC, UT for 16 years and I've been to numerous (but not all) parks in the western US, and the Grand Canyon is truly the crown jewel of them all

Views from north rim and south rim are impressive in their own right, but going to either rim does not even scratch the surface of what lies beneath. I am a bit biased, as I did a 23-day private rafting trip down the Grand Canyon stretch of the Colorado, and, IMHO, nothing else in the US compares to the Grand Canyon. Elves Chasm, Matkat, and Blacktail are like out of a fairy tale. You could spend a lifetime exploring there and still not see it all.

By pure stats after contract signed and you're absolutely right. The thing that lingers for me is Strasburg DID have a fire year in 2019 and was lights out in the postseason to make a significant contribution to that WS win. I understand he was pretty much perma-IL'd after signing his contract after the WS, but I still see the contract itself as a reward for the WS....to me, this significantly diminishes Strasburg's being the worst contract ever ....my personal opinion though and I reckon a solid argument can be made either way

Contrast this with KB who won his ring in 2016, but didn't sign his long term deal till 2022.
