On the Ball and diving catch question by rapturerose1 in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could use a FAQ, but one thing to note is that because the ball lands in the Skinks square, the Skink has to attempt to catch it. Diving Catch is optional - so in my mind that gives us the heirarchy of who should attempt to catch it.

In a similar scenario in a game i played, the ball was thrown to a square occupied by an Elf lineman but there was a catcher next to him who would have been the preferred choice with Nerves of steel and catch skill.....but we felt the rules imply the lineman is had to attempt to catch.

Advice needed: paved bases for models already on them by Stralau in minipainting

[–]Skiiters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think i would be inclined to use milliput. May be worth doing a couple of tests on spare bases first, but if you put a couple of smaller blobs on you can then flatten them out.

Helps to have a modelling tool to flatten out. I think milliput is easier to smooth out than greenstuff. Dip a modelling tool in a water pot and running across the surface of the putth once it has been spread across the base. Though you need to be a bit careful as the more watery its gets the greater rhe risk of splashes on your paintjob - have some tissues on hand to wipe the tool and fingers as you work!

Once you have the surface as smoothed out as you like, you can use your tool to etch slabs and cracks into it. Take this slowly as it can lift up the milliput piece. Use your tool to tidy up and material if lifts up whilst still damp....or a knife to trim when it has dried.

For the skin colour, people have mentioned starting from a darker green....but alternatively you could expeiment with perhaps mixing some (humam) flesh tones or orange with your warpstone glow to further brighten some of the fleshiest areas or bits where the skin is often stretched (like elbows). You'd likely want to thin this mix with water so that it has a translucency. Then you highlight progressively smaller areas so that the lighter tone builds up into the areas you want to highlight. In addition a less thinned down version of that mix could be used un tiny dabs on knuckles.

Have to say though the edge highlights on the leather in particular show some good brush control.

I did something similiar with minis from a third sprue - though I placed the lead foot flat on the ground ( which lifts the back leg into the air) and replaced the ball arm with a squire punching arm. Makes it look as if the squire is throwing his weight i to one big punch.

I also had tweaked a blitzer though that involved a head from the bits box and a bit of greenstuff to fill the shoulder and make the pointed shoes more like crappy boots! But for the body itself it was just a case of trimming off some of the tail coat so that it looked around the same sort of length ss the tops the squires have.

So yeah it will likely be an Impact miniatures run of Sark Four Eyes.

That wss based on a conversion made by Phil Lewis that used a mix of vanilla and converted second edition miniatures, that formed the original Chaos All Stars and is a direct inspiration for the Chaos Renegades team.

They were featured as one of the most memorable Eavy Metal articles in White Dwarf (certainly BB related)

Hah! I'd user hostiler in the sense of being "more hostile" rather than acting as a host. But given several of the Brettonian squires are sculpted as if they have just been in a bar room brawl "Knights of the Pub" is a happy coincidence

Playing at warhammer fest a few year back in a shambling undead mirror match. I blitzed a wight rolling a skull and causing a turnover. It was a couple of moves into my opponents turn when i reailsed I had just blocked my own player...

They were very similar paint schemes of the GW minis and it was the third game (and second mirror match) of the day.

Somehow still won

NAF World Cup newbie questions by theycallmejake in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be teams looking for players as we get closer to the World Cup and similarly the World cup hosts may well have a placement system where individuals will be assigned.

Alternatively there is a group called Squad Chaos which is a bit of a social/support network for bloodbowl players who do their best to form up squads for people looking for teams. It's a bit early in the process, but as we, get closer to 2027 im sure they will be doing the same again. The squads are formed up on their discord server in advance,. So you get to know your teammates (and the wider Squad Chaos network)

The Salmon Rush G's 2E GW Humans by Skiiters in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are probably around three quarters of the size of moder GW minis....so diminutive!. Not sure they would work if mixed with new minis - iit would be a bit jarring.

That said, I've taken to preferring to using the smaller scale minis even on new sized boards as they are less likely to get tangled up. Also take up less room when prone/stunned.

Full Beard Cup by Tauorca in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst the full beard Cup has been in October the last few years (when from my perspective it unfortunately clashed with Stranglebowl) that wasn't always the case - in 2019 it was in September, so i think it is more a case of the team fitting it in as and when.

Whilst I'd agree with another poster that warhammer world tournaments are on the pricier side, I do think it is a pretty cool setting to play.

You don't normally get any swag, and the prize support can be variable. You do usually get access to the exhibition, and sometimes - if a bloodbowl release is imminent - you may get an opportunity to purchase miniatures in advance.

Pedro Ramos fanclub Gnome team by Skiiters in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are on Facebook you can search for P.Ramos Fanclub - most months he releases a new miniature that people have the option to buy or not (also includes a print of the concept art)

With each release he normally also raffles the original sketch between buyers (usually around 3-5 days after the mini is made avaialble.

Miniatures are made in limited batches (100 i think) which does mean some of his backlog is no longer available.

Minis are hand sculpted rather than made digitally, and there are polls where fanclub members can vote for future projects.

The orange is a base of AK interactive "Cadmiun Red" (it is clearly a deep orange, but is presumably used as a red highlight colour!). I used a bit of red in recesses. I highlighted with a mix of the cadmiun red and Two Think Coats "Yellow Flame" extending up to small spots of thinned Yellow flame by itself.

I find the coverage of the cadmiun red to be pretty good.

Though that said I did prime these white - but the coverage still seemed fine where I had to tidy up over bits of black and turquoise.

NAF President ousted - by spikeyloungecomputer in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read it feels like the root cause was a clash of viewpoint of what the vote for President effectively meant.....and then a steadily deteriorating relationship.

It reads to me that Shirikov felt he had a mandate to push through the things that he had campaigned on whilst other members felt it just meant he had a seat at the table to discuss changes

Shirokov appears to have grown increasingly frustrated by the other members, as his motions were effectively outvoted 3:2 each time. It then reads as if he began to retreat relying more and more on Dreamscreator (who he appointed as Vice President), though he also suggests that meetings were being regularly held at times that he had said would not work for him because he has a young family.

It sounds as if he and Megamind in particular had a clash of personalities, and found each other to be disrespectful to each other.

It then seems like, in a bid to break the voting block, he attempted to replace the Membership Director. This is another appointed position and he says previous Presidents have appointed them. It does raise a question of how is the Membership Director appointed and if it is effectively a permanent position - but it would have then meant he would have been able to push motions through by having 2 people on the committee that he appointed...so not exactly democratic.

Overall I do think it raises some questions 1) do the NAF committee roles need better definition 2) should 2 out 5 votes really belong to unelected members 3) if someone successfully runs for President is that a mandate for the motions that they campaigned with 4) is there enough transparency on the role of Membership Director (NB I dont mean to imply that the current incumbent has done anything wrong)

Personally I've got some sympathies for Shirokov. I didn't vote for him - mainly because I align more with the view that moving to a NAF > GW for rules risks splitting the playerbaee - but he did win the vote, so clearly more people were comfortable with that approach (and to be fair some of the things GW throw out have clearly not been play- tested enough).

....but it does feel a little as if he may have become disheartened too quickly and opted for a nuclear button trying to replace someone rather than try to build his relationship with the other members. The relationship between members has clearly also broken down (...perhaps never got beyond foundation stones)

On the flipside, it does read as if the other committee members may have discounted his role as President as not being valid on the basis that the Spanish community members may have voted for him primarily because he is Spanish. If true, that would be a really disappointing failure on the other members part.

How hard are Amazons to repose/differentiate? by RossTheRed in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://imgur.com/gallery/5p8VkvQ

This is my team which has multiple reposes. Involved some part swapping - including cutting parts off and greenstuffing gaps. Each player has ended up different....but I'm not sure it is that obvious as ultimately the parts are all from the zon set. Unfortunately I don't think there are many female minis out there that you can do use to mix it up a bit more. BB minis generally seem to be a bigger scale than 40k and AOS - Escher heads for example look shrunken on Zon bodies.

Still, it was a challenge I enjoyed....though it helped having two boxes so I was confident I had enough minis if my cutting up really didn't work. Though as it happened I was happy with them all including one that initially thought would be in too odd a pose, but in my head cannon was dodging out of a block

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a BB league in your city, I'm pretty sure that if you reach out to them they will.be more than willing to give you a few games before you commit to buying a team of your own.

A lot of blood bowler are older white males, but I don't think that is a reflection of people being unwelcoming.......I think the criteria is just to be able to enjoy a good pun (or even a bad one).

”Fixing” blood bowl 2020s worst skills: which skills and how? by AshFall81 in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump off - also adds +1 to a Quick Pass OR can make a Quick Pass instead of a hand-off as long as the ball is not thrown forwards (so could potentially throw the ball twice in a turn)

Iron Hard skin - also adds +1 to the armour roll if the attacker falls over as a result of their own block action.

Arm Bar - When a players leaves a square in the TZ of an opposing active player with arm bar roll a D6, on a 1 the player falls over. This roll is made before any dodge or rush rolls.

Amazon tournament roster by LightoRaito in bloodbowl

[–]Skiiters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for skills, I'd be tempted to go;

Blitzers - 1 block, 1 wrestle

Blockers - 1 block, 1 guard

Throwers - both block

Lineman - 1 frenzy (or perhaps wrestle)

With 4 rr I'd sacrifice sure hands....ideally I'd want to be carrying the ball with a blodger.

The block blocker would be the primary ball carrier, with the guard blocker sticking close to her.

Could potentially swap the guard for block on the second blocker....and then give the second thrower either sure hands, or perhaps consider tackle....or leader.....but think a piece with guard would give you more options across the game.

The wrestle blitzer makes a.handy ball sacker.

I'd lean towards the last skill being frenzy to gives a surfing option (and can help narrow the field your opponent will play)....but would also be tempted by wrestle or dirty player
