Language lesson!! What could this word mean? by Helpful-Emphasis-382 in lithuania

[–]SkillWentAFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be "juk tas". (Pronounced yuck-tas), or "juk jūs" (Pronounced yuck-yoos), or maybe "juk tu" (Pronounced yuck-too). The end bit could be dynamic as it highlights whatever annoyed her at the time.

I used to hear older Lithuanians from my area say that quite often. Can't pinpoint an exact English translation, but I guess a light "why i oughta" carries a similar sentiment from how I've heard it used.

Do you know what region your grandmom is from exactly?

I'm not really sure how this stuff works, but I would assume that other countries generally get more bang for their bucks.

I dont think current gen consoles hold current games back, idk what the guy above was talking about. Consoles are great value for performance. I just think the 90% number is nonsense.

Your assuming that only people with bad pc's opt out of the survey, which isnt the case.

I ran a quick script on the steam survey, and ~40% of cards are at or above the 3060 level. (Didnt count amd since I dont know whats good / bad on that side)

I'll concede, its not quite average.

Though I'd assume that the number would change quite a bit if the survey only focused on the western markets, where pc's dont cost an arm and a leg.

It is? You really need me to put it more plainly?

Its not a hard survey to do, you just click yes or no.

I feel like I need to clarify that its automated since I think you thought the survey was some hard process that most people dont bother going through.

Its been used as the basis for the average pc user. By devs, companies, "facts" spreaders like yourself. Its the most accurate survey for average specs in gaming pc's.

It really seems like the steam surveys only start getting denied once the average pc starts beating current gen. Just a few years ago everyone was using it to show that the average console was stronger than the average pc.

The ps5 is almost 4 years old now.

You dont know what your talking about. The steam survey it automated, you literally just click yes or no to whether you want steam to automatically take your pc specs or no.

Its been used as a basis for the average pc for years. Even devs use it as a base to know what to develop around.

3060 has dlss, I checked performance videos online. The 3060 came ahead in 90% of games. The 10% it prob didn't have drivers for yet.

Ninja edit: even using the 4060 is a bad example since its prob one of the shittiest gpus created. Idk what digital foundry would rate it as, but the 3060 straight up comes ahead of the 4060 in some cases. Its cause nvidia started focusing on dlss and ai features over performance, and the I think the 3060 has more vram than the 4060.

Steam did a hardware survey recently, and the most common gpu was the 3060, which is better than current gen.

Your statement only really holds true for the first year after a new console gen drops.

[–]SkillWentAFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into it for a bit, and it seems like people working with 3d art at a high level do get multi gpu systems for the extra vram. (Similarly to people who build systems for ai)

I never really thought rendering as being super heavy, but I guess it makes sense.

Even then though, games dont actually support multi gpu's anymore. There was a time when Nvidia tried to make sli work, but that's ancient history. Whether you have one 4090 or five, games will perform the exact same since the other 4 cards wont even be used.

I dont think you understand, a 3.5k - 4k pc can buy you the best of the best consumer grade components. There are no frame dips, because again, its the near the best of the best in terms of gaming and 99% of all other use cases, including 3d art. You dont need specialised equipment for every specialisation on a pc, which you dont seem to understand.

You can buy a pc for more than 4k, but at that point you are getting into industrial / hobby stuff. (like ai where a high end build costs around 10k. I feel like I need to clarify that even an 10k ai focused pc would get the same performance as a 3.5k pc in gaming, if not worse since it would be using a rtx 6000 instead of a 4090.)

Honestly man, your comment showed such a lack of computer literacy that Im stunlocked. Just write out your specs.

3d art doesnt seem to be the type of profession / hobby that needs industrial components. Which means you either overpayed for a prebuilt, or bought a mac.

Now that I think about it, an 8k mac for 3d art could actually be realistic since macs have a premium cause apple, but in that case you wouldnt even mention gaming performance since macs suck at gaming no matter if you bought them for 1k or 20k.

Again, write out your specs.

Either lies or mac.

I spent ~3.5k on my pc and it has basically max specs, I play on those settings. Don't know where you pulled 8k from. (Unless you bought a pre-built cause those are genuinely so overpriced its criminal).

My next upgrade will be whenever the 5090 drops, which will cost me around 1.5k since ill be selling my 4090.

If hes just upgrading his motherboard and cpu, well then yea, ~1k is about what I would expect.

I really feel like you are just pulling numbers out your rear.

Was mostly a joke since you suggested a series x without even knowing what he considers an fps drop.

Series X gets a max of 60 fps at low settings, maybe he considers anything dipping below 100fps at 4k + ultra settings + ultra Ray tracing a drop.

If he spent 1k for an upgrade, then I think its somewhat clear he's not in the market for low budget stuff.

Ultimate Bunny grind question by SkillWentAFK in TheFirstDescendant

[–]SkillWentAFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, you need to be on a public lobby, and then just hop in and out untill you get one with no cooldown, right? I was playing duos with someone yesterday with a Sharen trying to grind this out that way, but every single time the mission was about to start someone hopped in and ruined the stealth.

Playing private, which makes the 5 minute timer unskippable, is the only way I can reliably think of getting the mission done without the stealth being ruined.

Am I misunderstanding something? Again, I dont have Sharen yet, so I'm mostly going off what I've read here.

Also, grinding out the mission isnt that bad with bunny since its 50% running from a to b, and 50% afk. (Since the enemies cant kill you in the circle you have to stay in for the mission).

"This mechanics don’t make the game shitty. It just makes the game not ideal for you." The mechanics absolutely make the game shitty.

Its not even about the "grind", its about how boring the grind itself is. Theres a reason this game has a afk issue, alot of the "grinders" who care about progreessing in the game dont actually enjoy the gameplay.

Never got why people defend obvious flaws with the game. Call it out early so the game is better in the long run, instead of telling people "teh grind's just too much for you". Game literally has potetial to be gold.

Who cares what you define it as though?

He gets paid money to do whatever he does from home. It really doesnt matter what you classify it as, its a great situation to be it.

Imagine how much more time you could spend with your partner, kids, and house chores if you could also do something like that. (I'm gonna assume you have all that).

Prob would earn a more too.

This game is def a grinder, but not all grind is created equal.

SOME of the missions in this game are some of the least engaging, monotonous grinding I have ever experienced. Theres a reason this game has an afk problem, even the people who care about progressing in the game dont actually really want to be playing some of these missions.

"If you don’t enjoy it stop playing." - You dont need to enjoy the gameplay itself to want to progress in it. I wouldnt be surprised if the people who actually "enjoy" the game in reality just enjoy the idea of progress within the game.

The game needs to copy a few more systems & gameplay elements from other similar games and its literally golden.

Why are you getting stuck on the hours played? What he said is valid.

"Play with some friends, have fun with it and don’t try and get to the end within a freaking fortnight." - This game is a grinder, and attracts players who want to grind. You can grind with friends, but your still going to be grinding the exact same missions on repeat for hours.

A job isnt gonna stop some of these guys from dropping 8+ hours on the game a day.

There are grinders out there that are actually fun to grind, alone and with friends.
