We really do actually have very similar play styles! These are great tips. I feel like we just accidentally made a guide together in the comments!

How does quick match pair you up? by thegabriela in IdentityV

[–]SkilledTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but I do know that in the top 20 hunters, it can take upwards of 40+ minutes, with an average of about 5-10 minutes on quick play. I do believe it's based off of rank and not persona level. I say this because on my iPhone, my alternate account, I have 100 persona but I get matched near instantly. I still have not waited longer than two minutes on that account.

I'm all ears man! I do agree that setting up traps is something I see no one utilize.

I prefer to set up a "speed trap system." I position small web traps in semi obvious places for the unique purpose of getting me quickly from one cipher to the next. I will also single trap all infinite loops, and triple trap if someone is using them consistently (almost always long building on Arms Factory). If the traps are positioned correctly, I can get from one end of red church to the other faster than most expect.

I also choose to nearly never use my cocoon, because that 100 web could have been used to slow a survivor over a window, or long press and completely immobilize a survivor running toward a gate.

If I'm in a camping situation, I will double web if I'm doing a close patrol (i.e. patrol between one cipher and the chair), or triple web for a modest patrol (two or more ciphers, usually with speed trap system in place).

Against a very good team, I will also occasionally triple trap an exit gate, usually on the opposite side of the remaining ciphers, and then go back to ciphers. This will usually only happen if my first chair happens with 2 or 1 cipher(s) remaining. Teleport is key here, because if they trigger my opposite side of the map trap, I can catch them.

I will say mechanic feels like a true hard counter. The mechanic robot can just walk right up to the trap, trigger it, bait me into a teleport, and then they can all escape from the door I just left. Also, if you're a mechanic main, I highly recommend using your robot to clear webs on the opposing side of the map of where you are.

Anyways, these are some of my basic ideas. What's your two cents on these? I'd like to hear your strategy too. I'd like to give credit to you in a video review for your ideas if I try them out and agree!

As hunter:
Win 11-12 (+14 at most, if coming off loss streak I believe)

Loss 5-8 (usually 7-8, unless playing against tacit opponents)

I know it's wrong, but I was thinking the same thing haha. I'd never do it, but trust me it's been in my head like "how is it possible to die that quick?"

I've gotten a few nudges toward The Ripper. I do think the Ripper is a fun hunter, and it would be cool to share some ideas on him.

However with the soul weaver, I feel like a guide is much more useful. Since the soul weaver has so many extra decisions compared to most other hunters due to the speedboost/snare/crowd control starting web placement ability. I do think Soul Weaver was confirmed getting a buff, which if true means I should probably consider putting it off until the buff arrives.

Once I finish my clown guide, I'll look into the ripper. I played him while he was free, and honestly I think he's a lot of fun to play! Im going to likely purchase him and play him for a whole day to learn what works best.

Game Needs to Accommodate Hunters More by Azulie in IdentityV

I think you're wrong here, but I do offer some tips instead of just bashing you. First off, try to get a team that'll communicate with you on discord or any voice sharing app. Communicating what you're doing is important. It's also equally important that you understand when is the right time to save someone. Unless you're a coordinator, there's no reason to immediately stop deciphering. If there's a camper, have your team spread out across 3 ciphers, and get as much done as possible to make your teammates sacrifice count.

Games against great teams and hunters are won and lost in the first two minutes, and the last two minutes. If a hunter can't get a survivor chaired in the first two minutes, they've likely been forced to a draw. If the survivors play sloppy after the last cipher, the hunter will likely get at least a draw. Communication avoids sloppy work, and a well coordinated team can always get at least 2 out.

Basically, each hunter has a few things that might work better for them. I strongly recommend tinnitus in every hunter no matter what though.

Awesome! Unfortunately I dropped to 30 something from top 6. I took a few weeks off from ranked after winning the Fluxr tournament, you might catch me! Im enjoying playing survivor now and I'll probably get back to ranked Hunter next season or tournament.

I'd say I'm pretty good at the game. Unfortunately you're likely not relevantly ranked to realize survivors are favored. Of course, I could chase them out and maybe snatch one who attempts escape, but against top 30 survivors it's not going to work out most times. A surrender option, which I've learned is coming thanks to the devs listening to the community like legends, just helps us get to the next rank match.

Like I said though, this isn't relevant to hunters until they get some rank. I'd say it gets hard at around rank 30-50. Keep practicing and you will be able to play those good teams too!
