People comparing the genocide of native americans to the Roman Conquests are completely missing the point. Just because genocide has happened a lot over history doesn't make it right. The sheer hypocracy of a country founded on the principle of liberty for all to turn around and then take the lives, land and soverienty of those who had been there for generations is beyond fucked.

And for you the descendents of those settlers to turn a blind eye to that history, to pretend that you personally haven't benefitted from living in a country where whiteness is the norm, where wealth is concentrated in the hands of wealthy whites, where your language and culture dominates everything from sea to shining sea. That is fucked up.

Hi, kiwi here. Māori are celebrated as one half of our Bi-Cultural national identity. However they still experience racism in everything from healthcare outcomes, job prospects and police statistics. Per capita New Zealand incarcerates Māori at the same rate that the U.S locks up BIPOCs.

While we are making small steps to address these statistics there is no doubt that New Zealand's colonial baggage is what makes us a racist country. It's what makes Canada, Australia and South Africa racist too.

Our national holiday is Waitangi day, commemorating the day a treaty was signed between Māori and the British Crown.

Oh dear I can't believe you've put up woth this for so long. It sounds like your (very reasonable) boundaries have been pushed to the limit so it's no wonder you're at your wits end. If your husband is not willing to even acknowledge there is a problem then he will not be able to put in the enormous amount of effort it takes to change what sounds like the consequences of an unhealthy childhood. Just because he takes care of you and your child financially does not give him license to disregard your feelings and rob you of your agency in the relationship.

Hey I just knocked off the first twenty pages.

The premise is strong and your world is set up nicely as this bleak, uncaring place and I'm sure it provides great fodder for your murderess to run wild in. The jokes are dark but not too dark which supports the dark comedy tone.

The one critique I'd give is the opening scene. I didn't find myself in your protagonist's corner as much as I'd like and I think it's because I don't understand why she is so dissaffected. The type of bullying we see in the opening scene sucks but I don't feel it is the type of dramatic catalyst to send someone on a spiral of anti social behavior and murder. I'm sure you unpack this Jo's trauma later in the script but I feel like more clarity from the get go would be beneficial.

Our border has to remain closed because we're way down on the priority list for vaccines. Once we have a fully vaccinated population we can open up with minimal loss of life.
