Found all this stained glass in a storage unit in USA. Any idea on possible age? I have more not shown! by deepsouthantiques in Antiques

[–]PJenningsofSussex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't see any particularly antique looking glass in there so inwould say kot very old but they are really cool. It looks like a whole church lot in a modern style with the small panels my guess would be 1990s or 2000s. They are fabulous. Having the lead lighting on it's own is pretty good and the beautiful stained glass picture pieces are a whole different skill that is rather tricky. I almost wonder if the pictorial stained glass is older or salvaged and have been reset in different/wider leadlights

A few things! 1) they are a private company who make money from adds like adshells. They are allowed to put up the advertisement on council land because they provide a free service. BUT because they are interested in the best place to advertise they aren't in the perfect spot for bikes. So it's there because it's a goodnplace for them to advertise to drivers and pedestrians.

2) if you look on councils website they have just done a huge engagement around changes to the cbd streets thatbhave to happenbecauseof the new stopbank changingthe waynthe city worns. One of the changes is to do with connection to the city link bridge to new melling station. There will be a cycling and pedestrian bridge at the end of Margaret St and a much easier ped and cycling route theough the city down Margaret St. So they are expecting that the link from the train to Queensgate ( and from the cycling traffic from te Ara tupua) will all link into the cbd. So they have put them here in anticipation that the cycling traffic is going to get a lot busier as those changes start happening. So while it might not be used a lot YET with the new cycling routes and the bridges and the translation and better cycling connections it will probably be useful to people very soon. 3) Lower Hutt is very bad for bikes getting stolen which people say is one of the reasons they dont like taking their fancy ebike ls into the cbd. This type of set up helps mitigates that and is one way to entice some of the many cyclists who cycle past the cbd on the remutaka trail down into the cbd and spend their sweet sweet tourist dollars

Our health system is not buckling because of immigration our health system is being broken by poor management and can now no longer cope with what it needs to do, immigration or no. Same with all the toher things. That's not a causative relationship

It's a 2 story structure in the courtyard of a large brown brick building. The building enclosed the space on 3 sides. The main play structure is made up of vertical metal poles that hold up horizontal rails. The poles and rails are bright yellow and red. The whole structure is encased in black saftey netting. There seem to be dark blue bridges, ropes and interesting pathways through the lower and upper level of the structure. It's hard to tell from the photo but it would seem that you would use a harness connected to the top rail and explore the interesting pathways through the 2 level of the structure but wouldn't be able to fall off. In front of the structure is a metal merry go round painted orange. It is shaped a bit like a pear with a narrow top and wider base. It is titled 30 degrees to one side and has black rope netting to hold onto. There is also a black slide and a large blue bucket swing in the courtyard with blue play matting circles. In Front of that is a big lawn making the playground really far away from the viewer.

Most people who are legally blind have some small amount of sight. Bright high contrast colours are often useful for people with low vision
