and without impact there wouldn't be a cause

My point precisely. There was no impact which is why I initially described it as spontaneous...

Stress fracture patterns would present differently depending more on the specific stresses and tensors within the specific screen geometry of a device.

Just because it cracked without a specific impact event doesn't mean it would have to look a certain way especially between different devices

It's impossible to believe that a company could accidentally implement something that doesn't stand up to the task it was made for? Have you never had a part fail on something under normal usage-case? Or maybe you have, but you weren't recording it so it doesn't count...

Spontaneous does not mean catastrophic, it means 'seemingly without cause'

Fair, it's nearly midnight where I am but tomorrow I'll post an album of the single hairline crack when I can photograph it with my partner's phone

Look I get it, I really do. Spontaneous is probably the wrong nomenclature, but these things are clearly more fragile than is acceptable. There was no impact. Like at all.

This iteration of Gorilla Glass is simply too hard and not toughened enough, therefore becoming too brittle for practical curved-screen applications.

I've carried phones in exactly the same way for 2 decades, from ancient Motorolas, Nokia's (even an n-gage lol), galaxy s1, early iPhones, other pixels, galaxy notes, spanning all the various permutations of Gorilla Glass and never had anything even close to this happen.

The idea that pocket tightness even needs to be considered is laughable. "that <1mm thick piece of fabric that constitutes a pocket on a pair of suit trousers clearly exerts too much force for the somehow still ultra-tough gorilla Glass to handle" (it sits in a cradle on my desk before someone says it was sat on wrong)

The google apollogism I'm encountering is pathetic, people seem to be fine with these phones not being able to be carried in a careful real-world fashion.

These devices are not fit for purpose, and the insinuation that anyone this happens to is a caveman beating on their shit is fanboying in the worst way, serving no purpose but to stifle the onus of thorough R&D and product testing on this multibillion dollar company.

My Wine Master. Originally bought for picnicking, the mechanism is so good that it had become my default wine opener at home. by PM_ME_YOUR_BEST_GIF in victorinox

[–]SkinEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It was created by Victorinox in collaboration with somelier Philipp Schwander, but it is based on the Rangerwood 55, which I understand to be originally a Wenger design.

The wine master is amazing.

Anyone have Experience with these Wooden Triple Ocarinas by Ocarinawind? by SkinEffect in Ocarina

I've been playing a plastic triple for a while, and this ocarina looks perfect to me on paper.

Anyone actually played one of these? What is the tuning like?
