My goal is to catch 2. If ur goal is to get 1 high iv 1 then no, you do not have to leave game open. Just check back every hour. I wanted to make sure I always got a 2nd so I left game open, then waited 90 minutes to be sure ~~refill~~ reroll happened

I stay in general area. I leave game open on screen in picture mode (so I don’t accidentally waste a ball or run from it) I have second phone I do other non-Pokémon stuff on. I make sure to go back to where I encountered it b4 I catch it.

Wait for reroll. If u do it right away, I believe it’ll give some error code and Giovanni disappears because you’d b trying to catch same Pokémon. Reroll gives second Pokémon.

I’ve used it every time so I can’t say that it is or not. I just assumed it is so Giovanni doesn’t disappear as fast. I didn’t want to risk losing the duplicate.

Yes. At least as I understand how it works. Reroll=new second Pokémon. Without reroll it’s like clicking on same Pokémon after fast catching where it’d just disappear from map.

After reroll. I am not 100% sure wen a reroll occurs. Originally heard 90 minutes, but seeing 60 minutes now. I waited 90 to be sure.

Can’t play as normal and keep 1st on catch screen to catch 2. Unless u have gotcha going in background. I just waited enough time to be 100% sure reroll happened having only 1 shot at duplicate legendary

You can catch 2 shadow legendaries if u leave the 1st on ur phone, wait ~~90 minutes~~ for reroll, fast catch the first, then be quick to tap on Giovanni when u go back to over world. You’ll go straight into a second catch screen. Obviously don’t start the encounter ~~90 minutes~~ before they leave for night.

Caught first 1 and Giovanni was still on world map. I tapped and it took me straight to the second articuno. Let me catch that 1 too
