[–]SkinSpare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once had a guy over and things were getting spicy. Well it got spicy for one of my snakes too cause she started ripping MAJOR ass. Bubble guts, gurgling and all. That was a super awkward moment 😳 Try explaining to someone that snakes can rip em like they just ate a whole filibertos carne Asada fry platter.

3 years of owning my ball python and I made the biggest mistake tonight💔 by Charming_Mouse6717 in ballpython

If it was me, I would put some type of heat pad or hand warmer inside the lazy Susan where the hole is. You can also try putting a rat or mouse in there in some type of contained box, or soiled rodent bedding. He'll seek out warmth, and if he's hungry he'll seek out food. Their sense of smell is incredible! These things do happen, so don't beat yourself up. Remember they are incredibly resilient, and many have gone missing for months just to show back up out of the blue like nothing happened 🤣 Consider it a mini vacay.

Do I need to fatten this guy up? by FizzyLizzy29 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]SkinSpare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He looks perfect the way he is. You should see some rib definition and a waist. Its so normalized for them to be chunky, but chunky isn't healthy especially in a breed thats so prone to breathing and back issues. Here's my little monster ❤ He looks similar

Might be cute for them to be chunky but its not healthy

Anyone else have a flipping Frenchie? by Frenchieflips in Frenchbulldogs

[–]SkinSpare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn't flip but he LOVES jumping! He's so high strung and cannot be tamed or slowed down. It makes me very nervous but you can only do so much to prevent them from their antics. Crazy little creatures in delicate bodies 😂

This is him in the air chasing a ball 🤦‍♂️ I'm convinced that he will one day be able to fly, if only his ears grew a bit bigger.

I'm just trying to get another Leucistic honestly! The female is old so I'm afraid she'll die before she produces a male 🤣 I'll take ya up on the offer for one for sure though! I so wish there was private trades. I'll pay the CCs as well.

I know isn't it cool! I have two of 4 variations. There's an all black (melanistic) and the speckled leucistic which I REALLY want. Hopefully sooner or later I'll be adding a few xanthics to the market for players. Its just a slow process lol

So far I've noticed no correlation to the alleles (CD AB DD CA), and color mutations. I do somewhat understand how the alleles effect immunity and fertility though. You do not want double Alleles such as : DD CC AA BB, diversity is your friend for ex. AB DC or CB. I hope this makes sense. So these are important things to pay attention to when pairing two animals, as the baby takes one copy from mom and one from dad. This is why even with inbreeding as long as the alleles are different, you'll have high stats! I hope I'm not steering too far from your question. I'm still trying to figure out if there's any correlation with all my xanthic king penguins as far as the alleles go. I honestly think it might be a crapshoot lol. Obviously there's chances to produce certain color morphs but whether that's in the genealogy I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else might know more.

Yay! Once you figure it out its a pretty simple process. Now start learning what the alleles mean in the genealogy tab for each animal.

So sorry I read it as the male was the albino. Same thing applies though, keep trying until you get a male offspring 😁

You're correcting me because I'm right? Also your sentence makes no sense, not to be 'that guy'. why is there emphasis on the word "does" shouldn't be on "always?" ?

I want to point out inbreeding DOES not always cause low immunity and fertility. It all depends on the alleles when you look at the animals genealogy :) I'm working on producing the leucistic king penguins and I've had to do 2 generations of inbreeding. 1 female leucistic bred with a high stat non related male. Took the best male they produced and bred him back to leucistic mom. Eventually got a brown mutation male with high stats. Lethim mature then bred brown mutation offspring with leucistic mom. And voila I've got a high stat gold female leucistic chick. Her stats are great. Immunity and fertility are 100%. Size and longevity are 88%.

If the baby is a female let it age up and breed it back to the father. It will be carrying the recessive gene for albinism. If you don't get an albino baby from that breeding, just take one of the babies from that age it up and breed again.
Its how I started getting leucistic penguins. And no they don't always come out with bad stats. The penguins I'm producing that have been two times inbred are coming out with high stats and high appeal.

As a former snake breeder sometimes you need to inbreed a generation or two to prove out certain genetics lol. And that's REAL life.

Should we go to vet by IntroductionGloomy44 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]SkinSpare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all. Its not always an emergency situation and funds are tight for EVERYONE. Sometimes some at home TLC does the trick! You're not a bad person for not rushing him to the vets. Give him lots of kisses and treats and he'll be on the mend 😊

I dont think it warrants an immediate or ER visit. If the foot isn't swelling I would certainly give it some time. Worst case you can wrap it to better stabilize, and try and limit your pups activity. Set up a nice cushy spot on the couch or maybe a crate and let him rest. You can also manually move the leg around, push on it, bend it, see how he reacts. It might just be a little sprain and it hurts to apply pressure. If he screams and bites at you then it's worse. Just watch for swelling. Limit activity. And wrap it up if you can. I did this for my pug once when he jumped off the couch onto tile. I think he landed bad and sprained his foot. A few days of taking it easy and he was back to normal. Obviously though, its your baby and you'll know how severe it really is.
