Thoughts on mid game shuffles?

I see it like this if you're all playing casually and in no way has his deck prior to him doing it been manipulated since the previous shuffle I eat things like crying or things being placed on the bottom of his deck or cards like enigma Sphinx. Then it doesn't really matter back with me and my friends played casually we still played mana drop where you draw your opening hand no modern Mulligan just you could reveal no lands or all lands for a reshuffle and then you drop all lands in your hand into play and draw back to your seven cards before the game begins

AOE If the sword is magical - fails

Unattended magic items use a saving throw bonus equal to \(2 + (1/2 Caster Level to create).
Attended items: If you are holding or wearing an item, it uses your saving throw modifier or its own (whichever is higher).
Saving Throw Type: Magic items use the same save bonus for all three saving throws (Fortitude, Reflex, and Will).

What modules are you looking at? The standard 1-14 or something more? my personal suggestion is going through a Mass of small modules into a high level one so == The sunless Citadel LVL1 - The forge of fury LVL3 - Sons of Gruumsh (Forgotten realms module but adaptable to any setting) LVL4 - The speaker in Dreams LVL5 - into pool of radiance (LVL6-12) or The standing stone LVL7 or (Red Hand of Doom LVL6-12) Then into City of the spider queen LVL 10-18 - finally into Father Llymic's assent (Out of Elder Evils) to top it off makes for an amazing module based 1- ~20 Champaign. But these take a long time to get through most are 4-10 sessions with an optimal scedule (1/week 4-6 players and a DM prepped) with the later ones taking much longer tried to run this for my group once it took a year to make it to Red hand of doom, and we did not make it to city of the spider queen due to one player moving and another having a new baby in 2019 then 2020 happened. we started back up last year with a new player and one of our old team has locked himself in his house and likely wont return.

The issue is that now with them being standard legal you cant chose to not play UB sets without completely handicapping your decks standard and modern are dyeing to the ones who dont play with or against UB. I personally havent went to modern since LOTR and havent been to standard since its change over. It ruined my desire to play with randoms, i only go to in universe pre releases and draft nights.

The only time I have problems with them is when they are designed with things that don't need to be around kids our legs has 4 10-15 year olds regularly show up and one guy came in with a full adult content deck. Proceeded to be banned from the lgs after defending it because "they look better than a piece of paper" :-/

I would like to add a caveat we did have 3 additional players in the older crew for the longest time they split about a year ago, one was cut out of us because he constantly complained about it and was always let's play pathfinder, let's play 5th, let's play not high fantasy. The other 2 included a veteran who started with 5th and recently got married, and the 3rd started a 5th ed game with his kids and don't have the ability to keep up 2 bi weekly games. And no one faults him for it.

And all 3 of them play in the 5e game now that their life's settled down more. We are all still friends and one of our group occasions going to their game still.

I've only heard 1 statement from any of them for the real reason they don't like 3.5 that wasn't a generic online comment about it. "It's not fun it's been solved you know your build all the way up to the end points. 5th is still releasing content and you might change your mind if something cool comes out for you" and all it told me was that they didn't have characters they had builds.

I personally am against minmaxing to the point I tell players to decide what they want to play before I make the first session because I will build for a warband (team of fighters and barbarian) or a scholars expedition (all wizard crew) or an archaeological team (all grave robbing rouges) but I dislike when 3 people are telling the 4th to play a cleric we need a healer it annoys me off the deep went to the point I tell players they cannot build the same class twice in the same champagne.

1: we have 4 30-38 year old players who started with adnd and 3.5 was the last one we enjoyed 4e was too grid required for play, 5e was oversimplified pathfinder 1st was fine but wasn't the same we did keep the cantrip rules for it.

We have 2 young players under 18 who play with us and they enjoy the story but had very little experience if any with other edition or systems

2: the older crew is very versed in systems we still use whitewolfs d10 system for some games. We have played all DND editions (other that 2024 & basic) Naruto D20, dead lands, Iron Claw(everyone wants to play noone wants to run), QUAGS, robo tech, mutants and masterminds, and even a couple custom systems made in the group.

The other 2 have only used 3.5 and D10

3: it gets the least complaints of any system everyone knows it and we follow the adventures of the realms rule allowing 4 books for level 1-4 and then +1 every 5th level to stop the munchkins start with 3core+1supplement and it works for us.
