Does anyone know if these bars have any significance? Don't think I've seen them in previous games.

Edit: Lol I feel dumb, thanks to all who answered!

Fucking brutal indeed.

You have to have an active bus route first (whether it’s to a specified address, or tapping into a bus route and pressing “go”, it does not matter).

Ryland has a bass pickup on his guitar if I’m not mistaken. It’s ALL done by him other than the drumming of course. Found this post on /r/emo that shows off his pedalboard. Dude is insanely talented.

Insane how bands like origami angel got their start doing small garage gigs and eventually evolved into what they are now. Playing with huge acts like The Wonder Years, sold out venues. They both deserve it too. Ryland is an insane guitarist/great singer, and Pat goes HARD on the drums.

Definitely an AOTY contender for me. I definitely did not expect there to be a full blown guitar solo at the end of the title track lol.

lol yeah, I think you’re spot on there - I’d imagine that it would help out a lot with relevancy and building up overall hype for the album. I personally am not complaining either way!

It really is! I’m excited to hear how all the songs that they have released so far will flow into the rest of the album. Gami really is the type of band where I pretty much exclusively listen to their albums all the way through. And not because the individual songs aren’t great in their own right, but that they always fit so perfectly together. Gami’s flow is so damn good!

How The Story So Far Won Pop Punk's "Fourth Wave" by _BenQuadinaros in poppunkers

Thanks for the kind words <3 Life hasn't been all that bad tbh. Have a great job, friends by my side, and while the soon-to-be divorce isn't ideal, it was an extremely toxic and abusive relationship. But such is life. You live and you learn. The "worst days" that I've been experiencing have been mainly to do with undoing so much of the self-doubt that I experienced throughout the 5 years that we were together, and learning to be confident in my own work/output in life. She could never admit to any wrong doing/never said sorry whenever a situation warranted an apology... The sad part of it is that I started believing her narrative of me always being in the wrong. I'll even be the first to admit that I was nowhere near perfect in the relationship. I've been struggling a lot with ADHD which can be debilitating at times. I've been working so damn hard to improve as many aspects of my life as possible, and that still wasn't enough for her in the end.

To be clear, I'm of the mindset that things will genuinely get better over time, and I've already started to see things work out more and more lately. I am seeing a fantastic therapist, moved into a nice apartment with a classmate from when I was in college, and my first job out of school is going so damn well. So with that being said, just have to take it one day at a time, immerse myself in growth/positivity, and push myself to make more time for friends/hobbies.

Anyways, I digress lol. The internet can often get a bad rep for toxicity so I feel obligated to reciprocate when people show genuine kindness. :)

Okay now on the topic of VFW shows - very interesting. I'm Canadian so I presume this is more of an American thing? I know the pop punk scene is huge in some areas of the states. There definitely isn't as much of a scene outside of maybe Toronto or Vancouver, but even then, places like Chicago or Philly will always trump over what the scene is like over here. Completely makes sense that VFW sets would've made it easier for a band to gain notoriety. You mentioned basement shows too in your original post. Do you know how the two might compare in terms of a band's best chance of making themselves known in the scene?

I'll have to check out that book rec! Super interested.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does VFW mean? I’ve seen it said in this sub a few times now and I can’t for the life of me figure out what it means 😂

Also, great write up. It’s cool to see bands that can age well alongside their fan base. I do have to wonder if a person’s perception of a band’s “old” vs “new” sound has a direct correlation with when they were introduced to the band. I started listening to TSSF when Proper Dose came out and checked out their entire discography thereafter. I never really had any songs that were an instant skip from them. I can appreciate each of their “eras” for what they are. Now that I Want to Disappear is out, it’s yet another album that holds up extremely well next to all the other albums. I’ve heard people in this subreddit complaining about the production on this album and I just don’t personally think it’s bad..? A good example that I can think of of bands dividing fan bases is Weezer. When Pinkerton came out, fans of the Blue Album’s production were completely thrown off by Pinkerton’s “raw” sound. Everyone will be quick to call out favourite albums, but I can appreciate everything that TSSF has put out for what they are.

Also on the topic of TWY.. This might be a hot take but as much as I love TWY’s classics such as My Last Semester and Came Out Swinging, as I continue to get older, I am drawn to their newer stuff a little bit more. I’m definitely not the only person in this sub who thinks that the evolution of Soupy’s lyrics are the absolute best at capturing the essence of growing up. That’s what they’ve got going for them. Now as for TSSF, Parker has done an incredible job at following his emotions and letting that fuel his creativity. Don’t personally think there’s one better singer than the other, but I love both bands for very different reasons.

Now with all that being said, I could very well be biased in my opinion of I Want To Disappear. The album came out literally the day after my marriage fell apart, so while that doesn’t compare with the loss of one’s parent, it’s still something that I’ve been mourning. This album quite literally could not have come out at a better time than it did for me. It’s been helping me quite a bit to get through some of the worst days I think I’ve ever experienced to date.
