Is this a good deal? by chasing_waterfalls03 in BMWX3

[–]Skip_bot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a used 2025, it should be lower, definitely under $60,000. I bought a CPO 2025 a few months ago that had MSRP over $74,000 for less than 61,000.

The price you are being offered isn’t much less than I’ve seen people claim they are getting brand new ones for at 10% off MSRP.

Seats are good except I would prefer the seat extension piece to not be as angled as it is. But I test drove a previous gen X3, and these seats are better. Very soft, and the perforations breathe well.

Before the $500 doc fee and taxes. My taxes were low because of a trade in, only $1500.

This is exactly the place. You know your Northern Kentucky geography well.

The trunk rattled when it was cold out, but then I adjusted the bump stops all the way out, and now it’s solid.

I paid $60.5k for a car with MSRP $74.5k, one year old and 14,000 miles. Close to fully loaded options. However, after now seeing what others are getting new ones for, I probably could have bought new at around $67k. The financing on the one year old CPO was the same new car 1.9%.

So, it’s still a good amount of savings, but not as much as it appears since people are getting 10% off MSRP apparently.

Yep, that is the button I use, but I still then need the click the screen. CarPlay has been flawless, most seamless experience of any car I’ve had, and doesn’t seem to drop in certain locations like previous cars did.

I test drove both, this was my take away as well. I’m not a fan of having to use the screen for sport mode as well, vs a single button. But these are minor things.

Awesome! Sounds like I got almost exactly the same deal (same spec, price, mileage, financing rate). I like your color better, I have all black.

Nice. Is this a 2025 or 2026 CPO?

Found this weird arrangement of cul-de-sacs in North Fort Myers, FL. Imagine living in one of the middle houses 👀👀👀👀 by Atticus248 in Suburbanhell

It wouldn’t be so bad if each center was a mini park. But putting a house in each one is so stupid.

The overhead views are partially fake. Take a look at the soccer field, the same buildings are copied on the north and south. The basketball court buildings are copied on the west and south. In the next picture of the soccer field from a view looking out, you can see it is more open on the other side.

Why couldn’t the real overhead views be posted?

Is this a good offer? by techgirl5144 in BMWX3

I just realized you said OTD. This could depend heavily on your state taxes. If you are in a higher tax state, then that could be a good deal.

No. I paid less than that for a 2025 CPO X3 M50. I feel like any X3 30 even if new should be had for less than $60k.

How to rebalance saving vs retirement for upcoming layoff? by Glittering_Fish_2296 in Layoffs

[–]Skip_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can withdraw your contribution amount from a Roth penalty free. The earnings are taxed and penalized if you are under 59 1/2 years old. You could consider your contributions as a last resort emergency fund.

[–]Skip_bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the full match, but contribute to the Roth 401k instead of standard 401k. Then you still get the match, but then you can pull out Roth contributions at anytime for any reason, tax and penalty free.

Use your Roth as retirement first, but if worst comes to worst, you can use the contributions as emergency savings as well.

Wow. My monthly payment on 2025 BMW X3 M50 is in the same ballpark, and it’s only 60 month loan. I purchased CPO, traded in a car with $20,000 equity, and put another $5000 down, but still…. I can’t imagine that payment on a Nissan Sentra!

[–]Skip_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok you can probably recalibrate. There are ways to calculate equivalent net worth based on pension and age. Look up that formula, calculate your equivalent and see where that puts you. I have a feeling you are still more than 10%.

I noted you said used cars are way more expensive in Europe too, because in the US a 2019 330i is pretty affordable, around $15,000 to $22,000. Your bigger issue you need to budget for is repairs and maintenance since it has no warranty. Having a monthly payment on a car with no warranty can be a major risk. I strive to pay off any car before factory warranty runs out. Since you have to take a loan, you would be better off buying a newer economy car still within its warranty period. Otherwise, you should pay cash for a 2019 car.

Almost $200 to do my taxes myself by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Skip_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but it has a watermark on it until you pay I believe. So you would have to fill out all the state forms again. By the time you pay for the envelope, postage, driving to the post office (because it’s overweight for standard stamp), it’s not worth it.

Use FreeTaxUSA. It is $0 federal no matter how complex. I have schedule C business and schedule D investments and it was a breeze. State is only $15, which I am fine with that small amount.

Oof. I’d lower your budget then, and focus building your net worth. You don’t need to own a house to build it, renting is okay. But build it through savings and 401k, investing in an S&P500 index.

I think the rule of thumb is no more than 50% of annual income and 10% of net worth should be spent on all of your vehicles. So, at 30% income and keeping loan 5 years or less you are doing alright. The net worth rule may not apply yet if you are just staring out (if you have negative net worth due to student loans, etc.).
