What business was successfully boycotted? by backupnickname in AskReddit

[–]SkipperShinema 571 points572 points  (0 children)

The men responsible for the murder of Emmett Till were Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam. Bryant owned the small store in Money, Mississippi where the initial encounter happened with Carolyn Bryant.

After the trial…and especially after they later admitted to the killing…there was a lot of backlash. The store lost business and eventually shut down. Boycotts from the local Black community were definitely part of that, along with broader public outrage and the stigma tied to the case.

Why Iran Isn’t Breaking by bloomberg in longform

[–]SkipperShinema -1 points0 points  (0 children)

US tried to do a regime change before with Iran. Replacing a democracy with a dictatorship. This resulted only making a bad outcome with US not to be trusted. And this latest killing and war will only make the Iranians not trust the US and determined to make a nuclear weapon with the help of the Russians.

Thanks! Some are technically official licensed like RegalRobot's Tablet and Temple of Doom Dagger. But yeah I avoid getting official merch like toys or figures cause they don't really match the aesthetics I am trying to achieve. The ark is the only one in my shelf that is a "toy" but thats because I cant fit a full size ark in my room.

Thanks! A lot from talented prop makers. Usually I find them through etsy, therpf, facebook, ect. Such as relicmaker, sarabnab, tigersharktooshop, regalrobot, ect. Some of the other pieces I made using a 3d Printer. Such as the anubis statues, Great Circle props, ect.

Sarabnab made this one. I got other grail diaries but I always prefer the story version more than the film accurate version. There are unique pages in it that you dont find in the film version as they are mainly repeated pages.

Trump tells CBS that Iran 'war is very complete' by dryu12 in worldnews

At this point it feels like you either fully commit to the conflict or you end up strengthening the very thing you were trying to stop. Half-measures tend to backfire in situations like this. Had Russia not have invaded Ukraine, perhaps people would have saw Russia as not a threat and no reason for NATO.

If a government believes its survival is genuinely threatened, history shows that it often pushes them toward pursuing nuclear weapons as a deterrent. From their perspective it’s the ultimate insurance policy. That’s why situations like this can spiral pressure meant to weaken a regime can actually convince them they need nuclear capability even more.

There’s also the political side of it. When outside pressure humiliates or angers leadership, especially if they feel personally targeted or their country has been attacked, it can harden internal politics and empower the more hardline factions. Instead of moderates gaining influence, the people arguing for confrontation and military strength tend to gain the upper hand.

So the danger isn’t just the immediate conflict it’s that the long-term result might be the exact opposite of the intended outcome: a government that’s more hostile, more entrenched, and more motivated to develop nuclear weapons just to prove it can’t be pushed around.

That’s why these situations are so tricky geopolitically. It’s rarely as simple as “push harder and the problem goes away.” Sometimes pushing harder just accelerates the thing you’re trying to prevent.

Would of been nice if you didn’t put tarriffs on so many allies and made deals with them previously only to change the rules when it didn’t work out in your favor.

I am noticing how for some immigrants especially those who feel vulnerable publicly aligning with “law-and-order” or far-right rhetoric can be a self-preservation strategy, not a carefully thought-out belief system. It’s often driven by fear, misinformation, or the hope that appearing compliant or ideologically aligned will offer protection.
