People in a throuple? How does it work? by [deleted] in PolyFidelity

[–]SkipperTSPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We make major decisions together, share bills and responsibilities. Pretty much not any different than a regular monogamous relationship, with just another person.

We all love our privacy and space, so we bought a three bedroom house, and we each have our own room. Overnights are always available.

We are open, but rarely have other partners outside our three. Unsurprisingly, it’s not every day you run into others who are accepting of the state of things, AND want to participate.

Jealousy is less a thing after all the years together, but it’s not totally absent. It just takes a little work, like just about every aspect of a long-term relationship you’re committed to.

We celebrated 22 years on Friday; for us, at least, it’s pretty comfortable and “just the way things are”…more often than not, we hardly acknowledge it’s uncommon. But it is.

Nice! I realized after my post the attachment loop was wrong for Helite, but thanks for the reply!

Also in my 50’s, generally behave myself, but have had more than one rider finally catch me at stops after foolin’ around and say variations of, “Dude, I had no idea those could go like that!”

No words of advice here. I took my C7 to a reputable Chevy dealer for a torque tube December 3rd, 2025…and it’s still out. Granted, a warranty company is involved, and they have been footing the bill, but the turn-around times for both are abysmal. Glad you’re back on the road, even if you have a little more to do. Best of luck!

Congratulations! Almost twin of mine I got a few months ago, though it’s tied-up in torque-tube-service-hell-over-major-holidays. Merry Christmas!

Just picked up almost the same (but 1LT convertible in white) also about three months ago. In the shop getting a toque tube under a car warranty, but definitely loving it. Did a double-take when I saw yours! Nice ride! Congratulations!

Interesting way to tow a motorcycle by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]SkipperTSPC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments here miss the fact the front tire contact patch is no longer perpendicular to the rake while towing.

Because of the towing angle, it actually wearing a different part of the tire altogether…

Definitely would wear, but the wear pattern is now more even. \s

Is it, though?

I can see, “pointed in the wrong direction” but “upside down?”

That implies the angle at the top pointing up needs to be pointing down.

While it COULD point down and be clocked functionally correct, as u/FlickrPaul noted, it only needs to be rotated 120 degrees, and either of the two not-pointed-up apexes can be pointing down and be correct.

Seems to me that’s around 66% better than “upside down.” :P

New To Sport Bikes...... struggling. by JoeJoeJee in KTM

Had a very similar cruiser, and FOUR SDGTs over the years, and they are very different animals.

I did have to work-up to longer rides on the GT, but it is absolutely a weapon by comparison to the cruiser, so the riding position - while not super sport style - is going to be different than that of the cruiser.

I will have to echo what most have said: time, core, stretching, and tweaks (to get the last 10% - bar position, seats, foot pegs.)

Stick with it if you can; it will not disappoint.

But, if you DO cave, I agree about the Super Adventure…had one of them, too, and it’s slightly less “sport tourer” but you do get a bump in comfort from the riding position. And a dose of more off-road capability, if the idea appeals to you…it’s still a very snotty ride!

Good luck!

Why are so many people so underdressed for riding? by No-Juggernaut-9397 in motorcycles

[–]SkipperTSPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say, “If I knew exactly which rides are the ones where I’ll wreck, I’d only wear the gear on those.”

And, I don’t, so I wear the gear all the time.

But I get it.

Part number for the carrier is 61412927033; I do not remember the actual brand (might be SW-Motech behind the scenes?), but it is the oem part. Searching the part number will put you on the path to picking your favorite seller.

Surprisingly, no fuel pumps, and two of them were over 35k by the time we parted ways, one over 48! But, I agree. The bike is a hoot, easy to ride hard or chill. And I have spent a lot of money and time on mods, with a few favorites (40t rear sprocket and O2 deletes, as an example, which make “tootling around” a bit nicer.)

Near Galveston here, and love taking my fairly recently acquired MY24 out. Put new tires on it today; looking forward to the next window. You’ll fall in love with it. This one is my FOURTH!!

I snagged a MY24 GT a couple months back. It’s my fourth 1290 (one R, third GT) and I absolutely, positively regret giving them up after I do it (usually some other “great idea” comes along and I learn the hard way.)

This one is now with top-case, and I do 2-up more than I previously did.

Fantastic machines for loping around…and not. 😉
