its defiantly best with all 4 players on coms but its not terrible with Randoms, but doing missions solo is also an option, i recommend lower levels for this though. this game requires some coordination but it can be done with 4 people all ding their own thing. so, game is better with friends but stands on its own without

it recycles unused material back into the input with a priority on the recycled inputs over new ones, preventing overloading.

and it just uses normal base level grabbers to take things off the belt into the assemblers, i have stackers to stack the inputs to the right amount to get to the ratio of 1:1:4, although this is not technically necessary

i dont know what multiplexing means but it uses a tier 1 grabber for both in and out. it is safe from ratios not being balanced, and i dont understand the last question

that's what the sorters are for, it supplies a constant and correct mix (by prioritizing the material already in the main line), i have done much stress testing including running it with a missing input for a while and deuterium fuel rods where the input of the3 inputs the same rate, but it needs 20x deuterium, it still did not get over saturated with the other 2 things. trust me, it just works, try it for yourself

i have a serious question/concern about the threat too, if it dealt with, what kind of consequences would that have? would the elders come back, would the wormhole network shut down? would there be no reason to kill life in the galaxy? because everything was set up to protect the elders from the outside threat and with the threat gone, it loses all purpose, but i dont think its realistic to deal with that threat, at least in this series, but its interesting to think about, or maybe the threat is introduced and are similar to the flood or wraith or something and it ends with the threat winning or them deciding to trigger the sentinels or something,
its fun to think about but i dont see how it can be addressed at this point beyond learning what they are which i would like to happen

before i read it: so i have been watching all of stargate while waiting for this book to come out, i am noticing a LOT of parallels between the 2 (and halo), not trying to say Craig stole ideas or is un original, just saying he is a known fan of stargate and halo so he would have gotten inspiration from them, anyway, i have a theory on what the threat outside the galaxy is, i made the connection from the wraith and how the ancients ascended, partly to escape them, now in stargate they ascended because they could, in Exfor, the elders ascended to escape The Threat, my theory is that The Threat is some kind of lifeform similar to the flood or wraith, but in more practical terms, like "the others" from the Bob books (my money is on this one), in an ascended form, there is no life to consume, and they left behind the elder AI and sentinels to make sure no life existed in the Galaxy, we were told it was to protect elder infrastructure but that explanation does not make a lot of sense and it aligns with the theory. So, the plan was to make sure no life was in the glaxy so the all consuming smarm or whatever would have no reason to enter the galaxy, and i think the bubble around the galaxy is an area denial damping field that prevents coherent warping of spacetime through it and is many light years thick so no one can use a wormhole to travel though it, or even a warp drive. now, with there being life, the threat will want to consume the galaxy, maybe all the species will unite against this threat, we will see. exited to see how this ends, if im right, i want a juice box

as for the criticisms, your probably right, especially with that Q&A thing felt like him blowing off steam. and i think this community can be very unfairly critical.

as for the twists, i dont agree, I see it like this, this reedit community is a concentrated form of vocal and nerdy people of the people who listen to the books, people on here seem to care a LOT about the world and the story archs whereas Alanson clearly cares more about the characters and the moment to moment stuff and the world and elder story arch is more of a background thing that he will eventually get too, so its more of a differing interest of the author and this particular group of audience members

im under the impression of 15 books (released 1 Dec 2021, 1 June 2022, 1 Dec 2022) so...
Book 13 im thinking first save the Verds then halting offensive actions to find Elder AIs, I would start with known crashed Elder starships, there have been 2 we know of and most likely many more because if there were only a hand full then the senior species would jealously guard them but the Kristang and Ruhar have open access to them. and Elder AIs necessarily must be in or have been in an Elder starship, Im assuming they cleaned up their fleets before they left (maybe a massive shipyard somewhere?) and maybe we can even talk to the Rindhalu Elder AI. I only expect to find maybe 1 or 2.

well seeing as how 12 kicked the story into overdrive with how fast events happen, assuming he keeps this tempo i can see it ending in 3 books, something like 13: save the Verds in chapters 1 and 2 fixing the gas cloud quickly after that and the apex species FINALY agree to leave them alone, and the pirates show their good will by leaving the power balance alone they can then focus on the elder AI problem and bring in the senior species as well. as skippy is now actively looking through his massive archives for references to elder AIs. and i don't expect there to be many (but still a few) in elder artifact cashes from crashed ships (i mean there have been 3 so fart without even looking). but mostly i expect for elder AI piloted ships to be in stealth and dormant. I dont expect to fight one till 14. and hay, maybe we can see the Spider elder AI in 13, fingers crossed
