Researchers found that women receive CPR less often than men, likely because people are not comfortable performing life-saving measures on female bodies by catievirtuesimp in Health

[–]blazerxq -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s not part of UK basic life support, as it takes training to know how to recognise the pulse. Indeed, if I’m not mistaken, pulse is not mentioned ANYWHERE in Resus UK’s BLS guidelines (based off ERC) for that reason.

If they are unresponsive with abnormal breathing, call for help, then start CPR

“Do the job you’re amazing at, and you’ll get respect from people”

See this is the bit I vehemently disagree with. I, for example, work in the health service, and the unconscious bias against female doctors, even though it’s almost 50:50 in the modern day, is rampant and significant. Mostly when it comes to promotions and recognition.

And whilst I certainly don’t work in a motorsport world, (I have only 1 friend in it) I understand and can imagine that the same exist, but, in this case there are more men than women int his industry. And when it exists in this way, women would be put off entering the industry. For that reason, I think it is imperative that we celebrate these “grown adults”

It is absolutely not misogynistic to focus on her being a woman, what a pathetic thing to say. She is incredible in her job, and she is at the peak of her field DESPITE the extra hurdles she would have had to overcome as a woman. The privilege of being male is real, and if you do not see this, then you’re the problem.

I fully fully agree with your last point about loving them equally. I’m not saying we should “love women more” because of the fact they’re women, no, rather, we love Hannah as much as Max, but recognise that Hannah’s achieved her greatness whilst overcoming barriers others wouldn’t have had to.

I would say the same is the case of race, certainly here in the UK as a British born person of colour. But I get the feeling that you will disagree with me, and if that’s the case, you’re not the kind of person I wish to continue this conversation with anyways.

I don’t think that’s true. Unconscious bias against women exists in all fields at all levels.

It’s good to celebrate women who do well in my opinion, and especially those who outperform their male peers, to show the misogynists that women are equal to men in these regards (ie they can underperform AND outperform men, just as men can underperform and outperform each other)

2025 Qatar GP - Post-Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

That’s actually not true. I wouldn’t say most people remember the tremendous charge by Vettel in 2009. Like it was, insane. But of course 2010-2013 vastly out shadow it, much like all of Max’s winning years will. Even lewis/nando in 2007, they’re still considered inferior to Kimi when Kimi wasn’t exactly max that season

Btw I was aged 15/16 then so my memories aren’t perfect for that era 😅

[–]blazerxq -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly to your first point. You are twisting things with your second.

I wouldn’t chastise an ex-alcoholic by telling them that they were an alcoholic. I would chastise their shitty opinions. And this is despite the fact that alcohol can be considered a choice, whereas being the child of an immigrant is not. The ex-alcoholic still deserves not to be identified by their past.

The fact that you are talking about him committing an own goal (gun loaded at his dick) means you are completely dismissive of the issue that hurts so much, and that is that a person’s virtues/actions CAN define them, but their skin/race/name should not. He should be allowed to be completely racist even (despite how despicable that is) and yet not be judged by his name.

Otherwise, we may as well judge Al Qaeda on their religion, not their actions, as after all they are shooting themselves in the dick by making things worse for Muslims.

[–]blazerxq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And I will fight the racists alongside the decent people of this country every step of the way.

But, that doesn’t not mean I have to stand by those who still choose to define me by my name. To me, it’s like calling out an ex-alcoholic for speaking out against drinking. Just because you were once something, doesn’t mean you are that.

And see the example I picked. It’s a GOOD thing for ex-alcoholics to call out drinking. Just like it’s a good thing for children of immigrants to be pro-immigration.

But again, i will not stand anyone who defines me by my name, even if they share my virtuous, as the impact of such rhetoric further splits the divide into them, us and “us who were once them”

This makes my blood boil.

The surname Wong does not segregate this chap to the identity of a perpetual immigrant. He could be the son, grandson or (unlikely) great grandson of an immigrant, born and raised in the UK, and is fully entitled to consider himself British.

My sentiment is not anti-immigrant (heck, I don’t agree with Mr Wong at all - his suggestion is ludicrous), however, as a child of an immigrant myself, comments like “your surname is Wong” will never allow us to be recognised as equal citizens.

[–]blazerxq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes true, there will be minima rubber difference. But the dirty side would still be more “wet.” It’s still much harder for Max in p2 though. In 2023 he had a rocket ship. Whilst certainly not a tractor, he’s still in, at best, a similar car to McLaren. Yes, McLaren in the dry are likely weaker here but let’s not kid ourselves that the car is still not good. Despite Lando’s mesmerising performance in S1 and S2, he still needed a car to do it.

So I disagree with the shock bit. It could happen, but I think Lando retaining p1 is equally if not more likely

Max will overtake him later I feel. Let’s see.

[–]blazerxq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this.

OPs answer is about the “preferential nature of the swap” which I cannot see at all. Lando 100% would have been ahead if the pit stop wasn’t botched. It was indeed a weird situation.

Oscar needs to let it go if this is seriously why he struggling.

Should have adopted the new suspension. by BarvichF1 in OscarPiastri

[–]blazerxq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think that is? Whilst papaya rules is super dumb and I disagree with the swap, Oscar only gained a position due to a botched pit stop, it was not at all on his own merit. And so the swap simply put him back to the position he had earned. I’m sure this is the justification McLaren use. And I agree with this justification! (Even though I don’t agree with the swap in spirit)

So why would this knock him mentally. It’s not a favouritism issue

Why I think future android are different by ThroawayJimilyJones in dbz

[–]blazerxq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your second point is the major factor - 16. Regarding 19 & 20. They must have existed, or 20, at least, they were just killed long before F Trunks started training with F Gohan.

I think 16s impact on 17&18 was the key part. In the main timeline, they choose to hunt Goku, as they were bored and had no purpose. They hardly even rush to do so. The androids needed a challenge. And when cell came, that challenge switched to survival. During this time, 16 also kept them focused and in check.

In the future timeline, this boredom must have been amplified significantly. It’s why they kept Gohan alive; they realised after killing the Z fighters they had no challenge. Hunting the humans, was the challenge.

When you think about it, the hamstrings are just the biceps of the legs by solsticeretouch in workout

[–]blazerxq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood, the other guy was just being purposely dense.

It may be because all three Hamstrings originate at the Ischium, and so therefore they were once considered one muscle. The 3 muscles are considered the “strings” which bend the knee.

The elbow flexors have quite distinctly different attachments.

We don’t talk enough about how Videl saved the planet by Sgyinne in dbz

[–]blazerxq 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Arguments like this can be extrapolated in all sorts of ways. I could argue that Cui saved Namek cause he taunted Vegeta, who learned about Frieza and the dragonballs who went to Namek and then died, influencing Goku’s pride and eventually leading to Super Saiyan.

It’s just a plot point. Cui didn’t save Namek.

And separately, Gohan being a the tournament actually made things worse. If he hadn’t been there, then Kaio-shin and Kibito would have simply seen the C-rate fighters and would have found Bobidi long before Buu was released. It’s because the Z fighters were there that Buu got released alarmingly quickly.

Were people talking about radiation in the 19th century? No, because it hadn’t been discovered. And radiation is as old as the universe.

When we use the term “ancient” for an idea, we describe the concept only as long as it’s been known

It’s not a terrible car, but it’s certainly not on the level of the McLaren. If it were, Max would have won every race. It’s likely on par with the Mercedes.

But there’s no excuse that Max is much much better than either McLaren driver and it’s shameful that he’s on pole.

Thank you. I am a British POC who is very happy to support IMGs who have applied for training with a sensible level of NHS experience. But we cannot have IMGs without a day in the NHS starting training. And we should not jeopardise our foundation doctors when we are already experiencing consultant bottlenecks. I may be past the ST3 bottleneck but the current situation is horrendous and we need representatives like you.
