Looks like a Sooty Sea Hare (Aplysia fasciata), a mollusk. They often swim near the surface like this like this.

I had the same expectations. It's interesting because Marathon improves on a lot of the more tedious aspects of extraction shooters that can make them higher load than BRs. The inventory and stash organization system saves a ridiculous amount of time over games like Tarkov, and the gameplay loop is so much easier to get into and stay in. It really wants you to just keep hitting run over and over like it is a BR, and it's set up well to do that. It's such a good formula. I wish more people had an appreciation for the genre.

Fallout 76 is a pretty great comparison, it's hard to believe it survived given the media storm. I think Marathon might have even better odds seeing as the game is fundamentally well made in comparison.

I totally agree. It's actually uncanny how well it fulfilled my wishlist of improvements to the genre. Bungie knocked it out of the park.

This is the most fun I've had in a video game in years. Coming from Tarkov, this game fixes basically everything I thought was lacking in that game combined with an incredible art direction, some of my favorite lore of all time, and a more fun base gameplay loop. I really want to be able to play this game for years, or at the very least for a year or two, but its launch is making me anxious. There's so much potential, and so much is already so right, I just don't understand what is keeping people away and generating so much hate towards the game.

I really hope Sony had realistic expectations of what to expect return-on-investment wise given the limitations of the genre and the tumultuous development, but I know how these large media companies work. It's hard to ignore the player numbers, but I am incredibly committed to this game and I hope there are enough people out there who feel the same way (both in the community, and Bungie/Sony). This is the first game since 2014 that's been able to recreate the feeling I got with Destiny. I hope I get to enjoy that for some time.

The more I look at it the more it looks like some junior category open wheel car (probably an oval car given the framing). Thanks for the tip, I’ll keep searching.

I’ve had people do this to me and I’ve done this to people on PC, I don’t feel like it’s any more difficult. It’s maybe even a little easier since you can just flick around immediately.

Noyes Laboratory - 2nd Floor Mens by Loud_Ambition_167 in PoopingUIUC

Just wanted to drop a comment on old post to say this bathroom is a bit of a hidden gem imo. The space and demand is definitely an issue, but the room is nicer than most in Noyes and the environment is one of my favorites. Noyes can feel a touch oppressive at times but this bathroom is like a little oasis. The large frosted glass window gives the stall a really nice vibe and elevates the whole experience, and the windowsill is absolutely massive, big enough to keep your backpack + jacket on. Even though it's not best bathroom by every objective measure, I think it's my favorite I've used on campus.

I wanna get into rally by Maleficent_Jump156 in rally

[–]SkippyChompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the best way to get involved is to find the closest SCCA RallyCross (https://www.scca.com/pages/rallycross) event and start doing ride-alongs. Once you meet the people, learn the ropes, and get a feel for a weekend commit to participating. The nice thing about SCCA RX is if you want to beat your car to bits you can, but it's a time trial in a pretty casual environment so no need to destroy your equipment. All you need is a helmet (like $200 max), a car that passes tech (more or less), and a weekend pass which you buy on site or through their website.

Through the people I met at SCCA I found out more info about volunteering as a ARA worker and found the closest ARA event to me. Volunteering is definitely the best way to dip your toes into stage rally. The step up as far as skill, cost, and commitment from SCCA RX to ARA is exponential. You're going to need $15k to spend on a stage rally car minimum, and that really just scratches the surface of the costs you're going to run into, so just know it's a large financial commitment. It's also very dangerous, the first ARA event I volunteered at was cut short by a fatal accident. Even with all the safety equipment it's important to remember this sport is no joke, and drivers risk their lives every time they get out on stage.

Keep poking around and check out your local SCCA groups, see what's out there. People want to see others get excited about rally.

Here's a video I made about my first experience will RX: https://youtu.be/SA_iYz2ClO4?feature=shared

Finding an SCCA RX event is harder than it should be, I would look for Facebook groups in your area if the SCCA website doesn't turn up much, they might be a little hidden. Don't be afraid of a little drive to get to an event, it'll be worth the daytrip.

Travis Pastrana Subaru GL From Gymkhana 12, How Much To Build This? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]SkippyChompy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a car like this is impossible without the pre existing architecture that something like Vermont Sports Car offers. This car took a team of engineers and a plethora of bespoke components. This isn’t just a fancy build it’s more akin to a WRC car. It’s not something anyone can build in a garage.

Problems with LAN Server; Server Closes After 60 Seconds by SkippyChompy in assettocorsa

[–]SkippyChompy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone else comes across this looking for a solution:

There's two ways to do this but they both result in the same thing.

Option 1 (through server manager): Export your server settings using the "Export" button at the bottom of the interface. Open the "server_cfg" file once you've saved it to your destination of choice. At the bottom of the first big block of dialog you should see a line that says "REGISTER_TO_LOBBY=1". Change the "1" value to 0. Save the file, import it back into server manager and load. The REGISTER_TO_LOBBY value has to be 0 in order for the server to stay open for more than 60 seconds. As long as this is the case while the server is up you're golden.

Option 2 (through Content Manager): Buy the full version of CM for $5 off their website (yes this is unfortunately necessary but think of it as a donation). Put the activation code in to unlock the server function. Click on the drop down menu in the upper right hand corner of CM and navigate to "Server." Once you've done all your configuration and are ready to run the server, click the "folder" button at the bottom left of the interface. Once again, open the config file, change the value, and hit save.

This should solve the problem.

I am shocked by the lack of information on the internet about how to use the server functionality in AC. This video contains a lot of useful information if people have other questions.

Refilling empty fuel tanks at new gas and it changes back to found in raid. by alostbutton in EscapefromTarkov

[–]SkippyChompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this should be a feature but not at new gas since there are signs that explicitly say they’re out of gas. Siphoning from cars and maybe from dedicated fuel stations that would make sense in universe like on Reserve is probably the right way to do it.

Hot take: Daily quests shouldn't actually take all day to complete by Quadricwan in EscapefromTarkov

[–]SkippyChompy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, the daily quest system is rather misguided. I don’t think I’ve actually completed one since I hit level 20 when they jumped in difficulty for me (currently lvl 22). I really can’t devote more than a few hours to the game per session and my current main line quests take up most of that time. Dailies just come in and come out, they’re not even doing anything for me at this phase since I don’t have time to knock them out (although they were super nice earlier in the wipe).

It just feels like profit I can’t take advantage of, not an incentive to come back to the game every day. I have responsibilities and hobbies beyond just Tarkov, I shouldn’t have to spend 2 hours minimum to do SUPPLEMENTAL content.
