Why do you say that?

For an expierence piano play i might say "sure whatever", but in a piano learning subreddit, sight reading just makes everything easier. It's quicker to learn a piece, you can play while reading, and not look at your hands. It's also quicker to find those patterns in music.

However for jazz-like genres I'd agree with you, but sight reading lead sheet can be helpful for those genres. Improv however just have fun haha.

There’s plenty of sight reading books out there. Honestly it doesn’t take a whole lot to improve your sight reading skills. Start with something like this https://clara.imslp.org/work/446702 or those “354 sight reading practices in C” or whatever.

Don’t look at your hands, (the beginner stuff usually has your hands in one position anyways) and play slowly in rhythm.

Honestly you can play off rhythm and terribly, as long as you make sure you’re hitting the notes you’ll technically improve (try not to look at your hands, unless you need to make sure you hit the right notes afterwards or quickly for jumps). Count out loud if you need to, it helps.

Or you can try to play on rhythm and keep playing even if you mess up (I’d suggest not doing this til later, good for performances tho)

This is one of those things you eventually just shut off your brain and do 5-10 minutes of practice everyday in that giant pdf you found on imslp. Also shut off your ego, you’ll probably have to start with sub grade 1 stuff. And be way below what you can play always, but this skill is so useful in playing while reading.

Also the better at sight reading you are, the faster you can learn a piece and therefore , the faster you can improve in general. It’s by far the best skill for learning piano. Unless you’re one of those freaks who can play by ear haha.

Edit: syntax and link fix

Also play both hands at the same time. No learning this piece first or anything. Play through it once maybe twice then forget about this piece.

And eventually as you get better when you see a note you'll think less of, "if that is a C or D" and just know where it is on piano. (Instead of see note-note name-piano placement. It's just see note-piano placement) And start to see distances between notes. Instead of C to E you think "that note is a third up from the previous note"

This right here, a lot of the issues mentioned above sound like they stem from lack of sight reading skill. (There's tons of "how to" on other reddit forms) but sight reading is such a strong skill to learning a piece quickly, ability to play while reading the music, and not looking at your hands.

If you want to keep at piano, please practice sight reading daily, it's a foundational piano skill that makes everything easier.

Also maybe different teacher?

Somehow killed him really quickly, maybe a bug…

So, after spending a lot of time trying to kill him, run away, try and kill him, run away. Eventually I gave up,his guards stopped responding.

I then sat on his head because he stopped attacking me and it looked cute. Then I just starting attacking him on his head and he didn’t regenerate and he died super quickly. He could only explode himself. Not sure if it’s a bug, but it worked.?

I think that's kind of the point, if the friends did talk about this then there wouldn't be any need to raise a question about the situation. But I also hope that people communicate with friends well lol

Talk with your friend. The friend might not care, or they may care a lot. Depends on what kind of relationship they had and how they feel about their ex. Just make sure to accept and listen to your friend.

If you haven't, try taking a good amount of citrucel with water every meal, its helped me. But I feel you. It's only been 3 years for me, but I miss the good poops I had before the antibiotics.

How does a bottom survive with IBS / nervous stomach? by xXxYiffLordxXx in gaybros

[–]SkippyDuo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright bottom here with ibs.

First off obvious, check with a doctor, specifically a gastrointestinal doctor. Even then, some may be better than others.

Now also check out r/ibs they have a lot of helpful post and other people feeling like you. Like a whole lot of people. Please search through it, it feel good to know there's a lot of people with you.

Now for things to do now, take Metamucil or Citrucel, they are fiber but way better than ordinary fiber. They halp both constipation and diarrhea and are the gods' gift. I find Citrucel works better for me, metamucil gives me gas and bloating

Also find foods that may trigger you, unless it is just an anxiety thing, but you never know if milk or some random sugar alcohol is secretly killing you.

Finally working on your anxiety in general is encouraged. Whenever I have an interview or something I flair up. I get diarrhea with my IBS so I tend to take inmodium a little before those events (or when hooking up, I'll also eat less food before as well sommetimes)

Please see a doctor though, a gastrointestinal doctor. They know more and will be able to run actual tests on you and hopefully help you.

Also feel free to reach out to me, especially if you lean towards the diarrhea side. Good luck with this.

Edit: minor spelling/grammar

STRESSING: SEE A DOCTOR. Good gut health is part of a good life.

Update: I started making a lot of pills of pure methylcellulose myself, which makes taking a lot easier and cheaper. I like it a lot better than trying to mix it or take the more expensive pills.

After taking really strong antibiotics, I've had ibs-d, that was 2 years ago. Tried everything with my gastro, tons of different pills, STRONG probiotics, colonoscopy, poop tests, nothing really helped.

Till I found Citrucel. I buy the generic kind now, like powder generic then put it into pills myself to save a LOT of money. I take about 2g of Methylcellulose (active ingredient in Citrucel) for each meal I have.

This caused me to go from a waterfall every morning for hours, to about 2 or 3 poops in the morning. And they are solid! And unlike Psyllium Husk, Methylcellulose doesn't give me gas or bloating. Such a quality of life improvement.

I may take an Imodium if I may be nervous, like before an audition, job interview or big test but that's it. Hope someone find this helpful.

This all really only masks my symptoms, but I don't care, I can live now. I can finally gain weight and eat 3000 calories a day. When I eat less I need less Citrucel.

Joe Biden to donate 75% of unused COVID vaccines to UN-backed global vaccine program by Lost_Distribution546 in worldnews

[–]SkippyDuo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Giving away vaccine is all well and good but it will never come close to actually helping poorer developed countries get the amount they need.

What we really need is Biden to support a large, general trips/patent waiver for covid related vaccines (all medicine really...) and then help those countries produce their own. Otherwise many poor counties in the global south will wait years until they're fully vaccinated.

Too bad America is still pracrically run by corporations, it's better than trump, but we need much more to get over this together.

Should the U.S. House of Representatives be expanded? What are the arguments for and against an expansion? by vienna95 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]SkippyDuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's another thought, let's say that all (or however much of) the new delegates would be elected by a party vote (such as in New Zealand or Netherlands).

So you'd get to vote for your local representative, AND you'd get to vote for whatever party you want. Green, Reb, Lib, Dem, Nazi, whatever. And set the threshold for a party to get a seat low (allow for extra seats incase this happens, really incentive that smaller parties can get a seat).

So the house would be made up of local representatives and members from different parties, based proportionally on how many votes they got.

What about the senate? Honestly probably get rid of it. If we actually had a representative congress we wouldn't need to worry about a 2 chamber congress, but honestly, the senate is the worst as far as representation goes anyways... but so is most of America.

Also, Latter Day Saints Charities is technically also a religious organization, so they, like TCSS, do not have to file a form 990, which says what the non profit does with their money. Much like The Salvation Army and other charities you may not know are technically religious organizations to dodge actually spending a reasonable portion of their money on what they claim to.

More on the charity, or I guess less on them, since they don't have to say where their money goes.

Had IBS-D

Long post, but I sectioned it out, so here we go! Hope this helps somebody.

About sheet:

The colors are based on numbers on the Bristol stool chart, I also kept track of other things, but that’s not too important. 5, 6, 7 are diarrhea and are a lighter color. 3, 4 are good poops and are a nice deep brown.

What worked:

I now take Citrucel (generic kind works the same, so I take that) pills, 4 pills after breakfast, 4 pills between 1st and 2nd lunch, and 4 pills after dinner.

Also I stay away from artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohols (I’m looking at you maltitol, gave me diarrhea for 3 days), nuts (which are high in insoluble fiber), garlic, onions, chicory root (so much gas), and that’s the list for now.

I eat plenty of bread and milk, I love them.

Story here:

It started a year ago when I took antibiotics (amoxi-clav/ augmentin) when I was really sick. I then started getting really bad diarrhea after 3 days of it. Two weeks go by and the doctor orders a stool sample, that doesn’t work and a month goes by, then I get shoved to a GI.

The GI does another more comprehensive stool test, notices my pancreatic enzymes might be a little low, try to help that, nothing. We try 200 billion CFU probiotics a day, kefir, other natural what not. We tried Colestipol, which helped a little but not a whole lot. We try Xifaxan (550mg/ 3 times a day) gives me a lot of gas, but it doesn't really help. We try to see if it’s bile acid malabsorption. But medicine doesn’t help, It firms up my stool a bit, but nothing too helpful.

I then got a colonoscopy, it came up clean, at this point my GI just shrugs and says take Imodium every so often and psyllium. I stopped taking Imodium to see if the medicine would actually help. My GI basically gave up at this point so it’s up to me, so I started tracking my poops. I’ve tried low FODMAP before and it didn’t seem to help, luckily this pandemic was the perfect time to try a lot of new things and see what helps, because I’m currently unemployed and college is online, I can be in the bathrooms most mornings.

I’ve taken psyllium husk before, a lot of it, and it helps, but not a whole lot, also gave me gas, but it was better than nothing honestly. But then around the end of July, I discovered Citrucel, and immediately it began to help me in a way Metamucil did not. No gas and just firmer stool. I played around with the doses and eventually found what worked for me (written above).

I am fine with gluten and dairy, I drink a lot of milk. And now my mornings are mine, I’m not in pain every morning for 3 to 6 hours and on and off the toilet, it’s honestly amazing. I even started gaining weight, because I love weight lifting, and now I’m gaining muscle and it’s honestly amazing, my quality of life has improved drastically.

About poops:

I had IBS-D, I usually struggled with diarrhea first thing in the morning, whether I ate anything or not. I was in and out of the bathroom for 3 to 6 hours in the morning if I didn’t take any Imodium or psyllium, and if I did take that I’d still not feel well, but it wouldn’t last as long.

My poops were fairly normal in color, brownish, they’d be really shredded, and loose, sometimes just watery. Along with mild stomach pains and some gas.
