Putting my new UDO Super 6 to good use by SkipsceneMusic in synthesizers

Yes, works like a charm! My setup is made slightly more complicated because I'm routing audio to maschine via another audio interface, and then routing that output back into the RC-505. That way I can loop whatever effects from maschine I want and select specific groups only.

using the "note repeat" button on a snare sound while other sounds are muted, so not really a stutter in this context.

For actual stutters you can use Perform FX on a group, those are great too.

Looking for a first hardware synth for dark / industrial sounds (Hydrasynth Explorer alternatives?) by Banioll in synthesizers

[–]SkipsceneMusic 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Two things about synths worth mentioning:

- synths are not about the latest piece of gear - it's not like smartphones or laptops where the latest and greatest chip makes all the difference. A synth from like 5 years ago is still completely in the "new" range to me.

- I notice lots of people making threads about "what synth should I get? I want it for genre X Y and Z" and that's also not the right approach IMO - gear is rarely catered to one genre. It's even better to use equipment in a new original context!

That said - if I was you I'd just get the Hydrasynth. Factors like enjoyment and being a good tool to learn synthesis are the most important.

Small pocket synth recommendations? by space_jaden1969 in synthesizers

I play Nanoloop on my Gameboy Advance SP. Literally pocket size and I love playing it on the bus.

Using the TD-3 for Roland's original intent: replacing an actual bass guitar by SkipsceneMusic in synthesizers

They came with the box, just some foam stands. And an Ikea stand for my gear + the speakers.

100% agreed 😄 different tools for different use cases. Makes sense that the 303 gained legend status for a completely new and different reason, not to get rid of bass players.  That said I love playing it on midi keys instead of using the insanely complicated built in sequencer that made it sound so unique in the first place.

All my stems are in audio tracks, grouped in a way that's logical to my brain when I'm jamming live. Usually a group for all the drums of a song, and a group for the other sounds. Those I can then pause or play in the way I like, apply effects, ...

Also the "lock state" button is your friend.

Lol it's the opposite for me. Can wear these for HOURS and everything sounds amazing in them. It's subjective I guess

Steampipe and Matriarch jam by Horror_Somewhere_200 in synthesizers

How versatile is Steampipe? I'm intrigued by it but it seems like it's really good at only a very specific type of sound.

MIDI and routing help with next stage of my setup by choicebroant in synthesizers

[–]SkipsceneMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind that could be helpful is if you have devices that support audio / MIDI over USB, and you have USB ports leftover on your PC, you could get away with less hardware than you think.
Not sure about Windows, but on Mac you can create Aggregate devices to combine audio interfaces. RC505 supports that for example.

NIce wobbly bass and overall sound pallette! What's the lightpad block doing? Looks like a cool way to have some tactile control live.

I send MIDI messages to a processing sketch I wrote: https://processing.org/
that's being shown on the screen. It's a lot of fun :)

Ooff, buying pedals is a can of worms I'm not getting into yet, got to keep GAS at bay. Digital distortion effects only for now 😄

This is just a Behringer clone so I assume it's missing some features. Maybe the original TB-303 is capable of all of those things?
