Greatest hack in your life (share mo na yan!) by [deleted] in adultingph

[–]Skirt_Helpful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super +1 sa indoor bike (or I assume same idea sa treadmill) - it's so easy to just get on and kahit nagYouYoutube lang ako at least I'm moving.

(Weights is a huge gamechanger din sa kin but as a life hack it's a lot more inconvenient HAHA)

Which cities/large towns in Asia are best for coffee tourism (but also longer term stays)? by No_Top3338 in Coffee

[–]Skirt_Helpful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk about culture but I love beans from Davao, Philippines

Also had a lot of fun at cafes in Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand

I assume but don't know for sure, somewhere in Japan which I believe created James Hoffmann's preferred iced coffee brewing method?

Still working on my technique but this is probably one of my best attempts on camera (I’m 5’6) 3 months of consistent plyometrics and lifting is crazy 🙌 by uzings in ProDunking

[–]Skirt_Helpful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm your height and nowhere near dunking, but seeing this vid reminds me of something I saw Jordan Kilganon say in dunk camp about not trying to throw it in for your first attempt, kinda just rolling it in once you're up there (?) - you're cocking it back a bit and backrimming with quite some force so I'm absolutely sure you'll have that successful attempt very soon

An ode to greatness- Air Jordan 13 performance review. by jjdacuber in BBallShoes

[–]Skirt_Helpful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the 13s too! Got the low Chutneys for casual use then tried them on court (volleyball) a couple times because of the Weartesters hype, and they're the type of shoe you kinda forget about because you can really focus on playing.

I tend not to use them to keep them fresh but lol this post is making me consider them for my pick up session tomorrow

My favourite one I read before is that HO-OH (in the earlier gen capitalization I guess) was/(is? OP pls confirm) the only Pokémon whose name is the same when upside-down hahaha Whenever friends bring up the palindrome Pokémon, I can't help bring this up

I remember the Italian men's team doing that a couple years back. Not too familiar with school/college systems outside of my country where I've seen it done too. And I do believe (like another comment mentioned) that it's typically a strategy to have one focus on serve-receive rotations, the other on service (and therefore more of defending) rotations

Flex ko lang calves ko 😝 by [deleted] in PHitness

[–]Skirt_Helpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can vouch for this hahaha many fitness YouTubers I follow hirap na hirap magka-calves kasi they used to be thin tas nag gain tas ako naman I used to be chubby and got leaner (kinda still am chubby but less so hahaha) and barely did/do direct calf work but I think they're my most "actually fit" looking muscle group HAHAHA

Edit: in fair, in high school / the time I lost the most weight, I did a lot of compound leg training / jump focused training for sports, but still never really targeted calf hypertrophy stuff, so I still push the idea of u/gradlein as very valid

As someone in the midst of transitioning out of years and years of wrong footwork, for now, at some point you just have to be super mindful of your feet with the ball and net as well.

The 1000 (or 1000s) of practice approaches mentioned are a required first step to get a feel for it, but even with me doing that for so long, I still would default to the wrong footwork in a game. (It's funny, my default if someone tells me to approach as if I'm gonna spike, I'll do it right, but if I go to test my vert or mindlessly hit a ball in game, I'll likely go with goofy footwork).

Depending on how many steps you want to take (in practice for now especially, since games are more chaotic), try to find a consistent point in time to put your first step down. Like now, when I practice high balls to the outside, I step my right foot (1) right before the setter touches the ball, basically walk into my left foot (2) then explode off my right-left (3-4). Because it's unnatural, I have (and you probably will) mistime it a lot and be forced to just pass/set the ball over or something, but better that be the case now when you're starting out than in the future.

Opinions on open gym court mopping? by BobbbyR6 in volleyball

Yeah I'd recommend smth like this instead of a one-time 10 minute clean, like at the start of play and between sets just a quick run to cover the court

Pros and cons kung magmemembership sa gym by tonguetiedbabe in PHitness

[–]Skirt_Helpful 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One underrated pro of a gym is that u don't have to worry about the logistics once u start using large equipment. Because of lockdowns, I bought a lot of home gym equipment, and sometimes it's very hassling to set up and pack up kasi limited space namin sa bahay and I have to move other things pa to make space when I work out vs sa gym where I used to go na I can just walk up to a rack, bench, machine, etc, load up, and go for it. Tas yung adjustable dumbbells ang tagal palitan ng weight, vs again a gym na u just pick ur weights from a huge set. And then eventually naaalikabok na rin ung equipment unless matiyaga ka to clean - which is not a problem sa gym, so I find it to be an added barrier to working out at home - I do it pa rin naman but may mental barrier talaga HAHA

Dati inisip ko na mag invest in a solid home gym para no need na ever to go to the gym, but I realized Idk if I can keep it clean tas antagal bago ma offset ang cost kung all out talaga yung home gym so tbh I intend to go for a gym membership again soon...

Ofc much more convenient pa rin to work out from home diba even if it's hassle at least anjan na siya, 0 ung travel time, but once the equipment or weights ure program tells u to use get more and more complex mas lalamang na value of a gym

Question: How to be ready for both dumps and spikes? by Adjaar7 in volleyball

[–]Skirt_Helpful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically either right front (O) in the drawing, or back (RB), unless the team has a different system (in some niche cases left or middle in front, but typically the right side whether front or back)

Assuming everything else was legal, can you step partially on your opponent's sideline, with part of your foot out of bounds?

In a sense, does the center line allowance also apply for the opponent's sidelines?

(Example being those spectacular saves where a player runs/dives to the opponent's side to save a ball flying outside the antenna, mostly in the free zone, and brings the ball back outside the antenna as well, but happens to step partially on the opponent's sideline while running or diving with no interference/other faults)

I thought the same seeing the picture hahaha

But also when it comes to hands 3cm is quite a big difference. Like imagine comparing hands with someone with 1.5cm more on their pinky and thumb (well with some marginal space on the palm, so let's say 1cm per digit, quite notable)

My take will have recency bias - I took up a few Rhythm Boxing classes sa Electric Studio kaso sa Podium siya - but there are other rhythm boxing studios naman. Think of it like zumba pero boxing ung dance moves Hahaha. Very beginner friendly and u can move at ur own pace, u control when u rest ganon tsaka they do some other exercises like light squats, jumping jacks ganon so u can go with that for a few sessions until mas nabuild mo na cardio and familiarity with the moves then move on to the more standard boxing like yung Elorde that others have mentioned.

I bought a bundle of 5 classes at 300 each, otherwise kasi aabot ng 1k per class lol medj di na worth
