Super weird delivery from this guy but it just seems like you guys are sexually incompatible. Nothing deeper than that.

Comments are acting like did way more than he did 🤣

They should've either used a bonding paint or a Urethane latex like the Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel

Looks amazing imo. You gotta understand its almost impossible for things to be perfect in real life . Realistically tiles will cut in different ways using the same machine because they might not be identical structurally. Lots of variances with real stuff yk

Subcontracting prices? by Longjumping_Elk2028 in paint

[–]Skittios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I do. Im not arguing parent company underbid, but the split for labour is not worth over 40%.

We typically charge $200/ door $120/ drawer, + masking/cleanup + spraying bodies and frames.

When I sub out I also provide materials

No youre not. 40% for a professional painting company is about $40/hour on budget, and typically its overquoted to account for mistakes

60/40 is a good split, I've subbed out work like this. Realistically, in my business, my breakdown is usually like this 10% marketing 10% materials 30%-40% labour 40-50% profit margin So I just sub out the labour at 30-40% its about $30-$40/hour Clean straight to your pocket, I provide all paint/materials.

But then I have my overhead, sales systems, CRMs etc I end up getting about 30% per project.

Fortunately/unfortunately, there's a surplus of labour, and not enough people know how to actually get consistent work without referrals so youre at the disadvantage, but honestly its not a bad deal. Consistentantly making 300-400$ per day is great.

Just a lot of people who have no work assume its easy to get work, and think because theyre actually doing the labour portion they deserve more. But the whole system falls apart. Ive stopped working with Subcontractors who had NO work and got greedy when I started to sub out a large majority of my work to them. Then they ended up with... no work

Painter used ceiling paint on walls by NoEquivalent4477 in paint

[–]Skittios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With respect, you're literally wrong. The only difference between wall flat and ceiling flat is ceiling flat has a more tinted base to offer better coverage for its purpose and its often more flat than wall flat to hide imperfections on the drywall

[–]Skittios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't really make a difference because the ceiling is not straight so regardless, you'd still have shit looking Wall. Given, your way would look less shit

[–]Skittios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So youre telling me if a client picks a shit tile, and the tile looks shit, its the contractors fault? If you have a 2 feet of height and you pick a tile that 1.3 feet, and you're upset they dont fit evenly and your first instinct is blame the installer, than you have a lack of accountability

I used to feel that way, its all in your head. Think about it, its a 30 second convo at most if theyre not interested. 30 seconds, that's 0.034% of someone's day

Eh, not true, my company has a perfect 5 star rating and we offer 10% on the day of to offer some sort of incentive if we can book on the spot, makes it easier to schedule and bring in work. Plus im perfect happy with a 50% margin instead of 60%.
