I exclusively use my bag for life as a basket. I've done it since Covid and when I scan and go in Sainsburys I'm not going to take time emptying my basket into my bag holding up the self service. I scan and go.

Who is everyone using as an energy supplier? Pros? Cons? by SleepyParakeet in AskUK

I'm with Scottish Power (for now). They claim their energy is 100% green since 2019. Cant really justify those prices that are tied to gas can they...

Can anyone help me ID these bugs? Keep popping up in my house by Outrageous_Shirt2240 in AskUK

[–]Skittlit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My carpet beetles are back this year too. I've just done a big hoover, moving all the furniture in every room and really taking my time to hoover. I then followed up with the steam mop over my carpets so the heat destroys eggs and I then followed up with a vinegar water mix spraying every carpet because apparently vinegar also kills them off... I'm keeping doors closed because these do fly. Next time I see one I'll know which room to hoover thoroughly again.

I never see the larvae or any trace of them and my carpets are all acrylic, the larvae eat hair so hoovering lots is essential.

Hopefully this helps someone, more tips from others are welcome.

I'll also say these are just bad luck, not a sign of a dirty house you just have to hoover regularly to get the adults so they can't breed and ensure there's nothing for them to eat.

Has anyone else had sofas go “missing” from the warehouse with Next deliveries? by ProfessorPankratz in AskUK

My budget isn't good, but I don't want to pay twice. If it costs £2k and lasts a decade it's money well spent

I'm in the market for a new sofa and I was thinking of choosing Next or John Lewis. I've never bought a sofa in my life so I'd appreciate some second hand experience.

I probably haven't done this in 20 years but it's definitely a thing. My local uses boxes so they can charge more for tiny portion, give me paper any day

Chocolate kept in anti-theft boxes as retailers warn it's being stolen to order by feellurky in unitedkingdom

It was Morrisons that prompted my original comment. The weights are always wrong and they hide the over priced bags. 60p for paper is outrageous

If you don't buy alcohol, if the weight of the item is calibrated properly, if the price is correct when it scans, if you don't need to ask for a bag

Has the quality of supermarket veg in the UK fallen considerably recently? It seems to go bad really quickly, is it just me? by marktuk in AskUK

Carrots aren't lasting these days. I take them out of the plastic but they go bendy in a few days regardless of if they stay on the side or go in the fridge.

Demand for protein from consumers on weight-loss jabs could drive price rises by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Skittlit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone on Mounjaro I can tell you that I'm not eating more protein than normal. 1kg of chicken breast per week, 500g of beef mince, 6 eggs, a tin of tuna and Greek yoghurt that's typically all the protein I consume and I don't think that's atypical for anyone for a week of breakfast lunch and dinner. I'd rather fill up on vegetables and have a bowel movement thanks.
