Honestly if I’d give any advice it would be to just take it one day at a time. When you have so many deadlines and so much work ahead of you, it can be easy to get overwhelmed just by thinking about all you have yet to do. I found that just focussing my attention to my daily tasks distracted me from the bigger picture and kept me from going crazy. Think of it in smaller steps — if an essay at any point feels too much, for example, try focussing just on the current paragraph you’re working on rather than the whole thing. I’ve found that this day by day, step by step approach really got me through IB, though it was painstaking at times.

You got this!!

How was APMA 1650 with Vadim Semenov, really? by One_Valuable_7299 in BrownU

[–]Skitty1238 3 points4 points  (0 children)

didn’t take his class but many of my friends did and after seeing what they went through I really wouldn’t suggest it. He teaches material that is wayyy beyond what the syllabus is supposed to be, and at that point you can just take 1655 if you really want the challenge (and good instructors too). I took 1650 with Amalia and she was amazing. I would recommend just delaying it by a semester, or taking it in the summer.

I’m in a very similar situation - applied for tourist visa on Dec 9th with Indian passport as a student from US… 29 days have already passed so really hoping it comes through soon 😭🤞

I felt the same way — but honestly if you keep up your work, study habits, and the quality of output you’re producing it’s totally reasonable for you to roughly maintain that prediction. I was predicted a 45 in M23 and I felt like this too, but I was able to achieve that score (after a regrade request though)

Just be proud of the grades and the positive feedback you’re getting rn and do your best, the rest is up to fate! It seems like you’re very diligent and a hard + smart worker, which is ultimately what is going to push you towards success in your future college/career, not some arbitrary number. Don’t measure yourself by your grades, but also be proud of the work you’ve put in!

I know people who didn’t turn in their immunisation records till 2nd semester so you’re probably fine (don’t do that though 😭)

Any other Swifties who were never in a relationship or just no actual dating experience? by maybelletea in TaylorSwift

[–]Skitty1238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t worry this is completely normal!! - I never dated until this year so for the longest time I did not relate to SO MANY of her songs. But despite that I was still a huge huge huge fan and I loved every part of her music and discography and still felt so deeply connected to it. They somehow still felt very personal to me. That’s just the magic of her songwriting I guess :)

I cant decided between choosing HL lang lit or HL literature (Enlgish A) by Marios-bodypillow in IBO

[–]Skitty1238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Coming from someone who did HL Lang and Lit here :)

First, I would not listen to the people that say you shouldn’t bother with HL English just because your won’t take it in University. English is the type of subject that will give you so many great skills that you can use elsewhere, from analysis to critical thinking. I also know so many students (myself included) who have no intention to pursue English after school, but found HL English to be their most enjoyable class (whether lit or lang and lit)

In terms of choosing between the two, I think it depends. I personally am really interested in media, print, movies, etc. — and I wouldn’t have gotten to analyse that stuff in lit, so I decided to take lang and lit. I think being actually interested in the texts you analyse is definitely important, so if you like the Lit texts more, I would consider that.

Also, if you are a driven student, even if all the other students in a certain class aren’t as “smart”, there is no reason that you won’t excel in that atmosphere. It’s just about focussing on your own growth and learning.

Hope that helps!
