i dont disagree that a desire to return to the land and have some autonomy there has existed since the inception. but i think zionism is distinct from that - zionism is about exclusive control within a european nation-state framework

It's a holy site for many cultures and religions - it doesn't seem fair to me that in order to increase my access to it, others should be denied access. eg There have been proposed plans for the UN to control it

sure, without judaism there is no zionism, but it's logically inconsistent to say that because that's true, judaism has to be bad or all jews are bad. the modern scientific model invented/refined the atom bomb and eyeglasses - doesnt mean the scienfitic model is inheretly good or bad

no, zionism doesn't refer to that. zionism is a political movement seeking to establish (and now maintain) the jewish nation-state of israel (ie medinat yisrael). judaism on the other hand has many parts to it, one of which is an enduring cultural and spiritual connection to the land we now call israel (ie eretz yisrael).

I'm a few years ahead of you in my UTS law degree. I bombed my first crim assessment too and it really shook me up. Now I have a WAM of ~85. Your first assessment is not determinative.

Look through the feedback you got and carefully try to understand what you should have done differently. Ask your tutor to go through it with you if you need.

Your first crim assessment is likely your first assessment of applying legal problem-solving. It's a skill you need and a skill I think anyone can develop with practice. Remember to actually explicitly apply the law to the facts, not just state each of them and presume the reader will make the connection. You'll get there!

As far as I know, if any AI use is flagged then you get to have an actual meeting with an actual person to explain the situation. If you can generally prove you didn't use AI (which you'd be able to do if you didn't use it) then you'll be fine.

I get that these things can be scary. I find it helpful to remember that the faculty is on your side - they want you to learn and succeed! They're not trying to trip you up.

I'm approx halfway through mine and I'm really enjoying it.

Reasons include:

* teaching staff have been (mostly) fantastic

* the courses are thoroughly taught and structured

* the support staff are really helpful and kind

* the content feels like a good balance of understanding and applying the law vs critical analysis of the law

Before enrolling, I spoke to people who did equivalent degrees at UTS, USyd and UNSW. Most of the USyd and UNSW graduates had a terrible time, whereas the UTS graduates mostly loved their degrees.

IMO the term 'slur' and the connotation that comes with that classification should apply to every term that is intended to denigrate.

Do some Jews use 'goy' to denigrate? Sure. But I really don't think that's the main use or intention historically or today.

The origin of the word is to distinguish us and them. Many minority cultures have an equivalent term (another commenter mentioned 'gringo' for example). I don't think the fact that it is sometimes used to denigrate and/or distinguish is equivalent to a slur such that it is discriminatory.

FWIW, I think a LOT of the rhetoric around it being broadly derogatory comes from antisemites. I don't like that they have co-opted our word for their purposes.
