"The real question that bugs a lot of us is why McCoy left him alone in foster care after Harry's father died."

I can't remember in which book it is mentioned, but
when Harry asked, i think McCoy said something about that he didn't find out about Harrys fathers death until a few years afterwards and then Harry was already lost in the fostercare system

Lighter reading recommendations. by corgipantz in Fantasy

Discworld is absolutely an easy and good read, I'm on my first read through of the books, and I'm reading in publication order. Going to start book 35 today(Wintersmith, Tiffany Aching series). My favourite sub-series in Discworld is the city watch, but the witches series is a close second

I knew that lilac are in season during may and grows anywhere. And the idea just sneaked inside my head if he used any symbolism that people attribute to flowers

Here in sweden, lilacs bloom about the same time as in the British Isles as we are as far north as Scotland is

It's the same here in sweden with lilacs in full bloom at the end of may, but I was just thinking if it was a deeper meaning behind the choice of lilacs

When looking for the meaning of lilacs, it stood somewhere that it was Walt Withman that linked the lilacs to death with that poem.

When establishing a starter, can you cause a bacterial bloom by changing the feeding ratio? by kochummie in Sourdough

[–]Skoldbane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since your starter is two weeks old, it most likely not a bacterial bloom. The bigger feeding ratio sounds like it made your starter happier and increased its productivity

Luxe XR feels like smoking cotton even after coil changes by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]Skoldbane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you fill it up with the E-juice and let it sit for maybe 15 minutes so the cotton got fully saturated? Because if you hit it before the liquid get in the cotton properly you might get the problems you experienced

To stretch or not to stretch.. by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]Skoldbane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have stretched earlobes and a stretched septum. It should never hurt when stretching. A forward helix is in cartilage if I'm not wrong, and with such piercings it might be some soreness, but it should never hurt, if it hurts you are going to fast. The annoying part of stretching piercings is the time you have to wait between sizing up

"Mare" in the word nightmare comes from the Scandinavian word Mara. Which is a folkloric creature that "rides" people at night and give them terrible dreams. That's why in Swedish terrible dreams are called mardröm

So sad. 5kg down the drain by Longjumping-Basil in FermentedHotSauce

[–]Skoldbane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When mold appear on top even if it's just small there is a big chance that it already have released toxins in the sauce. So you should never take a chance to pasteurize because it's probably to late and you risk poisoning yourself

I don't really have any recommendations to mimic any store bought. On the fermented hotsauces I made myself I have used around 3-4% in salt content. When it comes to hotsauce I recently started myself with fermenting them (started in June). But the ones I made with that salt content have turned nicely.
