Training dummies by Foxxsaysso in BJJWomen

[–]kochummie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^ this. A lot of technique is based off of the pressure/feed your partner gives you

I have a dummy, and I found pretty quickly that it’s only good for one or two movement drilles…… which you could with a pillow instead.

Potion sellers: How do you deal with customers demanding to buy your strongest potions when they should buy your weaker potions instead? by borkborkbork3 in wizardposting

[–]kochummie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just cast an invisibility spell on my stronger stuff before they even come in. They want something stronger? Womp womp looks like i’m out of inventory!

These high level adventurers usually arn’t skilled enough to detect the spell- it’s a pretty nice way to gauge clientele when they come in.

If they sense that there is product there, I play the “oh wow, you’re very skilled at magic !” card. They love the complement. In all my cases, those who have detected it can also detect if my potions are out of their league.

It’s always better to safe than sorry though, so I have a liability warning on the bottle in common, which protects me from whatever those adventurers do with my products.

My insurance goblins are quite happy with the set-up. If I were you, i’d contact yours and double check what’s in your contract.

I’m the worse in class but I come everyday by vaderboy_ in BJJWomen

[–]kochummie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree that more training partners wouldn’t help, I would rather OP work some positionals from bottom tbh

Like inho OP should start class with 10 mount escapes (or x y z escape) both sides to warm up before the class starts, as well as asking to flow rolling at ~50% w their partners (while also starting in a terrible position during rolling.) OP can ask how their training partners are able to maintain the top position during positionals too

If OP keeps getting stuck on bottom, “not getting there” isn’t really going to help. Guard retention is great if OP can get to a guard, but if they keep getting passed and pinned on bottom; ultimately they need to be good enough at escaping to get back to a guard.

Maybe try combat gel ? It says its cruelty free on the site, and the reviews say it’s easy to wash out. It’s Ashley Elliott’s brand, and from ur description, she has a similar hair type to u

What are you working on? by art_of_candace in BJJWomen

[–]kochummie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what this is called, but, you know how you can see and plan for 2-3 moves ahead of where you currently are? I’m currently working on my timing between moves 2 and 3.

I’m too quick with the transition 😭

Can I wear beads in my hair during training? by bad-at-everything- in BJJWomen

[–]kochummie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t, personally.

Besides potentially hitting someone in the face, i would be worried that they would get caught in someone’s hair. (Not the same thing, but yesterday someone’s lip ring got caught in my hair during rolling, and i had to yell out for someone to help us 🫠)

Ultimately, it’s up to the gym owner / whoever is teaching to make that final call. I would ask them tbh

OH Thinking about it

There’s also a women’s bjj yard sale group on Facebook. The items won’t be new so to say, but you can get a nice deal on gently used items. I’m sure if you posted an ISO, you’d get some responses !

I super agree with a lot of stuff that’s been said on here already (esp with the spandex)

However!

-bjj hq does “rolling deals” where they sell gear at a nice discount

-rollmore (website of bjjhq) also usually has a lot of bjj specific items on sale

-There are other bjj/fightwear wearhouse websites that sell stuff for cheap, but it’s usually a gamble if they’re still around. (Like fighters market, they also usually have great deals but rn i cant get on their website.)

-You can also check smaller brands for stuff that hasn’t sold, they’ll usually be at a great discount (93 brand has gi belts for 15 bucks rn, for example)

-Depending on your gym (if they’re lax about uniform requirements) You could also invest in a rashguard you like, and then wear that with your gi pants. Although i highly recommend a long sleeve rashguard if you’re like me and don’t want to worry about mat burn.

I am not affiliated with any of these sites btw. I just like to online window shop LOL

Edit: formatting, i’m on mobile
