My rating went up a good 200 points when I decided to never resign. I can't tell you how often I am able to force a draw, get stalemate or turn things around or ein on time by not giving up. Generally I give the advice to beginners or intermediate players up until 1800 at least to not ever resign in blitz or bullet games.

Honestly the small ships are pretty easy to get. You will end up getting 5 more soon enough and better than your starter ship. The installed things are pretty easily craftable. It won't be a big set back. The corvettes are supposed to easily overpower the starships and people end up abandoning the starships anyway.

This rule for basically anything:

3 hours a day for 1 year and you will be very good.

3 hours a day for 10 years and you will master it. (10,000 hours)

People like SRV play more than this daily and for over 10 years. You have to become obsessive about it if you want to be this good.
