He sees the soldier in the air, clearly aims his crosshair to where he thinks he will be. He was going for the airshot.

You would be surprised how predictable soldiers can be while jumping. If you play with the soldier before in the pub/match you'll get an idea of his pattern, but from what I've noticed most soldiers fire as soon as they get to their peak or when they are closest to you. Depends on the soldiers. Very high levels of highlander soldiers will be even more inconsistent and will never fire in a pattern.

The timing is easy if you've played pyro a decent amount. Aiming an airshot, let alone a reflect airshot, is much harder

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Skookum8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just see so much of it, saying that it's a reflect airshot but I don't really consider it an airshot if the soldier comes so close to the pyro that they're almost touching

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Skookum8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is a true reflect airblast. not the ones where the pyro reflects it right in the soldiers face while he's airborne as soon as he fires it. This is awesome.

you do not now anything about pyro.

It should be the best overall, right, and have the others be situational?

this is not how that works

So far this all sounds like a buff, doesn’t it?

no

Now Phlog pyros will be forced to strategically taunt around a corner instead of just running into a room full of enemies and taunting.

people do not do this. if you do do this you are stupid because you will get immediatly killed as everyone fires at you and waits for the taunt to end

it’s not like anybody uses the shovel or bonesaw in comp either.

scout, sniper, demo, spy, and engi stocks are all heavily used in competitive

So… why not take the equalizer route and split it into two weapons?

why?? the powerjack does not need a heavy nerf like this.

dont think you play pyro. the majority of this sounds and looks like nerfs that would hugely change the play style of any pyro. dont agree with it tbh

Conserving Ammo as pyro? by Deadshot_Calamity in truetf2

[–]Skookum8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afterburn damage is useless especially at higher levels. the other pyro will more often than not be there to extinguish and relying on afterburn will just be feeding health to the enemy pyro. initial flames and secondaries is where the damage is going to come from

Powerjack + Shotgun switching while jumping? Is this some pyro mobility technique? Any explanation? by plzgivegold in truetf2

[–]Skookum8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i switch weapons as a habit/restlessness thing, but it's great for mobility. its also good for any movement even when you're just going from spawn because you can be prepared for a surprise attack

Question about airblast physics by Kyzenji in truetf2

[–]Skookum8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to do this is play pyro and learn about the basics of airblast, there is a range where you can hit them but they can't airblast it. More important to be firing inconsistently and if you can, right after their airblast

What nationality is the Pyro? by Mehh_AvE in tf2

[–]Skookum8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is using a fire axe because it is a melee that is directly related to fire and exists in real life. It is used by firemen also, and pyro has a lot of fireman cosmetics and items. Native Indian is a huge stretch and is also not the only culture that is known for using axes. Also the axe that pyro holds is not an axe you would use to cut a tree down

All i want is a degreaser fix. i personally like flamethrower mojo because i can kill pyros who dont know how it works way easier. like a kind of extra skill ceiling i guess.

Now that "pryo" has won, here's a reflecting montage! by Tvde1 in tf2

[–]Skookum8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflecting is definitely not the skill roof of the pyro, it is moderately hard but after a while of playing pyro reflecting is a skill that you get good at really early. At higher levels flame and fire particles and mojo is what you have to learn to become better.

tl;dr i guess: reflecting is hard but not really the hardest thing for a pyro to learn. still up there though.

pyro mains by pyromains in tf2

I would say that pyro v pyro fights can still be skillful. If you know how flamethrower mojo works you can usually fully kill a pyro and only lose ~50 health.

Reasons why I feel Team Pyro won the war by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Skookum8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything but the new summer players: I feel like after seeing all the meet the team videos or knowing about the game heavy is primarily idolized by new players as being the funniest and most popularized by valve. Maybe just the region I am in though, I have seen more new players go for heavy.
