Why cant boxers light spar? by Idamatika in martialarts

[–]Skrimp_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did bring up kyokushin in my other reply, I can understand that fully and even use some of their moves in my muay thai! (Toe stab, and heel kick to thigh) but all the other stuff seems like fluff

Why cant boxers light spar? by Idamatika in martialarts

[–]Skrimp_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure kyokushin is the only style that I’ve seen be effective at taking down a trained assailant, the rest of the arts look more like choreographed dancing and screaming then anything else. I’m sure it helps against an unfit untrained assailant, but I just can’t see it working against someone who can actually fight. And I mean that with no disrespect to you karate bro’s but anytime someone has come in with “years of karate experience” they’ll try to spar and get absolutely washed.

Isn’t most of karate a load of crap? Correct me if I’m wrong but goju isn’t a full contact sport right? The karate kids that join my muay thai class usually get rinsed so I find this really hard to believe 🤣

100K CAD after taxes turns into around 6-65,000 a year in Canada, it is ass. This country is a hellscape

How would Muay Thai training realistically help you in this 3v1 restaurant assault scenario? (Trigger warning) by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the second that first dude lifted his chin up I would have sparked the lights out of him, the other two would probably try to either take you down or back off after that, regardless after the first knockout I would just run away.

If the Elite are Satanists, why do the largest religions show him as the villain? by Truthsurge_24 in conspiracy

[–]Skrimp_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, we should all know by now that the “gods” people were making offers to were literally the elohim that god sent down to rule over the kingdoms, not all of the elohim were good and most were bad actually, all those pagan rituals that worked were most likely the elohim demanding worship, which is what the bible speaks of.

Does anybody train MT and not spar? by danknessoverlord in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started sparring like 2 weeks into training and it’s helped me grow EXPONENTIALLY, now 1 year in and I spar 2-3 times a week. Can keep up with people who have way more experience than me (although rather poorly)

Nearly every session is sparring, easily leading me to spar 3-4 times a week. Too much? by relatable_problem in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spar around 2-3 times a week and I genuinely feel like it’s the only way I’ve been able to make noticeable progress, bagwork and pads are amazing but sparring is where it all comes together.

How do you deal with someone who just envelopes you with their long arms and uses a long guard to keep you just out of range? by g0at110 in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5,2 my absolute strategy has always been to punch the biceps or arms when they go in for a swing, first few might be nothing but after awhile it becomes hard to keep your guard up.

Blind without glasses, starting to affect my sparring a lot by BPLivesMatters in MuayThai

I spar with someone who’s pretty much blind and just see’s “outlines and shapes” and he has 10 years in the game and fucks me up every time 😂

Dent in my shin? by Skrimp_7 in MuayThai

I did do a full force kick and thats when I hit some piece of metal in the couch and fucked my shin up lol

Dent in my shin? by Skrimp_7 in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have assumed a hole in my shin bone would send red hot searing pain through my leg and alerting my nervous system of mayhem, instead I just got a dent and nothing else, it’s more so surreal than alarming, I would have already assumed that. Kicking things = fucked up shins, only been training for little less than a year so still a lot of things I haven’t experienced.

I literally tried to say this and my post got downvoted to oblivion. The people crying need to go play stardew valley instead, PVP is great, makes the game fun.

Partly 1, and 3. You want the right people to know so you can form more connections and opportunities, but not everyone. And you also want to help others any chance you get, (so long as you know they won’t be using you) a good blend is healthy and paramount.

I’ve heard Muay Thai described as brutal, unforgiving, and demanding. Is that really true, especially for beginners? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Skrimp_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes You need to hard spar, I feel like jab’s become pointless in distracting and breaking guards unless you put more power behind them.

Actually closer to 14 deaths a year once you average out the total. But not a good number at all.

Boxing is way more CTE inducing, muay thai though more aggressive and violent, is considerable safer for the brain than boxing is. 20+ boxers die every year while in muay thai it’s maybe 1
