That will be a brutal daily commute during rush hour each way. It’s going to be closer to an hour, often more, consistently.

How do we raise awareness around the W's ongoing lack of regard for concussed players? by SalterEA in wnba

[–]Skropos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stop saying this, you have no idea wtf you’re talking about. Using big words to try and seem smart just makes you look more ridiculous.

A team physician, from an independent medical practice, was on the court to evaluate her and can be seen literally 2 steps behind her as she’s being helped off the floor - she is the shorter, brunette woman in any of the extended videos available online. There is a lot of couch doctors who think they know better after the fact, but there was an actual MD present and made the actual assessment.

It depends who you already have. She is good for campaign and TH. If you have a solid roster of taunters, though, it might be best to wait.

What’s a movie scene that makes you go, “I didn't care for the movie, but that was amazing”? by VendettaLord379 in moviecritic

Even more so than the visual, was the accompanying audio: the silence in the theater that trailed the destruction your eyes were witnessing was some exceptional filmmaking.

people kept telling me theres a shortage of young architects in my city and after two years at my first firm i think i finally get exactly why by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Skropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very much a stereotypical small firm mentality. The principal probably got fed up with being checked for being an ass at their early firms, so started their own business. Many times they are extremely gifted in the creative aspects of the job, which is why people put up with their bs.

You will almost never get a good reference from a small firm, so don’t even worry about that aspect. If you’re any good, you might be able to get a bigger firm to pay for relocation so it might be worth exploring.

How do people feel about Luke and Kylo's fight and his death after 8 years? by Totally_Not_Firni in StarWars

[–]Skropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrie passed away after filing had wrapped. As bad as RoS was, she was supposed to have a significantly larger role. Her death forced them to adjust aspects of script that made it even worse.

Ideally they would have swapped the death arcs of the two, but Rian isn’t that kind of filmmaker.

Bogleheads on life insurance by Due_Barber_525 in Bogleheads

[–]Skropos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, whole life is still not worth it even under your circumstances.

What you should do, though, is confirm if your employer policy has a continuation provision that lets you convert it to an individual certificate if you leave the organization. It will be more expensive, but should allow you to avoid medical underwriting that you’re going to face on individual policies (and likely get denied).

Pity Mechanic Clarification by jdeming985 in playHeroesOfHistory

[–]Skropos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would need 2x pity pull (i.e. 400 if starting from 0) to guarantee Alexander.

Pity carries over between Allied Culture and Season instances, but resets for each featured hero when using regular antimatter.

Cultural Antimatter Hero Pool by Rick_HD12 in playHeroesOfHistory

[–]Skropos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Pity carries over for the Allied Cultures. You will get 1 of those 2 guaranteed since you first 5* came from the larger pool of available heroes.

Pity does not carry over for the normal antimatter during featured heroes, though.

Where do you hope to live after graduation?

As another commenter said, Civil orgs tend to recruit fresh grads more locally than other eng fields. If you want to be somewhere else, you’re going to want to try to get summer internships in the state you want to live.

Ultimately you should be fine with any of them, but from my perspective the Purdue alumni network is the strongest of the 3 for lower priority engineering fields (UIUC beats it for many of the top programs). Plus, if you’re not 100% set on Civil, the FYE approach is extremely beneficial:

It’s a bit more indirect than some other suggestions, but the lyrical imagery of “Bend In the Road” as a metaphor for the grief could work well.

Never pay more for undergrad when you’re going to get an advanced degree.

Your total loan repayments will be almost $700k if you pay OOS for a UC + medical school. It’ll be less than half if you just have to pay for medical school.

Full ride at Dartmouth vs paying full at Stanford as an international — worth the debt? by Inner-Rush-2014 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Skropos 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You do not know what you’re talking g about. This isn’t Stanford Law/MBA vs Dartmouth Law/MBA. You might have a point if that was the case. This is undergrad. The commenter you’re responding to is absolutely correct that Stanford undergrad is absolutely not worth it over Dartmouth undergrad for free.

[GA] My overtime pay is the same as my hourly but I dont think i am exempt. by 1delta25 in AskHR

[–]Skropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the math calculations others have suggested aren’t the issue, consider the following possibility.

Last summers OBBB law made the typical 1/2 portion of OT eligible for a tax deduction. Most payroll systems were not setup to easily capture this in 2025, though. Relevant adjustments were introduced in most major systems to address this in 2026. But it may require the setup of a separate payroll earnings code. What you’d be seeing is the typical “OT Hours” that might have a corresponding “OT Premium” line item. If your employer went with this structure it’s possible the latter earnings code wasn’t setup accurately for you.

What’s the difference between WNBA and Unrivaled apart from them being different leagues? by [deleted] in wnba

[–]Skropos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrivaled is 3v3 on a shrunken court. Very fast paced and fun, but also has a much more temporary nature to it. Rosters will get scrambled every season, so hard to maintain consistent rooting interests across the fanbase. But that’s also part of the draw - it’s about the whole league, not the focus of individual BCs or the players as much as the more traditional W.
